Very sorry for the radio silence the last few days. I had some (a lot) of issues with Platoon and took a much needed stress break 😅 I always feel like I'm on a roll with the copyright stuff and then BANG! There's always this one movie that proves very difficult. Anyway! Hot Fuzz full reaction will be up tomorrow and we'll be back to normal uploads again. Who's up for the next poll?

Lets go with 'Ridiculous funny old mannies poll' 😁 if you could let me know some movie ideas that would be great! Much love ❤️

Comments

Dean J

I don't understand what that means. Could someone translate that poll title?

JD

About Schmidt is a great movie. Jack Nicholson and Kathy Bates.

Dolf (a.k.a. Anders Ericsson)

The Seventh Seal, an extremely funny old black and white movie about a knight and an exciting game.

Gene Hendricks

Grumpy Old Men (1993) The Odd Couple (1968) Space Cowboys (2000)

Chicago Artist Jon

Rodney Dangerfield in either Caddyshack or Back to School.

Dean J

Now that I understand the title, my suggestion is Cheyenne Social Club (1970). An older James Stewart and Henry Fonda being funny in a Western.

Manny

How about young Eastwood .... have you seen or reacted to Kellys' Heros?

K Dub

"The Bucket List" with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson?

Don Wagner

Fuller Brush Man. Red Skelton

Robert H

Biloxi Blues (1988) Quick Change (1990) Election (1999)

Robert Inman

Not sure of the cultural "Old Mannie's" significance, but Grumpy Old Men with Walter Matthau, Jack Lemmon and Ann-Margaret is a good time!

Don Wagner

Withdraw fuller brush man. Googled the movie and Red was only 38 then.

Jay Perry

Burn After Reading, a comedy action about espionage, with Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and more

Chicago Artist Jon

If you had watched The Birds and Spellbound by now we could add High Anxiety to the list, but not until after those are watched.

Jay Perry

Get Shorty and the sequel, BeCool, with John Travolta, Danny DeVito, Steven Tyler, etc.

zynjams

the Majestik starring Jim Carey. great drama not a comedy

BDev

Tough Guys (1986) Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster

Yorkshire Shaft

The dark Knight trilogy, finish transformers lol, Legend with Tom Hardy, the bad boys films. There's loads Id love your reaction to but the dark Knight films are absolutely class.

tkitez

The Man in the White Suit (1951), or if you're amenable to something a little newer: Used Cars (1980).

Craig Gustafson

"The Strawberry Blonde" (1941) - James Cagney and Olivia deHavilland. Not sure if you meant funny old men or funny old movies about men. I'm going with old movies. (I just subscribed now and am not sure about the rules.) I showed this to a friend and at the end, he threw a couch pillow across the room, yelling, "WHY don't they make movies like this anymore?!"

Mannygogou

A gruff but amusing older guy 60 years old Jack Nicholson in, As Good As It Gets (1997)

John Lawton

Preston Sturges comedies, especially: - The Lady Eve - Sullivan’s Travels - The Palm Beach Story Also, some great musicals (probably tough to edit for YouTube, so maybe Patreon exclusives?) - The Music Man - Meet Me in St. Louis - On The Town

Al Graham

We need to finish Deadwood!!!

Marvin Just Marvin

The Big Chill (1983) The Sure Thing (1985) Into the Night (1985)

Grga Pitic

The Limey (1999). Terence Stamp was ~60 at the time. Does that count?

Clayton Johnson

A lonely place to die (2011) Set in the Scottish Highlands. My name is nobody (1973) Comedy Western.

john ruddick

How about visisons of the future. Or greatest love movies of all time.

Duke Pootentooter

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) The Straight Story (1999) Bad Grandpa (2013)

JL Green

Hi Dawn 👋🏽 I apologize if you have already reviewed this but how about Broadway Danny Rose or Once Around with Richard Dreyfus and Holly Hunter?

Tim Coates

Top Secret (1984) Val Kilmer, comedy

Ragnar Miersch

Grumpy Old Men (1993). I mean it's right there in the title.

Dan Cornyn

The Hangover, Lonesome Dove

John A

I am also recommending "As Good As It Gets" (1997) great performance by Jack

Tito Leon

Tropic thunder! lots of great actors in this film. very funny

Donny J

The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942 film)

Donny J

The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942 film)

Donny J

The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942 film)

Cisco

Let it Ride (1989) w/ Richard Dreyfus and Robbie Coltrane

Ryan Gallacher

See no evil, hear no evil. (1989) Starring Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor

Louis Marzullo

Ruggles of Red Gap & It's a Gift (W.C. Fields). Charles Laughton was only in his late-30's in Ruggles but he always looked alot older.

