Fresh off it's Oscars wins, it's Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein!

I personally loved the movie, so I’m glad even though James didn’t, he found a lot to praise

Robert Burns

My favorite movie of 2025, sad you didn’t like it as much James, but respect your opinion 😊

I thought it was stylistically impressive but the plot was definitely one that held my hand, which I don't always love. Overall it was really good, I didn't like it as much as I've liked other Del Toro projects like Pan's Labyrinth, which remains my favorite. I'm glad it won so many awards though, very well deserved on those fronts!

Words cannot describe how hyped I am for the psycho series

V1

PSYCHO! PSYCHO! PSYCHO! Great episode as always, but many I can't wait for those Psycho episodes (especially Chelsea's Psycho 98 one!)

In House

I swear that shot of the creature washing up on the beach will go down as one of Del Toro's finest. As well Isaac's silent scream was the best part of the theater experience. But God damn with some of the CG you could really tell this wasn't meant for theaters. Also I walked out of that theater with the exact same thoughts as James. My exact words were "yeeeeah, Guillermo loves his monsters". I really wish they made an effort to make sense of conflicted characters.

In House

Side not I HIGHLY recommend Danny Boyle's play version of Frankenstein. Every other show they swap actors between Victor and his creature. I definitely have a preference between the performances tho.

After requesting numerous times, glad Psycho franchise is next only to wait another fortnight

I love how much effort and care Del Toro put into this film. That said, I also feel like it lost a lot of the nuance that makes the Frankenstein story so interesting.

Stu's Reviews and Ramblings

Honestly, I might be more critical of this film if I watched it again. But I saw it at a theatrical screening....in the morning, when I was working night shifts, meaning I was sleep deprived. So any writing issues were kinda subsumed by dreamlike gothic vibes for me, and I ended up just having a good time.

Gage Tolin

I think the Lord Byron quote is used because he was present when Mary Shelley wrote the original story

Arthur Edington

I love this movie, it has its issues but i love it

KTOWN

Another great Kill Count! One of the few things I can watch all the way through these days without checking my phone or otherwise being distracted. Thank you for these!

Jacob Schneider

actually crazy that james accurately predicted which oscars frankenstein ended up winning

Hail Paimon!

Good to know that James knows how anniversaries work! (Unlike the WWE and Vince McMahon.) Great KC!

Jimmie Maghes

I understand James’ criticisms but I still think this movie is great the production design is amazing.

That get to the numbers bit was a hole in one.

Glad this movie won the production design Oscars that Crimson Peak was overlooked for, before Del Toro started getting real attention from the Academy. And speaking of that movie (and yes, I'm the person who has requested it twice), when I saw the shot of Victor entering his lab for the first time and it's shot-for-shot Edith entering Allerdale Hall for the first time, I was mentally doing the standing up and pointing at the screen thing because no way Del Toro didn't do that on purpose.

If April 1st were a Friday, I'd wonder if 98 would be covered there... unless that's the scheduled podcast for that day...

Kage the Goji

I personally think Victor is more nuanced than James gives him credit. There is a war inside this version of the character, he loves his creation but he also only sees all of his own flaws in the creature
