Chapter 4

There were a large number of possibilities! How could he explain his size in contrast with the one of the lady before him? BOTH ladies before him!

They were amazons! Has the world evolved in a way that everyone needed to expand in order to overcome the dangerous nature of the same?

Your body shall grow in order to overcome it´s challenges. Usually, in terms of muscle, however, over a couple of generations, this could affect, noticeably, the size of people.

Bernard was wondering, thinking quite fast as he stood before both gigantic women, if this was the cause of their size.

It could also explain the reason why he fainted. Maybe the new humans of the world were bigger, tougher and stronger! All in order to survive.

That theory seemed right. But he couldn´t just think of it as true.

What other cause could there be? Maybe, he shrank?

The loss of mass was unusual, at least at this level. His body feels the same, he doesn´t have a mirror but he can feel his body. Aside of this slight weakness, he feels the same; in terms of height at least.

But, is he? What if he´s been shrunken proportionally? He can´t let that theory aside just like that.

People don´t shrink, at least they didn´t use to. But this is the future. The thirtieth-century! There must´ve been a new invention to change the size.

It could´ve started just as a trend. When people wanted to be taller, and there could also be people who wished to be shorter? Maybe?

Aesthetics’ are not something he focuses much of his thoughts on. But if there´s people who want to be taller, why not people wanting to be shorter?

Maybe there´s a machine? Or a ray-gun! Maybe they have developed the technology to alter the mass and proportions of a body with success!

He could picture a couple of advantages. People reaching smaller places, unreachable places. A whole team of nano surgeons, inside the body to cure a disease! But, why is he not nano and just a couple feet shorter?

There´s questions, several questions! And he´ll ask them, but not all at once. One at the time, starting with the name of the red-haired lady.

“Ok, he´s good to go.” The doctor, he was sure she was a doctor and not just anyone carrying a doctor´s coat, said.

“Nice! So, he´s… normal, right? I mean, no need for any special kind of care?” The red-haired lady asked.

“No. He´s as healthy as anyone of us. He´s well rested, his body has adapted to our environment due to the treatment. You can treat him as an equal, well…” the doctor stopped and looked down at him. “As a smaller equal.” So he´s the one that´s small.

“Great! I´ll show him the place! I´m sure he´ll love to leave the, how did they call it? Oh, the hospital.” The red-haired said.

“Yeah, as you wish. After all, he´s under your care. But remember, he´s your priority, our priority.” The doctor added.

Priority? Him?

Well, if you´d come from a different time, you´d certainly be the major attraction around. And probably trapped to be questioned.

Lucky for him, things are not that way. Unless… maybe he should keep an eye open.

“So… I was wondering, what´s… what´s your name?” He asked, looking up at the statuesque woman.

Her legs were so long, her strides were too. He had to speed up a bit to catch up to her.

“I knew you´d ask that.” She said, with a smile on her face. “Before your… arrival. We didn´t have names. Just numbers. I was number 0-8-8, but ever since you arrived, things have changed. I adopted a new name, Neo, it means new, right? And since I was giving myself a new beginning, why not naming myself after that?”

Numbers? People were named after numbers? Well, if that could be called a name.

“And you´re Bernard, right? I know because we´ve seen all on your videos.” Neo replied.

For a moment he wondered, which videos? But then, he remembered the videos she´s talking about.

He had a small video of himself, as a greeting for whoever lived in this new age, in this new world. He was hoping they would find the way to read and play the video. Technology must´ve evolved in such a way that, even a regular video recorded with your phone, no matter how “new” it was at the time, must be obsolete.

The good thing is, they were able to view it.

And, of course, they must´ve found all of the information he brought.

He downloaded a ton of information into a memory, one he created in order to preserve as much data as he could.

He didn´t spend much time on it, maybe a noon, but he was able to create a hardware able to hold a couple thousand exa-bytes of information. A four-by-four-inch piece of technology. Nothing marvelous, but he didn´t want to come empty-handed.

“Yes, that´s my name. I assume you have seen the… information I carried with me.” He replied, happily.

“Of course! The leader, and their team, studied all of your belongings. Then, they showed us how your world was like. And I may say, I like the… old fashion better.” She said, pointing at her shirt.

“Oh, that´s why you wear a blouse. You know, I was certain you´d have some revolutionary, prime-tech clothing on.” He replied.

“Yes, our clothes were like the suit you´re wearing, but bigger, actually.” She said, and then, she couldn´t help a question. “May I ask you something?”

“Sure, Neo. You may ask.” After all, he´ll be the one making a ton of questions after.

