Lee R.

Been waiting all weekend on this, thanks and hope u feel better :)

Jon Hoover

Dammit Jen! I was waiting for you to drop Star Trek this week. I just bought Karate Kid II because I wanted something to watch, I finished last week's Star Trek, and I didn't want to wait anymore for the edited version of KK II. I'm still at the very beginning and you drop the weekly Star Trek. Now I'm committed to watching your KK reaction. I know you'll love it. Maybe Star Trek after.

Theodore Mangini

"Where do I know her?" "Like an X-Man?" haha, so close to seeing it.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Chalk up at least one more where I went in thinking "Ugh this one, it's ok I guess but whatevs let's slog through it" and then enjoying it way more than I remembered.

Geoff S.

Hope you feel better Jen! You might remember the girl as the villain in Goldeneye

Paul Peavler

The woman from the first episode is Famke Janssen. You’ve seen her in X-Men (“like an X-Man?” lol) as Jean Grey, Xenia in 007 Goldeneye, and as the mother in Taken.

Ian

Sorry to hear you're not feeling great Jen , hope you feel better soon 🫂 make it so 🖖

Thegonagle

Yay, just in time to tune in after work and enjoy my dinner and Next Jen! I hope you’re feeling better now.

Joe Blankenship

Picard knows it's not really Jean. It's the Phoenix controlling her.

Damon Corrigan

Woot! I was hoping this would drop before tomorrow. I hope you have been okay. Another two (well, 1½) good episodes. :) The Perfect Mate - is actually a fun episode, but it does lead one to be be uncomfortable about the unresolved idea of raising a child to be the mate of another society you are at war with. But, that is why we love Star Trek. Famke Janssen was not really well known when this came out if I remember correctly - she was a model before this, and her career really blasted off. You may remember her role in X-MEN and probably a bunch of other stuff since this episode. The other guest star, Tim O'Connor (who played Briam) was actually more well known to us 80s kids, especially those who loved Sci-Fi - he played Dr. Huer in Buck Rogers. But yes, a fun episode. Imaginary Friend - is not so bad, but it isn't a favorite of mine personally. It is kind of fun to see life aboard the Enterprise from a minor crew member's perspective, and how the kids are still kids, and sometimes parents need the help of a counselor. Thank you again and again. This is so much fun. Finishing up Season 5 with the next four episodes, and they are all pretty good, so buckle up! I can't wait!

Anthony Peterson

"Frickin' Ferengi!" Perfect Mate certainly is one of the horniest (and saddest) episodes of TNG. Kamala beautifully portrayed by Famke Janssen. Likewise Patrick Stewart, he conveys a gentleman's reluctance to get involved in a tricky situation so well. Imagine being told at 4 years of age you could save the world? Would you do what it took to fulfil that destiny? Big questions. Imaginary Friend is one of those episodes where when it came on back in the day, I would be like great, another non-actiony one!

Chris Biebel

It's the Borg..or the Romulans... (Checks what the next two episodes are). Hmmm!

Banes

Hope you feel better soon!

Paul Peavler

One solid episode and one meh episode. One thing to think about with Imaginary Friend and its placement in the season is that this show like most shows at the time was filmed concurrent with airing, so many episodes were produced just weeks before they aired. An episode like this is a deliberate filler episode with little need for special effects, set pieces, costumes, and makeup (notice the simple “spots” makeup in the episode before) so that more money and time could be directed to the last few episodes. And I’m really looking forward to the next couple of weeks because there are some all-time bangers coming up.

Paul Hess

The Perfect Mate always had the feel of a Season 1 or Season 2 episode to me, but not half bad for a S1/S2 episode.

