Chapter 2

Bernard wasn´t sure if this had worked. The display on the machine said this was the date, but things don´t seem as different.

Although, they are different. He´s no longer at his place, but outside. Outside of where, actually? He´s stepping on grass, and the sky above him is blue. There´s some clouds around, but it´s mainly sunny.

A clear, sunny sky, but is it too sunny? Is the sun too shinny? In fact, he doesn´t like the way it feels over his skin. Actually, he´s not feeling too good.

And the air, he´s too overwhelmed by the place that he didn´t even think on how the air would be. How much would the atmosphere change within a thousand years.

This air is actually hard to breathe.

“I… I…” he couldn´t even think. He felt hot, the air was too thick, and he was thirsty. That´s all he could think of at the time.

Was it a heat-stroke? He tried to get back to the machine, to get a place to sit before he fainted. If he could think straight, he would´ve even considered going back.

But he didn´t have the time, not even the time to reach for the machine. His legs gave and he fell into the ground. The good thing is that the grass was cushioning enough so that his head didn´t hit the floor hard.

His hopes were so big that they blinded him a little. He should´ve known, at least expected, that a thousand years from now, things might have changed.

Not even the air that he breathes is the same. His lungs seem to have a hard time adjusting to this. It´s not as if the air was unbreathable, his body wasn´t ready for it. Maybe if he would´ve taken it in within small breaths?

Bernard was so overwhelmed, he couldn´t be sure if it had actually worked. Was he a thousand-years in the future? Or just a couple hundredths? A couple decades?

All he could see was a show of colors. In a constant change as the machine took him where he asked to go. Now, he was, supposedly in the same place as his house, but he was also in the middle of nowhere.

But not exactly nowhere, if he turned to the left, he could see a tree, a big tree, with some yellow fruits. Limes, maybe?

His face was all red, he was breathing, but it hurt, as if his lungs were trying to take a deep breath, but through a straw, or maybe even through a thick piece of cloth. Where less than the oxygen he needs comes in.

Bernard was getting desperate, he looked above, as if he was praying for help. Blinking, full of sadness as he´s still aware that his dream might not come true.

And then, when everything was lost, he turned, to the right this time. At the distance, there seemed to be someone coming his way. But his mind was shutting down, he could feel as if he was about to be unconscious.

He had no idea who this was, was it even a person? He could see a shape, a tall shape, coming his way walking in two-feet. But he wasn´t sure if this was a hallucination, because he could swear that this beings head was on fire.

He could see an orange shinning above the head of this creature. As if it´s head was set on fire, the skull covered in flames as it made its way.

Too far for him to see clearly, and he was losing consciousness too fast to think on something. The only thing that crossed his mind was that this creature, hopefully a person, was 100-feet-away. And so, with this being his last hope, he closed his eyes.

He felt pain, in his chest, his limbs were starting to feel numb. He couldn´t even cough, this was a strange feeling, all he could do was to lie there and hope for the best.

The sun was the last thing he saw before he closed his eyes, the shinning, he´s never actually seen such a bright glow coming from the sun. Had the ozone layer over the earth finally given away?

He lasted less than five minutes in this new earth, unsure if this was the future he was actually looking for. Before he could search for an answer, he was knocked. The new planet knocked him down with its new conditions. The new atmosphere.

As he struggled to stay alive, this being finally arrived to where he was. This creature wasn´t an “it”, not even a creature, this was a woman.

“W-what is this?” The lady said, a woman who´s head wasn´t on fire, but red in color. She looked at him with her big blue eyes, certain of only one thing, “this” seems to be in need for help.

“You poor thing, let me take you to our leader. She´ll know what to do.” And so, the lady bent over, put her hands beneath him and lifted him.

Now, how did she achieved so without struggling? Well, on a side, Bernard´s kind of a skinny guy. Too lost on his thoughts and the look for answers to remember he has to do, at least, three meals a day. And that those meals have to actually nourish him.

Plus, he wasn´t the tallest, he stands at 5´9”, slightly above the average height. And with a total weight of about 130-pounds, he´s not such a sturdy guy. Still, why can this lady lift him so easily?

The answer´s simple. She´s not skinny like him, in fact, she´s quite a voluptuous woman. With thick and strong legs, wide hips, a nice and round butt.

Her shape´s easily spotted since she´s wearing a tight body-suit. Like a second skin, wrapped all over her body with a glove´s fit. The blue color of the suit covered her naked body more like paint than a suit. Unable to hide her enormous breasts.