Datsmeharse

If you want funny/ridiculous with Bette Davis in it, then The Man Who Came to Dinner.

Datsmeharse

This is certainly silly and has old men, good one. I wonder if Dawn would get some of the cameos, but perhaps it works better without knowing them too.

Simon

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Andreas

They call me Trinity (1970)

THK

Space Coboys (2000) a space ship full of old men

Eric Hill

Monkey Business with Cary Grant and Marilyn Monroe

Ted Little

The Pied Piper (1942)

Elliot Nesterman

"The Over-the Hill Gang" (1969). A comedy Western starring a bunch of old-timers, most notably Walter Brennan, Andy Devine, and Edgar Buchanan.

Patreot

“The Odd Couple” A perfect script and one of the best comedies ever. “Old” is relative here, of course.

Goony71

It's like Airplane which you've watched before. If you liked the humor in that then you'll like Top Secret.

Patreot

“Mary Poppins” (For Dick Van Dycke’s portrayal of the old banker, and for Uncle Albert who loves to laugh.)

Bill W

Little Miss Sunshine (Alan Arkin)

Robert Jewell

I really want to recommend YOU CANT TAKE IT WITH YOU (1938) directed by Frank Capra and featuring a number of ridiculous old mannies, some enlightened, some not, starring James Stewart, Jean Arthur and Lionel Barrymore, you've seen all them before of course. It won the Best Picture Oscar and you will LOVE IT!

Eric Hill

How about Yankee Doodle Dandy starring James Cagney. It’s funny, dramatic, a musical, and patriotic. We just had an election

Eric Hill

Any of the Road pic, except for Road to Hong Kong. You can do Road to Singapore, or Morocco, or to Utopia

Eric Janssen

I'd second any of the Road To movies, or even some more Abbott & Costello. (We've already done Meet Frankenstein, right?} And while every reactor fan in the world jams Hot Fuzz down poor innocent reactors' throats, I've yet to see one for buddy-cops Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines in the 1984 "Running Scared".

Eric Janssen

Road to Bali was just as much of a cheap off-studio reunion knockoff as Hong Kong, but it's funny enough that I wouldn't kick it off the list. Singapore, Morocco and Utopia are the essential first, though. (And if she gets a taste for 40's Bob Hope, maybe we can do Woody Allen's tribute in "Love and Death".)

Tom Grassia

Road to Morocco. It kills me when the Amazing Race comes on, they go to Morocco, and not one team sings the song. Man, I'm old.

Tom Grassia

December is coming up. Try Holiday Inn

Alan Jones

"The Westerner" (1940) starring Gary Cooper, with a truly eccentric riff on real-life Old West self-appointed jurist, Judge Roy Bean played by Walter Brennan (who was Stumpy in Rio Bravo; I think you liked him a lot.) Brennan's character is a bit shadier and less admirable in this one, but he's a hoot nonetheless.

Alvin Helms

Have you ever seen 'Bedazzled'…? (The original from 1967, with Dudley Moore & Peter Cook. NOT the tepid remake from 2000.)

Tom Hartley

The Last Picture Show (1971)

Patreot

“LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON.” Audrey Hepburn and Gary Cooper in a May December romantic comedy. (Many of her films had her paired with much older men, because the biggest male stars from the 1930s remained the biggest male stars in the 1950s.). I love this film so freaking much. It is under appreciated these days because of current mores, but it’s a wonderful film.

Patreot

“BALL OF FIRE”. Starring Barbara Stanwyck and Gary Cooper. This may fit the poll description the best aside from “Grumpy Old Men.” A fun, classic film.

Philip Cook

Maybe prison movies? My suggestion would be "COOL HAND LUKE" starring Paul Newman. A truly classic film from the 1960's. It's were we get the line, "What we have here is a failure to communicate.'"

CinWin

OMG...speaking of Dudley Moore...I would LOVE for Dawn to watch ARTHUR!

CinWin

Grumpy Old Men The Bucket List The Odd Couple As Good As It Gets Something/s Gotta Givw Last Vegas Going In Style Oh God

Mannygogou

Oh wow!, that's a lot of responses 😊 so is someone going to help Dawn wade through and create a list that fit her category of "Ridiculous funny old fellas" poll? Someone's gotta do it 😆 (note - I translated the term "mannies" to "fellas"... for folks.)

Louis Marzullo

Well, I'm just going by the little emoji fellow. He's blue, no? I'm color blind so he could be purple. Can't tell those 2 apart, oftentimes.

Mannygogou

Up (2009) - an old guy stars
