Best sandwich? A Reuben, pretty much. Pastrami on rye with sauerkraut, emmental cheese, mustard, and dill pickle slices. Served hot or cold, its delish - give it a try!

Best vacation ever? You have more fortitude than I, Dawn Marie! National Lampoon was a humor magazine that ran from 1970-1988 but they also had their own stage and radio shows. Their stars graduated to TV and then to films, with their first big hit being National Lampoon's Animal House (1978), then they hit it big again with this movie in 1983. For sandwiches you can't go wrong with the classic BLT, which I serve on gluten-free millet bread slightly toasted. Please feel better.

You seemed to recognize Eugene Levy - you probably know him from American Pie. And you might have recognized Brian Doyle-Murray from Groundhog Day. When I was a kid my favorite sandwich was the Fluffernutter! Peanut Butter & Fluff (marshmallow crème). I think its mostly popular in New England

Daniel Goldberg

Several of the writers for National Lampoon went on to be some of the original writers on Saturday Night Live. If memory serves there is a newspaper (magazine?) at Harvard called the Harvard Lampoon, and National Lampoon was started by some students who wrote for the Harvard Lampoon.

You're exactly right! I was just trying to give Dawn an overall answer to her question without going into too much detail, which I am usually guilty of!!

Great and fun reaction! I would have to say that my favorite sandwich these days is a hot meatball sandwich. Meatballs with marinara, provolone, red onions, and roasted peppers on a hoagie roll.

Great reaction. Yes, the dog bit was cruel...funny cruel...but cruel. Aunt Edna was played by Imogene Coca, who worked with Sid Caesar on his classic comedy variety show back in the 1950's. Comedy royalty, there. For a sandwich, I'm pretty easy. Don't care for peanut butter, as it gives me heartburn (though I like the taste). I guess my ideal sandwich starts with a thick-sliced slab of honey-glazed ham, on whole wheat bread, generously spread with mayonnaise and yellow mustard (the sweet, non-spicey kind). Maybe a leaf of lettuce. Chips (crisps) on the side, kettle style.

Loved the reaction and hope you continue the journey with the Griswald Vacation Movies. Fav sandwich? A Cuban Sandwich which is grilled and pressed sandwich, served on a long split french or cuban bread with mustard and typically contains roasted seasoned pork, serrano ham, swiss cheese, and sliced pickles.

Eddie Bracken who played Roy Walley was a very popular actor in the 1940’s

Apropos of nothing, this movie is great for syncing. The beginning is full of fast cuts.

Great fun reaction. All the cast members had terrible experiences when it came to filming the scenes inside Walley World, where they rode all of the roller coasters and other rides. In the commentary, Chevy Chase mentions that many of the rides made him and the other cast members vomit, especially since they all had to ride them several times for each take. Dana Barron (Audrey) mentioned in the commentary that the coasters made her so sick, that she had to take motion sickness pills and would pass out on nearby benches between takes. Finally, Anthony Michael Hall (Rusty) mentions that in the shots on the roller coaster, where he looks scared, he wasn't acting, his fear in those shots was genuine.
