This was an interesting poll. These two kept taking the lead from each other, then would be tied, then would swap again. It was non-stop. But in the end, The Hunt for Red October just pipped The Fugitive by 4%... However, since they were so close the whole way through, and considering this may be the last HIT THE DEACDE! poll (I've been thinking of changing it up, the same decades keep winning, and Sam mentioned a few good ideas on the last post), I'm going to react to both!

Starting with The Hunt for Red October on Sunday 25th, and then The Fugitive on the 2nd of July! Everyone okay with that?

The Fugitive on June 2nd? I'm confused.

Bartleby

Funny too because neither of these movies are particularly representative of the 90s, 90s style, or 90s sensibilities. Hunt for Red October is 1990 so was made in the 80s, still made with the 80s sensibilities. And The Fugitive is a remake of a TV show from the 60s. This kind of happened to with the 60s poll. Where The Magnificent 7 won. A movie released in 1960, so still very much of the Hollywood golden age 1950s sensibilities. As good as the film may be, it’s not exactly what you would think of as. 60s movie.

So happy about 'The Fugitive'. A decision Solomon himself would give👍

Michael Hartsell

Average movies at best "Pulp Fiction" was the real hit of the decade

Bartleby

I will agree with you that Pulp Fiction is the movie of the decade and arguably the most influential one. A contender that didn’t make the cut, The Crow is the most “90s” movie of the 90s as well as being a highly influential movie of the decade as well.

Greg Kipp

Both are good movies and worth watching!

Louis Marzullo

I liked Pulp Fiction when I first saw it but think it's overrated. Influential, I guess but empty & soulless, like listening to KISS. Doesn't hold up to repeat viewings. Not a single character I even remotely cared about, except maybe the gimp

Simon

That's better than ok. Love this

MertzRocks

Indeed yes! So glad you decided to do both so soon. Plus a few people have said and I agree: The Crow should get some consideration in October for the Hallowe'en season.

A film I personally and cherish much more. Directed by the great Tony Scott, “True Romance”. I love the characters Clarence and Alabama. I’m of the opinion Tarantino is overrated in general. But his seeds of ideas, revised and fleshed out by a brilliant visionary director can make for some truly special films I also believe “Natural Born Killers” is a masterpiece of art. This one the Tarantino seeds lie much farther back than with True Romance. His stories handled by other directors are more exciting, stylish, and innovative films.

Great choice!!! 2 great movies.

Louis Marzullo

True Romance👍. NBK too extreme for me, couldn't get through it but I was alot older when I tried to watch it than when I saw Pulp or TR. In my teens & 20's I could handle anything, even friggin Cannibal Holocaust. Now in my 50's, not so much🤮 Appreciate your thoughtful perspective re: Tarantino's relevance

Devlin Domini

If Sam is the one that suggested various categories to vote on, then I agree. They were good ideas.

Roger Freeman

It's your show. Do as you like! Sounds good to me

Simon

Exchelent choich.

Despair

2 good movies, but you need to watch The Crow at some point ~ Despair.
