Robert Inman

Thanks Dawn! This was made as a sort of anti-western late in John Wayne's career. Le Boeuf was played by a country western singer, Glen Campbell who sang the title song.

jordanirvin

Try The Searchers with John Wayne Classic, and he's younger so you will like that. Great Pick!!

Bartleby

Dawn, you didn’t notice the actor who played Moon. Who was shot in the leg and then had the dramatic death scene. That’s Dennis Hopper, and you saw him previously as The Mad Bomber in Speed. Couple other great films with Hopper to see. “Apocalypse Now” (1979) “Blue Velvet” (1986) “True Romance” (1993)

Simon

Loved this! Thanks Dawn!

Nerd's Gold

I don't care for the remake as much as this one, but I like the sequel to this one probably better than this. 'Rooster Cogburn' with Kathrine Hepburn. John Wayne and Hepburn playing off of each other is just amazing.

Darrell Palmer

I wouldn't bother watching the remake; it doesn't have the charm. Instead, you should watch "The Searchers" and "Rio Bravo." Those are two of my favorite John Wayne movies after this one.

Retro Maven

If you like westerns with lots of humor check out the classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) with the fair pairing of megastars Paul Newman and Robert Redford!!🐎

Bill Bryant

He had so many good westerns over a period of 50 years. His first western was in 1926, and his last western was in 1976. There isn't enough room to list all the great ones! Big Jake, El Dorado, Chisum, Rio Lobo, The Alamo, Hondo, McLintock...and the list goes on. Absolute legend.

resinmonkey .

Cat Ballou is a "girl western" you would probably enjoy. Serious back story but very funny.

Ajax Fernsby

I’m going to recommend “North To Alaska” -1960 a western comedy. Mr Wayne was slightly younger and thinner. A little background on Glen Campbell; he was mostly know as a singer, songwriter and an outstanding guitarist. Although he had his own solo hits, he was later to be known for his work on hundreds of songs from the 60’s as he was a session musician with a collection of others who came to be known as The Wrecking Crew.

THK

If you like funny western, you maybe should watch "Support Your Local Sheriff!" from 1969. It is not with John Wayne, but i had a lot of fun to watching it.
