Y'all though we were done with backstory? Think again. But this does at least conclude chapter 30 which is the longest chapter to date. Can you guys read the handwriting btw? I thought it'd be a nice touch but if it's hard to read I'll find a handwritten font to do the job instead. Took a bit of a gamble there.Thank you guys as always. Stay tuned for middle school Nao next week!

Awwww I hope his mom at least responds🥺

AutumnInAprilArt

I can read the handwriting just fine! Awesome work with it!n

Handwriting is pretty legible but I’m also always the person trying to zoom in to the notes to read them only for the closeup two frames later, so I strained myself there for no reason - only place I had trouble, though. :) I agree it was a nice touch.

Clarita

awh man, now that she's gone he's gonna want those letters even more :'( & yes the handwriting is legible!

Quint James

I read the first panel and said, "oh nooo." I hurt once again. This is so good.

Tink

Yes the handwriting was very easy to read! So that's where his love for music comes from, I'm strangely heartbroken by that...I love the backstory!

Ebby

I really like the touch of the handwriting! I could read it just fine.

every part of this chapter just devastates me more and more, props to you for creating such an emotional and genuine story but also i hate you for making me cry every week 😭

So it’s seems like Nao still hasn’t become closed off even after his mom left so I’m really curious of what happened🤧 I think it probably still has something to do with his mom, and we still gotta figure out why Nao doesn’t like trains😩 Ahhh I always make predictions about this webcomic and they’re always wrong! Aina you’re killing it with the storytelling, I genuinely don’t know what’s going to happen next with the story but everything is slowly coming together! Im living for Naos backstory! Keep up the amazing work!💞

MessusMinnow

Oh Nao. I’m so sad for him.

Tom Ball

Handwriting is great, don't change a thing. Your handwriting makes it more authentically yours

stitchwitch

Ah my weekly dose of heartbreak 🥲 That said, yes the handwriting is definitely legible! And adds a great personal touch.

You really are a wonderful storyteller. It’s kind of incredible.

Ooh! This was so good. Seeing the progression as he starts to become the Nao we know. Just need to break him a bit more and take away his love of soccer and friends! 🙃😭

DearNeptune!

Wait wait wait! Hold the phone. Nao has had those headphones since he was little! He took such good care of them. And all the music being his mom's is just 💔. Middle School Nao! 😭 I'm ready. Tell me all about this child. The handwriting is definitely legible. I liked it! And baby Yuu! Even little he's seems like a grumpy boy. But I'm excited to see him before their friendship ends.

I cant wait to find out what happened at the train station with his mom.

Poor kid. Trying to make something good of a bad situation. It’s no wonder he became so closed off later. Such a wonderful comic.

As a mother who has struggled with her mental health, and worked SO hard to keep it from causing my children to suffer, I’m devastated by this backstory. This update has been the hardest so far. I feel my whole life in it, my own backstory with my mother, and my immense fears as a mother. It hurts.

Mafuyama

It’s just a hard situation for all parties. Idk. I was all for my mom getting a divorce coz my dad is an abusive POS, but obviously it also took a huge toll on me becoz I wasn’t able to live with her for a while. This chap is honestly so relatable, but I feel so bad for Nao. I hate seeing him sad. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I honestly thought you used handwriting font for the handwriting

Marie

Love your handwriting 😍😭😭😭 I love this story

Azherwind

the handwriting looks perfect and it gives the exact push to enhance the narrative weight of Nao's letters, it makes them feel more his I love how are you telling the story of this small family, of the repercusions of the day to day stories of this ppl and the big impacts it has in them even if they can feel ""casual"" they feel real Like Souta, struggling in school or a sport you like may seem small but its a big deal and it affects the ppl that are living it, a lot of ppl come from divorced families, but it truly shapes us as people, it changes the perception over our parents and ourselves if you see fights often or one of them are more absent from your life I like the quiet sadness of it call, the calm nostalgia of this "mindane" problems its great and I'm absolutely loving getting to know Nao better, wonderful work as always Aina!! eager to read more

Waiting For the Miracle OT9

(I don't want to sound rude) I'm starting to find this taking a long time, it's long. I know that the past of our two protagonists is important but ... I miss the "love" story between the two characters.

bluownbutterfly

Omg that connection with the music, it all makes sense now 🥺

Vee L

Ow my heart! No wonder he loves that kind of music and vinyls so much T_T
