Souta is really the sweetest. It might take a bit but Nao will love this gift. The fact that Souta was really paying attention and trying to make him happy. Now though I'm imagining Souta just putting up the lights in secret so he doesn't "bother" Nao with a gift. Nao would come back to them at the end of the funeral or just a long day and BAM stars. Souta would give up seeing his face but would know it would give Nao a piece of light in this dark time. 😭😭 Please, I'm crying. I hope Souta goes over soon to give the gift. Just because I'm still not sure, at this point, if Nao would call him for support. And Nao needs some love.

While I absolutely hope Nao will call Souta for support, I still don’t believe their relationship is at the point where Nao would feel comfortable enough to truly confide in Souta/seek emotional support from him :/ Hopefully he will seek help sooner rather than later, and won’t begin to shut himself off from others again. <\3 I believe that Nao has some deeply rooted abandonment issues from his childhood… And that, in some way, Nao blames himself for his mother leaving. This could have caused him to develop a low sense of seem (self hatred) and trust issues, as well as the belief that he deserves to suffer, hence, tends to seperate himself from the world and from the people around him (depriving himself of genuine human connection as a form of self-punishment). These feelings of isolation and detachment from his surroundings could also be a form of dissociation, which is often used to cope with trauma (neglect) by disconnecting from a more painful reality (in Nao’s case —— drowning the world out with music, and by not allowing himself to form genuine connections with others). Although, now that he’s once again forming an emotional connection with another human being (Souta), his mental walls have begun to break down a bit… And while it is clear that his fear of abandonment (clinging to Souta with the fear of somehow messing up their relationship and causing him to leave) is still present, it’s really cool to see how Nao is beginning to trust and rely on others again, and how he progressively seems to hate the world (and himself) a little less :) I love that a lot. However, this new development with his mother is just heartbreaking to see. (Definitely just didn’t write a whole essay, lmao. Oops. Probs read into this far too deeply.) I hope that when Souta gives his gift, It helps Nao to realise how much Souta truly cares for him. I’m sure that realisation will be important for Nao. <3

If Nao goes to his mother's funeral I hope he brings Souta with him. It might seem like he wouldn't ask, but after Souta said he would be there for him at soccer camp(even if he wasn't) I'm pretty sure Nao knows he can rely on him. I hope anyway.
