Okay so he’s definitely right, like if she was “always aware of him” she would know that this isn’t a great time through his body language. BUT these are TEENS and they do stupid things and she really likes him. Not the best timing for sure, but that took a lot of courage too. Selfish? Yeah of course. I just hope he ends it with that.

First and foremost, middle school Inoue is absolutely adorable! Her little pigtails. 😭❤️ Second, I feel like I'm in theaters watching a horror movie and I'm screaming at the main heroine to "RUN! PLEASE! SAVE YOURSELF, HE'S GONNA GET YOU!" Cause that smile and the fact that he didn't just walk away says he's about to go in on her and she don't deserve that. Hurt people, hurt people. 😥

Saw this coming! I feel bad for her but she really did come at a bad time, I mean besides all the stuff he's not talking about the anger in the football game is enough of a sign to stay away/give some space...to be honest I'm not super sure Souta wouldn't have come and said something (not this...but just..something) had he not been put in the game so no idea if this hostility would hit Souta had he been there instead.

My heart always races when I see an update for IDCC hahaha And yes, as expected, he was not sensitive at all in his response to her. I mean, we readers can understand his moment, but I really do feel bad for her. It takes a lot of courage to confess to someone and she just wanted to make him feel better. But I also understand that in his mind rn, this was horrible timing... Anyway, yeah, only Souta can come to his rescue at this point for what we've seen in previous scenes. And I have to admit that even though I feel bad for Inoue, I also feel something special knowing that Souta is the one person who'll be able to get trough Nao's armor.

But I do hope that someone will push Nao to take care of his mental health with a professional. Even though the idea of romantic love being able to cure is lovely, we cannot take the professional help for mental illness for granted.

“You didn’t know how to approach me but thought NOW would be a good time?” I think this has such a deeper meaning. To me Nao is also saying “why didn’t you/anyone reach out when I started to need people in middle school?”, “why didn’t you/anyone reach out and say something when I still trusted people?”. And I’m not saying Nao would have reciprocated feelings. We know Inoue is a good person, and we know she has no idea what’s going on in Nao’s life, but in Nao’s eyes Inoue has just put herself in the same category as every other girl who’s confessed to him without knowing him first. Souta on the other hand (even before he knew about Nao’s mom) was willing to set aside his feelings just to be a friend to Nao and try to understand him as a person, not just see him as this unattainable object, which is something no one else has bothered to do.

I Know she isn't aware of Nao's situation, but... read the room, you can clearly see he does not want to be bothered... I get that she desperately like him, but that doesn't excuse you for not being considerate to others people feelings. Bad timing... she is a teen after all and she can be selfish and I get that. So Nao is about to lay into Inoue, and I wonder if he is going to accuse her of not knowing him, just like everyone else who has ever confessed to him doesn't really know him. And then I wonder if he'll slip up and say something along the lines of "nobody ever bothered to get to know me as a person except..." and cuts himself off before Souta, but at the same time has the massive realisation that he likes that boy. My drama-loving heart can only hope

It is super late here, and I have work in a few hours, but I read a bunch of comments here. They are so great, they gave stimulation to my ADHD brain, and I love such analysis. They were well thought and inspiring to a discussion. I always check comments under films or comics expecting comments like these here, but there aren’t. I think we're seeing a huge difference between Inoue's crush and Souta's feelings. Souta knew that Nao didn't need a confession right now. And this is why right here. We see the result of confessing mindlessly for selfish reasons thanks to Inoue (poor girl) So this chapter is showing us that Souta's decision to just be by Nao's side and help him is the right path. Not pursue him because of his crush.

at least we know if souta had confessed now it wouldn't have been good ;_; but man oh man... i totally get Inoue was probably trying to get Nao to realise people care about him but it came out in the wrong way at the wrong time :(

Tbh, as rude and cruel as Nao is going to be, he's in the right. This was not the right time for her to confess at all, and that's also even if Nao wasn't currently dealing with a death in the family, this is still inappropriate as she can see see that he is obviously distressed.
