That symbol is the caduceus, indicating the medical profession. Wait... You're gonna watch War Stories right now? But not post it til next Tuesday??? I don't think I can wait that long!!!! lol : ) . ; * . <3 .

David Guin

Well . . . That was an interesting day. P.S. Once you can sing the theme song all the way through, you have earned the title of "Browncoat."

This episode is also a nod back to the pilot, where this conversation happened: Mal: "How come you didn't turn on me, Jayne?" Jayne: "Money wasn't good enough!" Mal: "What happens when it is?" Jayne: "Well... That'll be an interesting day..." And Mr. Guin, below, put it succinctly (see his comment).

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

"Make something up. Don't tell them what I did." I fully believe that if Jayne hadn't had that moment of honest to goodness remorse that Mal would have absolutely let him get sucked out the bay door into space. The crew is a family and Mal sees it as his responsibility to keep them safe and Jayne betrayed that. You're right, he's got a lot of making to to do.

Technically no, neuro tissue doesn't regenerate. Other areas can learn to take over function from damaged areas but damage remains.

Robert Inman

Interesting that they showed her brain scan light up just as River screamed about leaving with Jayne.

It has occurred to me no one cares about the small details and contrary to common usage but>>> The Staff of Aesculapius is a rough-hewn branch representing plants and growth entwined by a single snake. Aesculapius was known as the god of medicine. Hermes (Mercury) was the messenger of the gods and known for carrying a staff known as the Caduceus. The caduceus included two snakes topped off with a set of wings. The Caduceus is from the Greek root meaning “herald’s wand” and was a badge of diplomatic ambassadors associated with commerce, eloquence, alchemy, thievery, and lying
