A movie that pays tribute to the older comedies whose favorite premise is anything that can go wrong, will go wrong 😉

Hey! I have 2 suggestions for a poll vote. A great black and white comedy Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, and second choice, Cooley High, which is a coming of age story featuring Black Teens during the 60's.

Hey Dawn did you notice Steve Martin's co-worker who say's he'll never make it was Ferris Bueller's Da? And the lady at the rental car desk was Mr. Rooney's secretary, Grace. (also, the guy who beat Steve Martin racing for the cab was Kevin Bacon.

My favorite John Candy/John Hughes film has always been "The Great Outdoors". It's priceless, and the restaurant scene is worth watching the whole movie. I always cry at the end of this film. John Candy's last film was "Wagon's East". He was quite heavy in the film, and wasn't feeling well during filming. The critic's crapped on it, but it's on my list of best comic western's. Another mostly unknown film of John Candy's is "Nothing But Trouble". I would describe it as quirky, but funny. Just a couple film's to consider just for shit's and giggles!

David Patterson

Yea, Christmas is just around the corner!

Dawn, i really really hope you decide to do a couple more John Hughes/John Candy films... The Great Outdoors and Uncle Buck. They are so funny and heartwarming. The Great Outdoors also stars Candy's fellow Canadian actor/comedian Dan Ackroyd. And Uncle Buck also stars Macaulay Culkin. (the following year they would both be in Home Alone, although they didn't share any screen time together in that one).

16 Candles is John Hughes' best movie

Mark

I'm 51 and have never seen this movie. It was really a fun watch and interesting that it still holds up because it is very old and very 80's. I love John Candy and and Steve Martin. If you are still doing John Hughes movies, "Weird Science" is a great one but beware, it's stereo typical 80's. Cheers!

resinmonkey .

I think this movie was made for you. I knew you'd love it.

Other than no cell phones or internet, what is 80s about it?

Always identified with Del, but I had a Neil Page moment when I had to share an Uber. Guy next to me wouldn't stop talking to me with his cigarette smoke breath, and he was completely oblivious to my unwillingness to talk. "You know, that place used to be a Tux rental. And that place was a restaurant. God, I remember buying a delicious sea bass there. You look familiar, did I see you at the methadone clinic?" It continued for an hour.
