hey. if you're on my Instagram page, you might've already seen a version of this. but i've been feeling a little uninspired lately, so i thought making a low-stakes reel about it would pull me out of my slump.

in the future, i'll be doing my best to keep everything early access exclusive to patreon, even if it's something small. after all, the subscription is for general support, access to my backlog of content + early access, so i want to honor that. thank you for your patience with me!

ABOUT THE PROJECT:similar to Truce, we follow a young girl living a very isolated life (but she doesn't know any different). the difference is that we couldn't really hear what Kiera was thinking.

it's called "My Darling Mine", originally called "Babydoll" back in April but changed since i wanted to move away from the single-word titles lol.

i'm aiming for at least an hour, but we'll see!

this project has frequent suicide mention + content warning, so please proceed with caution.

it's a coming-of-age story at its core with a romantic subplot. the original version of this was about the pancake family, featuring an original character named Mckayla, played by me, but i've decided to rework it because i didn't want to use townies. it was originally recorded April 5th.

after mulling it over for a while, i decided to voice the lead for the rework as well. if you're interested in working with me on this project, don't worry, there will still be a casting call for other roles in it. i'm looking for emotional, human voices, so don't worry about experience either.

ABOUT THE CHARACTERS:

this is Lana, an 18 yr old senior about to graduate. she's gone to private, all-girl schools her whole life. she's fixated on morbid and tragic things. at the beginning of the film, she realizes she has no outlet for her feelings, and genuinely has no idea what she really enjoys. her father left them at the beginning of her freshman year and she swears she's unaffected...actually she doesn't feel excited about anything anymore...

this is Milan, he turns 20 during the film. he was somewhat of a wild kid in high school (nothing like Sato or Arron tho lol), but he cleaned up his act after the death of his father. him and his mom recently moved in next door, determined to restart their lives. fun fact, i actually didn't have any other pictures of him where he wasn't on his knees. he's, uh... very sensitive (read: a crybaby), i think he counters Lana's stoicism very well.

i wasn't joking about the pictures. i literally don't have another one.

if the premise sounds familiar (cough), it's bc it is. after revisiting DoRo as a whole, i feel as though Penelope didn't get the introspection she needed. while her story is a little different from Lana's, i imagine the feelings are largely the same.

full transparency, i lacked the vocabulary back then. i lacked my own personal introspection, and so writing something like that just wasn't possible for me at the time. art that feels personal is important to me. i hope i can make something just as meaningful, and a little more grounded this time.
