I really love how much more supportive the crew are towards Reg, especially when he overcame his fear and beamed to the other ship and Riker said, "Glad you could join us". Huge difference to the way they originally acted towards him! I once worked with a girl who had arachnophobia, but her twin sister didn't. We had another employee who had all sorts of critters for pets. He asked her if he could bring in his rose tarantula and show it to her one day and she agreed. I have to admit that with the pinkish tint to the end of its hairs it looked kinda pretty, for a big spider. Anyway, she managed to summon the courage to let it crawl on her arm for a bit without freaking out. From that point forward she was better able to manage her fear of spiders.

Reminds me of a 1986 Stuart Gordon film based on an HP Lovecraft story called “From Beyond”. It’s a real creepy goopy monsterfest (I won’t spoil it)

I always found Reg Barclay to be one of the most relatable characters on Star Trek. His problems seem true to life as do his solutions.
