Representing Mastodon at Global Policy Tables (Patreon)

Hello, supporters!
In recent months, our team represented Mastodon at some important global discussions about the future of the Internet.
At UN Open Source Week, Hannah Aubry from our 501(c)(3) Board of Directors spoke as Mastodon was officially recognized as a digital public good by the Digital Public Goods Alliance. This recognition validates our commitment to open-source principles and affirms that communication sovereignty is a vital aspect of data sovereignty. Check out Hannah's blog post (https://hannahaubry.online/heres-what-i-said) to read her full remarks about Mastodon's role in building a more equitable digital world.

At the Internet Governance Forum in Oslo, our CFO Felix joined policymakers, technologists, and activists to address critical questions about digital governance. Our focus was on privacy-preserving interoperability—how people can move fluidly between platforms like Mastodon and PeerTube while staying in control of their data. This work is key to building a more open, human-centered Internet.
At the Global Solutions Summit in Berlin, we participated in high-level discussions about digital democracy and AI regulation, meeting with EU policy leaders and organizations working toward a more decentralised web.
Why this matters: As momentum builds behind decentralized platforms, we're making sure that Mastodon has a seat at the table where digital policy is shaped. Your support makes it possible for us to participate in these crucial conversations that will define the future of online spaces.
These events remind us that Mastodon isn't just software—it's people coming together to build something better.
Thank you for being part of this movement
