We're recording a ContinueCast this week and we wanted to get some input from y'all.

The topic of discussion is things you've bought that were entirely unnecessary and self-indulgent purchases. Let's face it, we paly video games. We basically live for self-indulgent purchases. But like, what's your big one?

Leave it as a comment below and I'll read some off during the recording.

cardboardwalk

A book from Walmart called big booty, possibly the trashiest thing I ever tried to read

Jacob Hall

Danzig 6 on cd for £40. Ordered it all the way from Poland!

Garrett

I bought a professional film scanner for $1500 to scan my 35mm film. It's already an expensive hobby to buy each roll and have it developed but I thought I could save money in the long run by doing the scanning myself.

Max Power

So, this is certainly self-indulgent and ridiculous and I do not regret it one fucking bit: The director and prop maker for the horror movie The Babadook (2014) were making limited edition, hand-made replicas of the pop-up book used in the movie (take a look at the trailer and you'll see it). It arrived in a black box. It's probably the creepiest thing (but also one of the coolest things) in this house. It feels like I own a real copy of the Necronomicon. The bloody thing cost nearly $200 and I basically never touch it but I have zero regrets.

GhostSurfer

Probably a new game I never played.

David Sandoval

Probably spent around $200-$300 over the span of about a year collecting ZAP Power Force figures in box...just to open em and play with em and then put em back in box.

Max Power

This is the most Josh Henderson thing that someone who isn't in fact Josh Henderson has ever done. Bravo.

Don Cranken

An 80$ Weighted vest that came with no actual weights (without my knowledge) that I still have not been bothered to fill and use.

Booboo

I've had too many to count over the years, but within the past year... - Samsung Galaxy Buds - Mini projector - Huion Drawing tablet - Various games

Dane Barnes

Most self indulgent thing i've bought would probably be the deluxe box set for Daft Punk's Random Access Memories. It's one of my favorite albums and decided to take the plunge. Don't regret it, but $250 for an album I had already listened to a thousand times is a bit crazy haha.

John McGarry

Easy. No one NEEDS double stuff oreos. But I bought all of them. Then, what I do, is stack 2 double stuff on top of each other when I dunk, LEAVING THE CHOCOLATE COOKIE PARTS IN TACT. I do the TRUE double stuff double stuff. All of you cookie removers are doing it wrong.

John McGarry

See, it’s not that I bought double stuffs. It’s how I always continued to buy them. A continued un-needed purchase

Alfredo Colindres

$780 on designer eyeglasses. They looked awesome. No Ragrets.

Jake Harker

It’s gotta be a two-way tie between my $200 baby-tank (aka the Death Stranding Collector’s Edition) or my $350 + International Shipping replica Kamen Rider Den-O belt that literally serves zero purpose outside of making noises and being resplendent.

Maieen

I collect 1/6 scale fashion dolls and action figures, and sometimes I "need" to pay upwards of $50 for a discontinued doll. Just this last week I purchased a doll from 2003 that costed a total of $61 (including S&H and taxes). I regret nothing.

Johnny

Magic the gathering cards. I have a pretty sizable collection. I've never played in tournaments and I really only break them out to play with once every couple years, but I love them. The art, and the play style. The fun of teaching someone who has never played. Its hard for me to pass them up every time I see them at a store.

Robert Moon

Too many things to mention. Dance Dance Revolution arcade machine. $500 bucks for a replica Gantz gun toy. Nintendo Amiibos. A room of blu-rays. Guitars I don't know how to play. I'm basically a child.

John McGarry

Also I think I’ve purchased skyrim on 11 different gaming systems. I’m such a rube

Todd Bryanton

I bought a life-size sarcophagus and a severed head from a TV series props auction. I strapped the sarcophagus to the top of my car, and when I got home, three Jehovah’s Witnesses were on my doorstep, and they offered to help me move the sarcophagus into my basement. They seemed a little nervous about how occult the props looked, but they were super nice.

Todd Bryanton

Baldur’s Gate 2 is the one game I keep buying over and over on different systems and then never finishing

Dan

I once bought a collector's edition bust of Nien Nunb (arm's folded, looking off into the distance heroically) for an ex girlfriend. She liked it. It wasn't exactly the most expensive purchase I've ever made, but certainly one of the more questionable decisions I've made in my life.

Dan Houser

A weirdly realistic bulldog mask. For like 50 bucks. I've worn it 2 times. I saw it on Good Mythical Morning.

Sean Johnson

I had a trip coming up and I bought $300 bluetooth headphones because I didn't think my regular ones were going to block out the noise if there were crying kids on the plane.

Zambambino

either the couple hundred bucks i spent on a set of tmnt figures. or the $7000ish I spent on my back tattoo

Alex

I bought a new Bass guitar from japan a couple years ago for $1200 AUD (around $860 usd). I already have like 7 other basses, and don't play in a band that earns any money. I just wanted it on a whim.

omegalbagel

I have too many Captain America toys/pieces of memorabilia and at this point I'm scared to know how much I've spent on them.

FFEDCO

Just, like... However many keys I've bought for crates in TF2 over the years. Gambling is bad, kids. Don't do it.

Gettin Nasty While I Chromecasty

Spent $350-$400 of gift money from my high school graduation on a replica of the Witch-King's helm, part of which broke as I was taking it out of the box. It's enormous and you can't really walk through doors with it because the big spike on the front adds at least 2 feet to your height. It's been gathering dust in the attic at my parents' house for over a decade now. No regrets.

Ruin

I don't gotz mad paper to splurge on stuff, but the dumbest thing I spent too much on recently was a collectors set of Tarzan action figures from the 90's cuz it came with some sweet John Carter characters and stuff. It was only like 20 bucks but the shipping to Scotland was like 50. It's lame, but I wanted them super lots.

J. Fenn Crane

So, one time in walmart they had a life size five foot skeleton on display, and I lived in a tiny ass dorm room. I had to specifically ask them to bring it down so I could buy it lol, I felt a lil bad but it was worth. I still live in a tiny ass dorm room but I have now but a second full life sized plastic skeleton

Robert

I bought a $3K bike kind of on a whim. It cost more than my car at the time. I had serious buyers remorse on the way home but over the last few years i've definitely gotten my moneys worth so I don't regret it at all.

Dan AntonioooooooooooO

Bought the entire backlog of a band I like on CD, including special edition DVDs etc cause they started going mainstream and I got scared they were gonna delete their old stuff On

Dont Feed After Midnite Podcast

My candy apple red Mustang. I have 2 kids. I will say tho that it makes for one hell of a "family car" and my daughter loves being picked up from school .

Miguel Pardo

From the years 2007 to 2009 I amassed collection of about 10 novelty swords. The most absurd being a 6ft long Dragon Slayer from Berserk and a 6ft long Masamune from FFVII. I can't remember how much they each cost exactly but, I know it wasn't cheap. Now I'm just a 32 year old man with novelty swords sitting in his garage.

HoodLemon

I bought a telecope for $150 and tried setting it up on my balcony so I could look at the stars but I didnt realize youre supposed to use it in the country otherwise you wont be able to see anything because of all the light polution from the city lights. I would rate my experience 1 star but I never even saw that many
