Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Lwaxanna might be my favourite recurring character so of course I'm hyped for this, not that I'm not always anyways. Gonna do the DS9 ep first then meet you back here, J👍🖖

No privacy? The thoughts that make it out my mouth get me in enough trouble!

This is such a heartbreaking episode for Lwaxana, and for me watching it. I cant imagine holding that sort of pain inside for so long. Bajel Barrett was amazing in this!

Brian Moore

This episode along with “Half a Life” are Lwaxana’s absolute best for me. After seeing the trauma she went through and how caring her heart actually is, going back and watching earlier episodes gives me a better appreciation for her.

Next week is an episode that someone I knew who hated Star Trek actually watched with me years ago and sort of liked. Dunst also appeared in a cool episode of the Outer Limits a few years after this when she was in her teens.

MOASs (Mother Of All Secrets) can be hard to carry around. They really did some cool things with her character towards the end. I loved this episode, so I am with you. Thank you, Jenn.

Such a touching episode

Yeah I’m not gonna lie I ball my eyes out when I see this episode! This was not your typical Lwaxanna Troi episode , where we get an annoying clown comedy from Mrs Troi. Don’t get me wrong I guess we feel like the Crew when Mrs Troi comes aboard and we wanna run lol. Her last few appearances we get a more deeper Lwaxanna and this was deep! We get to see Deanna’s family backstory. One the best Troi episodes. If you noticed this last season we get to see more of the crew’s family like Geordie a few episodes ago. We are saying goodbye to our beloved TNG family.

this is my favorite lwaxanna episode. and one of my favorite tng episodes

I have very little memory of this one, like a lot of season 7. Looking forward to it! Engage!

Always great seeing lwaxana I really do enjoy episodes she's In . Having tears in my eyes at the end definitely wasn't on my bingo card , a very sad episode but one I enjoyed very much

Matt Poppell

While not my favorite episode, this one is an acting masterclass from Majel Barrett. She nailed it in this episode and brought a lot more depth to the character.

Zack

Great episode

I didn't remember this one at all. That typically means I skipped it on rewatch. I saw it when it originally aired and then didn't see it again. I don't mind when she is visiting and driving Piccard nuts but when she is the main component, I tend to skip it. Or I must have because I'm sure I've rewatched the whole series multiple times and I'm not even sure I had a vague memory of Trois having a sister who died. It wasn't a bad episode. Just nothing great. The change in camera focus with the music always makes the dream sequences creepy.

this week on 'lightyears of our lives'

Can't deny, this is a hard one to come back to, for a couple reasons. The first is rather ticky-tacky, in that the episode suffers from that S7 lethargic pace we've seen a few times now (and won't be the last either, sadly). But ultimately, I find The Reveal almost needlessly cruel to Lwaxanna, a character that already has had her share of tragedy (lost husband, the 'Half A Life' episode, etc.). Granted, Majel Barrett sells the Hell out of it, and perhaps that's what makes it even harder to revisit, knowing its coming. The strengthened bond between her and Deanna does some to alleviate that pain, but man, this episode can be such a gut-punch...

Mike Fox

I agree. This episode finally touched on something that many of us find out in our lives at some point - that our parents shield their kids and deal with more than we, as kids, might imagine. It really gives lwaxanna some strong context of character and suggests that the relationship between mother and child is not necessarily beyond all hope of repair.

Goddess of Empathy

Kudos on you for watching this while pregnant! If I watched anything even remotely sad when I was pregnant I'd be bawling!

Kirsten Dunst was 11 years old. Reminds me of her age in Interview with the Vampire (1994). I like this Lwaxana episode. My favorite Lwaxana is S4 "Half a Life".

Joe Blankenship

Damn. That was a sad one. Poor Lwxana. But good that she's dealing with it now.