Now, as she lifts Bernard from the floor, as she carries him back to the city, as her enormous bosom bounces, slapping him on the face a little, she´s curious. What is this? She wonders, and there´s also another question in her mind.

“Poor thing, but don´t worry, I´ll take you to our leader, she´ll fix you!” He seems frail, vulnerable. Her legs are so thick, a single one of her massive thighs is certainly thicker than his chest.

To this woman, he´s skinny, weak-looking, and he´s also tiny.

How was she able to lift him so easily? And how will she take him all the way back to the city? She´s even running now! The answer´s simple, this woman´s not only voluptuous and, certainly, strong, she also happens to stand at eight-feet-tall.

That´s right, she´s eight-feet of a sexy, hourglass-shaped, amazon.

Now, the amazon´s running back to the city. Taking Bernard to her leader.

But there´s a couple of things to keep in mind. First, leader? Is this woman she´s talking about like the Major? The President? Who is this “leader”? and what type of leader is it?

There´s also another thing, why is she so tall? She stands at about eight-feet-tall; her luscious shape is also something to keep in mind, however, what´s the reason for her height? Has he been found by an actual amazon?

Have people reached taller heights? Within those, still unconfirmed, thousand years have things changed that much?

And there´s a more important question, why is she referring to Bernard as if he was an “it”, as if he was the actual creature. He might not be as tall as her, but he´s still a man. And she´s clearly a woman, taller, but still. Hasn´t she ever seen a man his height? Or, hasn´t she seen a man at all?

Could he be saved? Was he where he wanted? When he wanted? This is the future, surely, but… does he still have time?

Beihg this the future, there´s surely an advance in everything. Surely everything.

Starting with that woman´s suit, why was she wearing such a suit? It wasn´t even as the ones you would wear to swim, there seemed to be some differences, slight ones, butt there were. Like the fact that she had shoes, stick to the whole suit, which means this is not for swimming.

But the clothes, if this are the new ones, are unimportant. What he needs is medical attention, to find a specialist. To find an atmosphere he can actually breathe in.

The amazon ran, entered the city and then went towards the biggest building, right at the center, carrying a being, she had no name for, in her arms.

Soon, she entered the building, crossed the huge gate with this “discovery” in arms. And was immediately guided towards the leader.

There were some moments when he regained consciousness, but for a really short time. And things were really blurry as well.

He can remember seeing the lights of a ceiling, shinning, although not as much as the sun he last saw. The walls were made of steel, or so he thinks.

His first thought was that he was lying in some sort of stretcher as he was transported inside this place. Wherever this was.

After that, it was a few seconds of consciousness after another. He can remember a woman, wearing some sort of helmet, probably examining him.

Then, lights, shinning lights. And then, he felt a shot, a syringe on his arm. And the rest was so confusing. He could listen to some whisper, people speaking while he was barely conscious.

“He seems like a different version of us.” Said a voice.

Then, he blinked, and when he was conscious again, he heard:

“According to the DNA test, we´re compatible, but his DNA seems to be from centuries ago…”

He blinked, but every blink seems to be more than just a blink. Perhaps, he was falling unconscious again, and every time he woke up, they were talking about something different.

“The shot we gave him has stabilized him…” blinked again.

“He´s adapted to our environment, finally. After about…” blinked again.

“What should we do with him?” and that´s the last thing he heard.

After that, all he could listen was the beeping of a machine. Was he connected into something?

Why couldn´t he open his eyes? Why does he feel so tired? Is he in some sort of hospital? A medical center?

Bernard´s unsure. Why is he asleep the whole time? Was it the new environment, or was he sedated? Was he under observation?

They gave him a shot, and he´s “doing well” after it, what was there exactly on that shot? He´s stable now, supposedly, then, are they waiting on something to let him out?

He was smart, but he doesn´t have much time to think, since he´s coming in and out. But he can recall his last thoughts, and there´s two questions in his mind he needs an answer for.

Where is he? And how long has he been there?

There seemed to be a lot of things going on. Was he some sort of trespasser? Why are they talking as if he was something “new”, and why are the voices he hears all female? He can´t recall a single man´s voice. Which is fine, but kind of odd. Even, suspicious.

This could only lead to a theory, was he, by any chance, the only man there?

One day, he just heard a voice saying: “Ok, we have to let him out now. There´s been too many questions and now, it´s time to set him free.” Free? Has he been trapped?

This was strange, very strange, but he´ll have some answers soon…