“Thanks, so, uhm… I was wondering, ever since I found you… were people as… short as you? I don´t mean to be disrespectful, but I´m one of the shortest around, and you´re WAY smaller than me” That was a sincere question, still shortest?

For a moment, he froze. This lady, this 7´7” amazon of a woman, is “short”? Compared to who?!

That doctor he met was also very tall, even taller than her, but that means that there´s people who are even bigger?!

Just how big? And how wide are the gaps in height?

Neo´s, by far, taller than the tallest woman he´s met. And the doctor at the hospital, she´s taller than the tallest human in history! At least what used to be modern history.

They were walking down a hall when they exited the room, and so far, he hasn´t seen any other person. No nurses, no other patients. It was just Neo and him, walking out of the hospital.

“Well, I´m… of an average height. From where I come from. But there´s taller people.” He explained.

“As tall as me?” Neo asked.

“I… no, not normally. People from my time, they weren´t so tall.” He explained.

“Oh my, well, I wonder what would they think of people like us.” Neo said as she stopped before a door and opened it.

This was the outside, finally. As soon as Neo opened the door, he could see dozens of people waiting for them. People who wanted to welcome him to the new world.

At first, he wasn´t sure, but after paying close attention, he could tell something. They are all women.

“Ok everybody, you know the rules, you can´t touch him. You can look, you can wave at him, but stay back.” Said a deep voice from high above. Much higher than Neo.

Bernard turned at his side, there was a gigantic woman standing by the door! Standing at what seemed to be ten-feet-tall, and she was thick, very thick. He´d say that muscular even.

Neo wasn´t lying when she said she was short. This woman´s about two-feet-taller than her!

Leveled with a woman´s belly-button? Her legs are thicker than his chest. If Neo´s an amazon, this woman´s a colossus!

For what he can see, he´d say she´s some sort of guard. And at the other side of the door, there´s a woman of equal size.

Both of them seemed to be wearing a suit just like his. Of course, much bigger than his. And of a different color. Theirs are black, probably as the color of an armor, to be imperceptible during the night, and maybe to absorb the sunlight and use it as some sort of fuel? Right now he´s just speculating.

But there´s one thing he doesn´t need to speculate about, the look on both their faces, it was stern, he looked at both with attention, and then he just focused on the lady that spoke.

“Remember, we must take care of this man. He´s as unknown to us as we´re unknown to him. He´s like us, but from a long, long time ago. And I don´t want anyone hurting him, the leader has said that we should not harm him in any way. You know there will be consequences.” The giantess added.

Consequences? Well, maybe that was a way to control all of the gigantic women.

This woman seems and sounds like a total authority. Deep down, his heart´s beating faster, he´s a bit intimidated by her. Who wouldn´t? She´s so big.

She was looking at everyone, with a hard expression on her face, then she turned to look at Neo, and the giantess said: “You may leave.” And then, she turned down at him, but her face changed.

Her gesture softened, her lips drew a smile, and with a sweeter tone, she said: “Don´t worry, we´ll protect you.”

“T-thanks.” He replied.

“Of course, cutie.” Cutie? Was it because she´s like twice his size?

He won´t dare to complaint, but being called “cutie”, he´s not used to it.

Neo and him walked in the middle of all these ladies. They were all so tall. The shortest were about Neo´s height, but there were some others much taller. Not as tall as the guards that stood by the door, but certainly over eight-feet-tall, some even close to nine-feet-tall.

And they are all female. Everyone smiling at him, everyone waving at the new man that had arrived. It seems to him that they had never seen anyone like him.

Was it because of his height? They have never seen a full-grown man of 5´8”? Well, that´s not it.

He´ll be soon to learn that the reason why they stare it´s not because of his size. It could be because he´s a time-traveler, but that´s not the main thing they all see whenever they stare at him.

Bernard´s quite an observing person, he can notice a lot of things when he´s looking around, and one thing he can tell is… there´s no other man around.

Are they taking care of more important matters? Are they working? Are they running some errands? Too busy to come and meet the man from the past?

Well, there´s a much easier answer. Although, it might not be as easy to understand, but it´s at least a short answer. A quick explanation.

“They are all so happy to meet you!” Neo said with excitement.

“I can see. Uhm, Neo, I don´t mean to sound… rude, but… where are the men?” He asked.

“Oh, hehe, it´s simple, there´s no men.” Neo answered.

“W-what? What do you mean there´s no men! Not a single one?!” He was shocked!

“Well, there´s one. You! But, before you arrived, there has never been a man here.” How´s that possible?

Bernard just landed in a place with no men? A land full of women? A land full of tall women? Amazonic women? Gigantic women?!

It cannot be denied that, to some, that would be paradise…
