Yayyyyy!

Justin Dorval

Connan allows his inner Boston to shine through, Masshole til he dies

Jimmie Maghes

Heck yeah. I always enjoy these Oscar recap podcasts

Robert Burns

I personally really loved Hamnet and it had be sobbing at multiple moments! Jessie Buckley is just exceptional as well❤️

Jimmie Maghes

I understand why people like one battle after another. It had a lot good performances. It just didn’t resonate with me. I’m glad PT Anderson got his win. But unfortunately it just didn’t work for me. But kudos to all involved with it.

Jimmie Maghes

Delroy Lindo should have definitely won best supporting actor. His performance was so damn layered. That scene where he tells the story of his partner getting killed and his lamenting into a song was amazing,

cpikoart

Me wearing my Hamnet shirt listening to this podcast 🧍🏻‍♂️ You guys MUST see Sirat. It should’ve won Best Sound in my opinion. The sound and EDM music made it feel like a spiritual experience. Two People Exchanging Saliva (the other live action short winner) is on YouTube and is excellent. It’s a black and white French dystopian romance F1 has to be the worst screenplay of 2025. Everyone go watch Days of Thunder instead The best part of working in entertainment news is having to work during the Oscars which means (1) built in watch party and (2) too busy to look at Twitter

Ursae Majoris

The Diane Warren party idea is sooooooo damn funny. Holy shit.

Revkun

Really happy with the awards this year besides the annoying bits that are there every year. Just wish chainsaw man or demon slayer at least got nominated for best animated movie

charlie otzelberger

director of no other choice, park chan wook, is not the same director of parasite, bong joon ho! <3

Zoey

As someone who loves the F1 sport, I hated the F1 movie. I feel like it makes the sport look so boring and stupid.

horror.cinnamon.roll

after hearing them talk about it, I might give One Battle After Another a shot. It's not the type of movie that usually appeals to me, but I'm always looking to expand my horizons

Evan Linden

As someone who adored Hamnet, I’m waiting to see why James hated it

Evan Linden

Edit: After listening to them talk about Hamnet I realized that in movies outside of horror, we have diametrically different tastes. Meaties, if you like Shakespeare too, please don’t let them ripping Hamnet a new asshole scare you off

Dead Meat

Oh weird, why did I think the same person made those??? I swear I heard that somewhere but I must have gotten confused

charlie otzelberger

all good, they make similar genre films!! but park chan wook has sadly been snubbed from the oscar’s all together and none of his films have ever been nommed. totally crazy considering he made oldboy

Konakoro

Hearing how much they loved Train Dreams made me so happy because it was filmed entirely in my state, mainly in and around the hometown I grew up in (Spokane), and it makes me feel state pride. Also the cinematography does it's job and makes everything look as gorgeous as it does in real life

marybellefleur

Imo, when it comes to questions about art, I can only engage in my moral dilemmas and no one else's. Engaging with art on its own merits is enough.

PleoTCA

my pet peeve was George Lowe wasn't in the in memoriam

Brendan Darby

Documentary was a big surprise, i really thought The Perfect Neighbor would win, fantastic film with a really cool filming technique, it's told entirely through bodycam footage to tell it's story. Alabama Solution was also better than Mr Nobody vs Putin

In House

I thought Duvall was in the remembrance montage, but maybe I'm misremembering The guy from Golden getting cut off was the biggest fucking insult when Adrian took time joke about his long ass speech last year

In House

Man was gripping that award like it was about to run off. I feel like this was a make up Oscar of sorts considering he didn't win a few times over when he probably could have, honestly I'm fine with them making him wait considering he was an asshole to Fiona Apple about not getting it before.

In House

Are there any documentaries or interviews you'd recommend over the film?

Unseen Branches

My second favorite movie of last year was Wake Up Dead Man, which just isn’t the kind of movie to get academy attention

votejuno

chelsea nailed it on timmy god she’s so fucking based

JOSHUA N HAYES

I loved one battle after another.... but I feel sinners should have got the best pic .... im bias ... sinners is probably my favorite of the year .... mabee the decade

chasedisgusting

Considering your love of good narration, you definitely should give Dexter a shot, one of the best elements of the show!

Olatunji Nuga

I really wish the people harping on Timmy actually put their money we here mouth is and helped promote the arts like ballet or jazz and allowed poorer people to greater access to them.

Zaps

I watched all 50 nominated films and shorts this year and there were so many great movies! Weapons, OBAA, Sinners, and It Was Just An Accident were my favs. Best documentary was def well deserved but The Voice of Hind Rajab also destroyed me. I saw the shorts at the state theater this year, was a wonderful time!

Lexie Smychynsky

Obsessed with Chelsea’s skepticism about James’s eye patch opinion.

Steven

Love the podcast being uploaded directly on to Patreon and not through SoundCloud. You guys really are the best

ravine1

I was working at my theater during F1. We dubbed it contemptuously "Fuckula 1" i hate that movie so much. The only people i know who have so much as seen an F1 race are studying mechanical engineering and it's their whole personality. I don’t get it.

Emily Tiedman

honestly it feels like all the random hate towards Chappell Roan

Snows

I love these podcasts so much

Hayden Claborn

Interesting to hear Chelsea say she didn’t feel anything while watching Hamnet, because I felt nothing watching Train Dreams. I watched a beautiful 35mm print with a stone cold face. And I only thought Hamnet was pretty good, but the book is much better. I’m also glad other people hate F1. I felt alone on an island.

Akaash Badhan

Sentimental Value turned out my be my favourite of the 10. Have you guys seen it yet?
