I am so not ready for this💔

Ice lolly

This is just another whole level of PAIN

Tink

The eventual future sadness is what hurts...to see him be so happy and excited makes me feel the need to protect him from the sad :(

Shar

I'd like to know what's really going on. The grandparents are either covering for her or...

Janaysah

He is literally the cutest, but im feeling that his heart will break omo😭

Quint James

So I thought the last chapter was sad and painful. But I am LEGIT crying right now. My goodness. How am I going to make it through this one? Also, telling us what happened in the main time-line and us being like "dang thats jacked up" and then making us LIVE it in the following chapters so we see him happy and know what's to come is brilliant storytelling on your part. We didn't fully grasp that statement when it was said at first and the didn't really get the full weight of it. As a writer, I cannot express how much I appreciate this approach with this story. Well done.

Knowing that he will be heartbroken when he does not get to see his Mom makes me want to guard young Nao from the pain. Hoping to see Souta and Nao's bonding when they are older soon. Don't want him to have to processes parental loss alone without support.

Caerulex

My heart!!! It’s so sad, clearly Nao’s mom is dealing with a lot that Nao doesn’t understand. 😭

Kelee Parker

As a mom I am so heartbroken 💔and angry 😠 that a mom could do this to their child. Your story makes it so real it is hard to accept that I'm getting this upset 😭

Alex Richmond

She’s either physically or emotionally ill (maybe all the crying was from more than just a bad marriage) and either way it’s going to hurt a whole bunch.

Aicha Camara

I'm pretty sure that when she made that promise she was sick. Something must have happened on the day of the match...

Taytorade

Ooof this is gonna lead to an incredibly heartbreaking scene and I'm not ready 😭💔

Preston

SAD mode has been activated.

Ciara Vasquez

I'm sorry but what is up with that grandma. I get that she might be trying to do what is "best" for her child but at the expense of your grandbaby? Yeah no.

sinaki

Aww my poor baby Nao 😭😭 I will hug him when she doesn't show up...wait shouta hug him 😌

Atlanas E. Kildarin

Hmmm. Something is going on. This is just a bad situation all around. 😞 I think the mother is answering the phone for her for a reason right now.

DearNeptune!

This is the second time my comment deleted itself. That's so frustrating. I don't remember all of what I said. I do remember complimenting you on your writing, Aina. This story is phenomenal! So beautiful to look at and read. This background is really giving us so much insight into Nao and how he is with Souta. Souta is his everything, not in a romantic soulmates way either. When Nao stops talking to his middle school friends does he talk to any one after school? All he has is music. So when Souta shows up, it's like all eggs in one basket. It's more than jealousy when Souta is talking to Ryu. It's the absolute fear that another person is going to slip away and he'll be back in that abyss. This boy has been through the winger. I want all the answers now but I also want to savor every single panel. Truly a marvelous story.

Kaylynn Bousman

She’s gonna break my baby’s heart and I’m really not ready for it 😭

Azherwind

This is extremely well done and I'm so intrigued by what made the mother go so non contact since she clearly does love her kids, was it mental health issues? physical health? Nao's range oe motions through all this was great and you made an excellento choice of making the scenes long, to hang on the pauses and slow responses cus it really shows the tension and awkwardness of it all, it shows off how long and heavy that phonecall felt (at the start) which works really well on why when the conversation became more pleasant it felt like it lasted a second (not to mention just plot convenience of course to not have to show every detail of casual conversation) I also like a lot that when Nao mentions wanting his mother to come we have a shot of the empty home I also think you are nailing how despite Nao obviously loving his mom, when one of your parents is away from a long time and dont show signs of coming back you stop feeling that same level of comfort and closeness to the point is hard to talk to them and asking them for things, there is just this mental gap of not wanting to bother them and also not finding yourself with a lot of trust in them that they can or will help you And you capture all that so well in a way that is narratively compelling and not hammered down, love it as always ALSO I WASNT READY TO HAVE FEELINGS TODAY WHAT THE HELL AINA

Twoony

I'm not ready for the oncoming pain o_o

Vee L

Whew, there was a lot of emotions going on here.... it's hard to watch Nao being excited bc we know what's coming next! Artfully done, as usual!
