S06E15 TapestryWasn't expecting to see Q in this one - no hints in the title at all! This was a great (and relatable!) episode and it was good to see Picard making peace with things in his past that he may have regretted. I think in this instance Q actually did help Picard - though he thoroughly annoyed him the entire time as usual 😂 Engage! 🖖** See THIS COLLECTION for episodes posted in airdate order! ** We're following this watch order: STAR TREK EPISODE GUIDE BY AIRDATEDirect link*Note: You can change the quality of the video by clicking the settings icon (little cog) and making it a higher resolution!*

William Rosmer

I was getting worried! Been waiting for this episode for a while

Kane Is Able

This is one of the pinnacle episodes. We've definitely been waiting for you to get to Tapestry.

Brian Straight

This one!!! Oh man, been aching for this one.

William Rosmer

I always find it funny that at the academy Picard was the jock and Kirk was the nerd

Guy Gordon

Contender for my favorite episode of the series. John de Lancie nails every Q moment perfectly, and Patrick Stewart's reactions are so spot on. I think my favorite touch is how he pulls the sheet up in bed when he turns and sees Q.

Brett Whittaker

I absolutely love this episode but I have to admit it always has a strange effect on me. I feel I may be living the lieutenant me version…it always pushed me to do better.

Joel Featherstone

This is a great episode, especially being a secret Q appearance. It follows up on so much of Picard's backstory and gives a satisfying exploration of it all. Also, this is the most recent video to watch since your news so congratulations!

Noremac

One thing in this episode that really rubs me the wrong way is alternate-life-Picard's request for advancement being called "unrealistic." The belief that when someone gets too old their chances to become something new fade is nauseating to me. I agree it's true, yes, but I hate to think about it. And yes I'm profoundly unhappy about the way my life turned out haha.

The Star Treker (aka Michael)

Jen, I absolutely love watching your reactions to TNG and DS9 back to back every week! It's such a blast. I really hope you're planning to watch Voyager once you finish TNG and start pairing it with DS9—and of course, the four TNG movies too! I love that all three series take place in the same era. Tapestry is hands down one of the best TNG episodes, especially when it comes to Q. I totally agree—it's so much better than Q's last appearance in DS9's Q-Less, which is just… okay. But trust me, DS9 has many great episodes ahead. This TNG episode, in particular, is a big part of why I love Q so much. And there's another episode (even in a different series—I won't spoil it!) that really cemented him as one of my all-time favorite characters in Star Trek. I also love how Tapestry dives into Picard's past and delivers such a great life lesson. It's a great reminder for all of us, that take some chances and risks, put ourselves out there and get notice by others and make a difference rather than playing safe all the time. Oh! I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I actually met John de Lancie who plays Q himself at a convention (Fanboy Expo, similar to Comic Con, which I've also been to). He was such a cool, fascinating guy to talk to—and yep, I even got a selfie with him. 😊

Ian

As great as it is watching DS9 with you Jen nothing beats your joining in with the intro theme to TNG 🖖🔥 soon as we see Q we know this is going to be a fun time and your Wonderful Q episode reactions are just the best and this one was another cracker 🙂 awesome stuff Jen

Zork

Curious if you'll notice the two mortal enemy races from "Lonely Among Us" from season 1 in here around the pool table.

Brian Straight

I argue this is a Q-Reality and he's rubbing salt in Picard's wounds to make him learn the lesson harder.

Brian Straight

My favorite episode. Makes you think about the past. Choices. Changing them. Consequence. Excellent episode. Trek at its finest.

Clay F

I liked this episode. I like watching your progression through the episode -- seem like I could detect your mind churning. I liked your outro. I don't love Q. Q episodes can give good dialogue and good acting by John D. Lancie. I don't love Q. Too arrogant/obnoxious and too powerful (incomprehensible). Can't trust Q. Don't know Q's motivations. I don't love Q. Q can destroy the entire Enterprise in an instant at the snap of his fingers. I don't love Q.

Kane Is Able

Jen, you're a very handsome woman.

Zork

Lessons is coming up in a few more episodes. That's one of my favorites next to Tapestries

Patrick

Tapestry is a great Quantum Leap episode.

David Brown

In real life he would have been discharged *years* ago after being passed over for promotion so many times.

David Brown

Jen, How are you watching the show? The thumbnail on Paramount+ already gives it away that it is a Q episode.

Jen Murray

I just rip episodes and don't look at thumbnails

John DiGiantomasso

That was a good one. It always makes me think of "The Enemy Within" from TOS where Kirk was split into the good/peaceful/mild version and the bad/bold/agressive version, and in the end Kirk realized that he needed both halves to be an effective commander. Great reaction to a great episide!

George Foot

It's not really about age though, it's trajectory. They've observed him being mundane for many years, of course they have to be honest and say, you're just not on the trajectory to get where you want to go.

Andrew Roach

Really good choice to view these in air date, it is fun jumping back and forth but also to realize this is actually how it was back in the day.

David Brown

Then they should have put Marc Nash on the other side of the mirror.

Thorsten Schwarz

Last time you mentioned that you always expect Q when a Q appears in the title. Now they got you when they didn't have a Q in the title. 😁

Jonas

One weird thing about this episode is that Picard now has a recent memory of having sex with his friend when she was 21, but back in the main timeline, she has no memory of it, and it never happened for her. He suddenly knows what his friend looks like naked.

Jason Scade

Good ep and reaction. Picard and Q in bed. 😂 👂 I could still remember this one quite well, somewhat similar to a Quantum Leap ep as others have commented. 👍

jon bolton

I agree with your summary Jen. I'm 45, i don't have any regrets as a baby, but that still leaves 42 years filled with things i regret saying or doing, but those regrets help make me the person I am. I love this episode. Great reaction as always.

Bobby Coolbreeze

Everything was always a lesson with Q. I think he was always looking out the for enterprise crew in a weird way while being a real pain in the ass!

Paul Sophocleous

I think that's why his appearance on DS9 didn't work so well, there was no lesson there.
