First of all, the OAuth stuff has matured a lot. I wrote a Ruby library for the Mastodon API , and an OmniAuth strategy for authenticating with Mastodon . As an example and a useful tool I've written a simple app that lets you sign in with both Twitter and Mastodon to see a list of who of your Twitter friends has a Mastodon account.

The tool can be found here , the source code is here. (Note: Please sign in with both, otherwise you will see who of your friends has a Mastodon account, but they won't be able to see yours! And don't be surprised if you don't see anyone at first. This is a new thing, and a 3rd party tool that only works for people who use it, so spread the word around in your social circles, and then check it again)

The OAuth authorization pages got cleaned up as well as all the other forms on the site. For logged in users, there are now 3 settings pages: "profile settings", "preferences" and "change password". E-mail notifications can be disabled in "preferences".

Furthermore, profiles in the main UI now distinguish between "posts", which was the default view before, and newly added "following" and "followers" tabs that display lists of users.

Media will now open in a modal window.

Starting a word with @ in the new status form will now display a list of suggestions of usernames. Right now it's sourced only from accounts that are currently loaded in the UI, but server-side search will come soon.

Otherwise, I've just been refactoring/improving code quality and fixing bugs.

Big shout out to my Patrons:

Thank you!

More and more people see issues with the direction Twitter is heading, and it's important that people know that there are alternatives like Mastodon, lest the next big thing will, again, be a walled garden platform. So spread the word wherever you can!
