You guys had HEAPS of suggestions for this one 😅 like a few of you said pretty much every movie has this theme! I'm thinking about it now and yeah pretty much every movie 🤣
I have a feeling I know which one will win but I'm always wrong ❌

Yorkshire Shaft

Elephant man one of the old films that think people should see once. On our worst day I know it can't be as bad as everyday of his poor fella.

Gene Hendricks

A lot of great choices on this list, but the story and performances in The Elephant Man just won out for me.

Calico Jack

Fun fact on "Elephant Man". Mel Brooks was the executive producer and "Brooksfilm" was the production company. Mel left his name off so that audiences didn't think it was a comedy. His wife Anne Bancroft helped in getting the writer a meeting with Mel.

Dolf (a.k.a. Anders Ericsson)

I have neither seen the movie, nor read the novel, but generally like Steinbeck, so Grapes if Wreath is first pick for me. But Elephant Man which I saw just a couple of weeks ago, is a strong second.

Btw... Thanks for your PM Dawn Marie 🥰🥰🥰

Happy Hanukkah

As of now: Looks like nobody down here likes him. :-)

It is a good movie, but they are better ones on the list.

Bartleby

Mel Brooks also saw Eraserhead and had a meeting with director David Lynch as a result. He gave Lynch the directing job after that one meeting.

Patrick Dillon

Dawn, I hope you get to "Winter's Bone" eventually. Jennifer Lawrence's debut movie, and its really great.

I know its in 2nd place but Remember The Titans hopefully will get its viewing as its one of the most underappreciated movie in history filled with great emotion

Bill W

I can't believe Titans scored so high, especially given the other choices.

Simon

Wow. That changed a lot since I voted 😳

Alan Jones

Too bad The Miracle Worker is running so far behind. IMO, it's a must-see film, and it is directly on point for overcoming adversity. And you'll never see two more powerhouse performances than Anne Bancroft and child mega-star Patty Duke. If results remain as is, please bring this back for future consideration.

Oh darn, I was too late with my suggestions. I would have loved to see one of these make the poll: 8 Mile Cast Away G.I. Jane Ray

Carol Rocha

Can’t go wrong with Remember the Titans!

CinWin

Yepyep. It's a good movie and I just know she'll have lots to say in her reaction.
