Even tho they didn't open up in this chapter, for some reason I fill so fulfilled! Nao didn't hide the fact that he RAN to be there for him, he didn't let Souta lie about his emotions but also respected that he didn't want or had the courage to say it on that moment even if he was desperate to talk just a few minutes ago. All that plus the fact that the moment he realised Souta was soaked and cold, he pushed all that aside and prioritised Souta's health... I'm all for open and honest ✨ communication ✨, but this spoke volumes

Okay fam, I been cooking up this theory for the past several weeks and I'm finally here to say it for posterity: My bet is Nao is 100% gay, and he's been going about his business with the idea that Souta is 100% straight. I have no doubts he's already fallen for Souta, but here's the thing — it's a lot easier to keep those feelings in check when you fully believe you'll NEVER have a chance (speaking from experience heh). And so, the romance is smothered (though not very well, imo) and Souta solidly becomes Nao's FIRST REAL BEST FRIEND. Let that sink in. Nao said he "doesn't want things to change", and if I heard this between a straight man and a straight woman, I would assume that means "I don't want to risk losing our friendship over a possible romantic relationship". As I said, Souta is Nao's first ever best friend. That's valuable! True best friends are hard to come by. You weigh the pros and cons of dating very carefully before potentially crossing a point of no return. TL;DR here's the sitch: Nao has romantic feelings for Souta. Souta is also Nao's first best friend. Nao has been hiding his feelings because he a) wants to prioritize fostering their best friendship, and b) never thought he had a chance to begin with. And then Souta hits him with an atomic love bomb and it's a slow descent into madness. I bet Nao will say something like, "It was a lot easier to ignore how much I liked you when I thought you were straight." I recently reread the entire story with this concept in mind, and I swear to God it fits spectacularly.

guys i think that nao doesnt actually believe souta likes him as much as he says (yet), i thibk thats why he made such a sour expression when souta said tha. i feel like he might’ve taken offense, like souta was throwing his feelings around like a joke (considering nao was COMPLETELY under the impression that souta has long term feelings for inoue, and then believing he felt for arashi). i also just think that nao is resistant to change because of just his personality and backstory. souta definitely 100% deserves an apology from nao, but i think nao might even need one too!! they are both so young and new to this so it makes sense for them to dance around eachother for so long. i am so excited for whats to come

I'm not really sure how much Nao has realised about his own feelings (apart from I dont like arashi that way) 🤔 does he know he likes Souta, he clearly fantasies about him but has it clicked for him that ah I fantasies about him being arashi because I want to be his boyfriend and for him to be the one im "dating". Even if he knows is he ready to reveal to Souta his feelings are reciprocal (it took souta a hot second to come to terms with liking guys, so could be the same with Nao).

second comment tonight i do not think the sleepover spoiler has happened yet. i know they had a sleepover whenever nao’s mom had just passed, but i feel like thats too vulnerable and comforting to really consider a ‘romantic’ moment, though it definitely doubles as that, i just think the first part dominates that scene. and the spoilers she listed all happened in a cluster with arashi, the fair, the half confessing, karaoke, yknow. so i think maybe nao will tell souta to stay the night…….????

HEHEHE I’ve read this a billion times and am still not over it. The SLIGHT hint of jealousy from Nao asking about the party is SOO SATISFYING. It’s the same face he makes but slightly more tame whenever he’s jelly hehe. Alsoooo, this scene reminds me soooo much of when they spoke in the locker room/shower when they were talking about being buddy buddy with Ryu and Big Ben. We are finally getting Cold Hands also and wayyyy too excited. AND ALSO, LOOK AT THAT. Who is using any excuse to hold someone’s hand?? Now Nao… I thought you said Souta would love any excuse to hold your hand. (I mean he definitely would) but you straight up grabbed Souta’s hand as if there was no tomorrow. Hehe I love that and now you’re probably going to keep holding it. So excited for next weekkkkk. Also I mightttt be reading too much into it but Ioveeee the symbolism here. Assuming Nao gives Souta his scarf which I think he does, it’s like Nao is drying his tears or holding him. Souta has been so hurt and saddened for so long it’s as if the tears on his face weren’t enough to emphasize that so instead he’s soaked by snow. And Nao giving him his scarf to give him warmth feels like he’s wiping his tears or giving him comfort after all this time. I can’t wait for next week

The way Nao kinda just realized that leaving her alone wasn’t the best idea looooool and immediately moved on. The panel where Souta asks if that was okay is peak comedy in my book because you know the “…” is a big old “No.” Moving on, Nao sandwiching Souta’s hand and not listening to him say that he’s resistant to the cold is everything I ever wanted. …what does “somewhat water resistant” mean Souta?
