One more supported media attachment type is WebM, which acts roughly like a Vine (looped, muted by default).

Statuses that reply to people unknown to the server will now trigger a thread resolve mechanism that fetches remote statuses so you can view the entire conversation thread without leaving the UI. This is done within the constraints of public and standardized APIs, namely
s and
s, so it will work with anything that supports those.

Speaking of which, there is now a UI for opening a status or an account. The former loads the conversation thread, the latter will display profile information and the user's statuses. However, neither view is truly finished. While usable, it's still a work in progress.

If you click on a timeline's header, it will smoothly scroll you back to top. If you scroll down to the bottom, it will load older content (infinite scroll).

When you click to reply to a status, everybody mentioned in the status will be prefilled as mentions into the compose form and the form will get focus so you can start typing immediately. (Not all mention information is currently always available, it will always prefill the status author though, this is a work in progress)

Clicking on a mention in a status body will now open the account in the UI as opposed to opening a new page (as long as mention information is available, like above).

There are more various fixes and improvements for more obscure stuff. Another important update is that I've finally been convinced to change the license for the source code from GPL-2.0 to AGPL-3.0, which is always the same but is supposed to prevent bad actors from fencing off parts of the fediverse so that decentralization stays guaranteed. It's been made clear to me that that is also a requirement for Mastodon to be featured on gnu.io (which is the information website of GNU social).

Thank you for supporting this project financially!
