I think they dropped the standup at the end to allow room for more story, you probably know from your own editing experience that a minute or two makes a big difference. Seinfeld got big enough that they actually stole a minute or two from the start of the following show, like Mad About You or Friends to get more time for themselves. That's how big this show was that they could get away with that.

I love this! Don't get on Poppie's bad side or his former partner might come after you! ;-) I was surprise when I first found out who was playing Poppie--he struck me as tall in Seinfeld (he was 6'1"), while as Harry's partner he seemed short to me. But then Eastwood is 6'4" and had his hair poofed up. RIP Reni Santoni (2020).

Wow, "The Couch" subplot with Elaine, that used to crack me up, one of my favorites.... and now you're right, it really hits differently now. Put a chill down my spine. Trust me: that used to be HILARIOUS, all of those scenes! Julia kills it in those scenes!!!

The Breakfast At Tiffany's subplot all hinges on the fact that the character is gay in the book, but in 1962 they weren't going to have a gay character so they made it a friendship. But you guessed it, that the book is different than the movie.
