I remember watching this as a kid and it terrified me. I definitely remember the scenes with lava covering the landscapes making an appearance in some fever dreams when I was feeling under the weather.

I like the story staying with H.G.Wells last year of the 19th century era period,Love the music. It's theoretically possible to travel into the past, however the travelers may not be able to return to their own time, within their own time line simply because from the travelers pov their time line no longer exists, there's an infinite number of alternative time lines, into the past could be a one way trip....What If time travelers introduce 21st century pathogens and viruses into an ancient culture, that could be time alternating and potentially devastating to the future and our civilization, everything we know and cherish would be changed in an instant and we would not even realize it has happened....Let's not be stupid a time machine could be used as a WMD....

The uniforms that the soldiers were wearing in 1966 were the same one's used by the crew of the C57D in Forbidden Planet.

We watched this in high school and were asked the same question in film class: What three books would you take if you were the time traveller? You should have seen the answers from many of the students!

The Eloi's dining room was once the 'Emerald City' set from 'The Wizard of Oz'....

I grew up watching this film, because it was one of my dad's favorites. Just this moment, I realized for the first time that my father's age when this movie came out was the same age I was when Back to the Future came out.

I remember watching this as a kid and getting obsessed with the thought experiment of what 3 books to bring.

John DiGiantomasso

I never saw this before. You did a good job on the reaction and made it very fun!

In high school, after watching this movie for film class, our teacher asked what three books you would have brought if you were the time traveller. Some of the answers were quite interesting!