Jason Scade

Recover soon, I hope! Will catch up with TNG soon, 4 eps behind. Jengage. 💜

Brett Delbridge

Haha I forgot Max was one of the Ferengi

RSK1995

A better title for episode 22 would be The loneliness of children of career parents. In the whole episode she was left alone fending for herself even animals like cats and dogs don’t do that to their younglings. What shocked me in the episode is when the father was empathizing with Jordi on how lonely his childhood was while his own daughter going thru that in the present time.. mind blowing

Manny

Do us a favor .... if that caugh is still around day after tomorrow, get it seeing to.

TigerMyth

This might be only the second time I have seen this episode. I've always remembered it because it kickstarted Famke Janssens career. As an older man, I definitely look at this one differently now. The ending is brutal.

scott osborne

Jen you asked if you had seen her before in something Famke Janssen as Kamala Jean Grey / Phoenix in X-men Xenia Onatopp in James bond GoldenEye

Michael Tuffin

These episodes are the worst of S5, imho.

Hok'Tar

Hey Jen. I just watched your reaction to the Ensign Ro episode. You asked if we will ever see from the overall Federation. The answer to that is yes but you will have to watch Deep Space Nine. In DS9 you will learn so much more than just the Federation

Fanchman

It's fun watching these episodes with you. You really appreciate the Star Trek universe. Great episodes coming up.

Anthony Peterson

Hope you're doing OK Jen, I feel you may have gone down with your cold, take good care

Richard Meacham

The blond girl reminds me of the twins in the Shining. I keep expecting her to ask if Danny wanted to play.

Clay F

The Perfect Mate is a good episode. I had a female friend who was that way -- would be whatever the man she was interacting with wanted her to be. She seem to have no self identity. She was incredibly perceptive. I think the episode is also interesting because of Picard and his interaction. Imaginary Friend had potential to be a good episode.

I just finished watching the episode in question. I'm curious: could you elaborate on how her name is ironic?

Brian Cali

FYI, I'm getting a weird static noise on this video. Maybe your new headphones. It goes away when you speak.

No name
>>153777858

Here as well. It almost sounds like that noise you used to get from a cel phone when it's too close to audio components.

Brian Straight

I always found it kind of... "Racist" of them too stick the Ferengi in the smaller, less nicer, quarters without windows. I think I know why this as the vase from the production angle but in Universe it kinda sticks out.

Zapp Rowsdower

Imaginary Friend is a good Halloween episode. Isabella is creepy, partly in thanks to the actress who played her.

Over50Gamer

The Perfect Mate: I actually never saw this one as a teen whe it first aired. Good thing too, because the way the shapely Kamala moved in that diaphanous dress of hers... oof! 🥵 I'm surprised Riker controlled himself as much as he did. 😅 Edit: "He never even kissed her!" Ohhh, speaking as a straight guy, if that happened, that would have been it. They'd have been boning like rabbits.

Jason Scade

I hope you're feeling better now. If not, please report to sick bay immediately. I worked through sickness today and it'll be the same through till Tues, I stoically plough through with my face tripping me and the occasional wisecrack and smile. I've watched a lot of Bruce Willis movies. 👍 Great thumbnail pic! S05E22 Imaginary Friend 13:40 Worf to the two girls; "Return to your quarters and we will forget this.. incident." 😂 43:12 "Get out of here, ball of light!" 😂

For me the noise started about 1/3 of the way through the second episode if that helps. Also, in that episode for the first time your episode did not synch with mine almost like yours had scenes mine did not or vice versa. I watch on a version I bought on ITUNES/Apple for what it is worth.

Jason Scade

The Perfect Mate was a good ep, I'd largely forgotten the (rather dubious) details. Gorgeous eye makeup on Famke, you looked highly elegant also. Very entertaining reaction, it is a bittersweet episode. 24:10 "She knows this is the way into Picard's pants." 😂 25:00-ish Picard-- "Nothing lies beneath. I'm really.. quite dull." 😂😂

The Star Treker (aka Michael)

I think you know her because that's Jean Grey from X-Men, the same actress, Famke Janssen. I love your reaction to "The Perfect Mate". Lol.
