Agreed, it's a different sequel, and I actually may like this one a little more than the first movie.

If First Blood followed its source material and went with the original ending, John Rambo would have been killed and no sequels would have ever been made

There are 3 more movies and imo the only one of all of them that's worth watching is First Blood... except that watching this one makes Hot Shots part Deux better. It would be cool if you watched Top Gun and then watched Hot Shots and Hot Shots Part Deux. (they're made by one of the dudes that made Airplane and the Naked Gun movies). Lloyd Bridges is the funniest thing ever in those two movies.

Nowhere near the heart and soul of the first film. To me, this was just Missing In Action with Stallone replacing Chuck Norris. The first film had plenty of action, but it was smartly paced, and placed. It was more about characters, dialogue, acting. This one has very little acting. It's all action and special effects. The "love story" is obviously forced (like Dawn said) and meaningless. The rest of the films just keep getting more ridiculous.

You still need to do the sequel to “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”, “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey” You would love the style of comedy here.

Hey Dawn, ..the actor who plays the bad guy Colonel Padovsky, was also the bad guy Victor Maitland in Beverly Hills Cop.

Rambo is the ultimate survivor, comparable to the likes of Richard B. Riddick. Primary raw difference between them... Rambo isn't a anti-hero. He's a genuine hero. Rambo killed NO one in First Blood. In self defense, Rambo caused an accident that led to a death. But had the officer followed orders he wouldn't have died. It could be argued that the police officer killed himself due to poor lack of judgement. Even if Rambo had not thrown rocks(vs bullets) at the helicopter, he might've still fallen to his death. He began shooting completely against orders.

Riddick... There's a comparison I'd never have made on my own 🤔 what a great series that is though. I might give them a re-watch now.

John Walters

And the two movies were in theatres only about five months apart - Beverly Hills Cop in December 1984, and Rambo in May 1985.

Tons of respect to Stallone, but I found Vietnam related movies depressing back then when they came out.

Ever since Pitch Black, I've been a big Riddick fan. I own his entire series including the animated film "Dark Fury". The director's cut of "Chronicles of Riddick" is the best & most complete middle version, imo. As told by the director himself at the beginning of that dvd. I almost bought both video games made for the series too. I re-watch his series every few years. Vin Diesel is developing the final installment now. All of them have pretty good stories by David Twohy. I expect no less for this last one.
