This week we're checking out - of course - more Trek and more Sein (we're skipping the clip show eps as voted by you guys)! As well I always love an Arnie movie so I'm really excited to finally see THE LAST ACTION HERO!

Thanks again for your continued support and patience with the schedule and postings here as I approach my due date. It's just wait-and-see, this will kick off any day now, and we'll see how long I'll be in hospital, etc. If things get a little wonky this week or next, just know I'm off somewhere having a baby and I'll be back asap! I will try to post a schedule for next week if it's possible but it may not happen.

THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ♡♡ We really do have a great thing going here and still have so much more awesome stuff to watch. Speaking of which, I know we're a ways off but I've been wondering what should replace Seinfeld when we finish it? Is there interest in Curb Your Enthusiasm? What about: Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny, Ted Lasso? Gimme some ideas below and I'll put together a poll closer to the end of Sein👍

Hope everyone has a great week! ♡♡♡

xoxo

Jen ♡

Definitely Ted Lasso. It’s like chicken soup for the soul.

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

LAST ACTION HERO YESSSSSS and yes, Curb Your Enthusiasm would be perfect replacement 😆

Kristen

I vote for curb, Arrested Development or It’s always sunny.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

I feel like Attached might be another one of those episodes you've been waiting a long time for, J. Very hyped for it 👍🖖

rubberkidney

last action hero huh? i see you : )

Brad Roberts

next series reaction suggestions: Newsroom and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Kristin

After Seinfeld, I'd suggest Frasier. Arrested Development is pretty funny too. Sunny is funny, but IMO, it can be way too much, and kind of gross. I would try some of that on your own before you commit.

Josh Heinen

Ooh, Ted Lasso would be great!

Gary Poussard

Arrested Development and Ted Lasso!!

Nathan Burgess

You take care of yourself Jen. We can wait while you bring a mini Jen into the world. I’ll just go though you back catalogue of videos and enjoy your insights and energy. FYI Ted Lasso would be awesome

Matt

Curb or Sunny to replace Seinfeld

Matt

Hope your taking it easy Jen, make sure to eat lots of chocolate 😊🍫

Geoff S.

I hope everything goes smooth for you! I vote for Always Sunny if we’re doing comedy. Miami Vice if we’re doing another show. Last Action will be a fun watch, you’ll love it!

Geoff S.

I think she should be introduced to Frasier on Cheers first. I always thought he was funnier on there than on his own show.

James Miley

Best of luck in the coming weeks. As far as what show to react to once you finish Seinfeld, I would vote for Curb Your Enthusiasm because it's Larry David and it's a show that I haven't seen yet but have heard really good things about.

Ian

Not seen the shows you mention except ted lasso which as you know I've recommended many times , trust me it's a show that really hits you in the feels but always leaves one with a smile on their face , it's heartwarming and just a joy to experience 🔥 schitts creek , Blackadder , the Goldberg's . If it's shows along the comedy route you're after

Celeste McAllister🍓

Your life is forever changed hun,Everything goes as expected you could be sent home in a couple of days...With a baby of your own in your arms Jenny!!🩵💗last week a first bd,my one year old little big guy is a huckleberry.💙🖖Yes on 'Curb your Enthusiasm' & 'ROME' 2005-2007.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kristin

Oh wow, how could I forget Schitt's Creek? This is a winner, definitely she should watch this (if not next, than at some point!)

Kristin

fair, and Cheers is a great show regardless.

Drew

Hey Jen, good luck with baby - I'm sure you'll do fine. As for TV shows, "Curb" is the most "Seinfeld" like since it is from its co-creator (Larry David). "Almost Sunny" is kind of like Seinfeld on steroids. "Arrested Development" is the BEST comedy TV show I've ever seen. Any of those three shows would be great to see you react to!

Banes

I'd have to vote for Curb Your Enthusiasm. The continuation of Seinfeld, in its own way. Right around that time there were other great comedies like Arrested Development and the BBC Office (which is a much shorter series). Hope you're feeling alright!

Nate Gavin

Sending you all the positive vibes that I can. Hope everything goes through smoothly. In addition to the ones mentioned already, there is also modern family or brooklyn nine-nine

Matt

Really?

Celeste McAllister🍓

'Cheers' 'Mad About you' 'Shameless' 'I Love Lucy' 1951 'Friday night lights' 'Star Trek:Strange New Worlds'🖖almost forgot 'Corner Gas' I'm team Lacey♡.....

To Wa

Curb Your Enthusiasm (Larry David also wrote & directed the movie Sour Grapes between Seinfeld and Curb, fwiw.) Arrested Development HBO's Rome Venture Brothers More South Park For Canada Day: "Strange Brew" (1983) For July 4th: Patton A Bridge Too Far More classic Sci-fi is always appreciated!

Edward korstanje

I would love to see Curb Your Enthusiasm. That's my vote.

Clay F

Congrats on making it till near end of pregnancy.

Georgius Agricola

I love one of the comments my Mom used to make about her pregnancies as the due date approached: she wish she had a wheel barrow for her belly to help out. Best wishes, Jen! I would vote for Taxi or Cheers.

Jason Scade

Three of the best sitcoms ever, you've suggested. Great taste. 🍻

Matt

That explains why my siblings are so wired 😂

DrJonasVenture

Curb Your Enthusiasm is great. The others that you mentioned are really good too but Curb is a different level.

Jason Scade

🥂 Great selections! I must have seen Curb well over 7 times and could easily watch it again. Only one viewing for Rome but I recall much of it. Very impressive and engaging series (Historical drama), was good to see some Game of Thrones actors in it. Would love to re-watch here. Valar Morghulis.

Jason Scade

All our best! 😘 Take it easy, as well as you're able to. Everything is going to be fine. And then wonderful. *hug* 💜🧸 Don't worry about the channel, it'll run itself for a week or two. The back catalog should stop most of us from prowling the streets. See you on the other side! 😄 00Jen will return.

Jason Scade

Curb *is* Seinfeld 2.0 and Seinfeld is pretty much a Curb trial run. Both are excellent but Curb is by far the superior sitcom series, imo. The cringe levels and faux pas can be off the charts. It's pretttay, prettaay, prettaay, pretty good. 10/10 USA comedy. It's up there with the UK Fawlty Towers, The IT Crowd, The Office and Ireland's Father Ted. Arrested Development is one of my fave sitcom of all-time. Lighting fast gag and joke delivery speeds - in the dialog, in sight gags, in Easter eggs. Superb ensemble cast who work together perfectly. For all of it's meanness (a lot), there are many touching scenes of family love and bonding. And continuing with The IT Crowd would be my third and final suggestion, please.

Max du Coudray

I love Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development. Good luck with the baby!

Summer

Yay! 😁 Don’t worry about us. The Granada series of Jeremy Brett’s Holmes would be a good replacement

Philip Cook

I would love to hear your reaction to the British show DERRY GIRLS that is available on Netflix.

Jake McNulty

Congratulations Jen! I'd be happy to see you watch "Ted Lasso", but I'd also like to suggest a few other shows that might be fun to watch: The Two Ronnies Only Fools and Horses The Young Ones Blackadder Red Dwarf Absolutely Fabulous Father Ted The Vicar of Dibley Black Books

Patrick

I would absolutely love some Sunny or Arrested Development, the latter especially. It's incredibly clever with it's joke structure but is also incredibly silly. Also can't wait to see Last Action Hero.

Gábor Árki

You are so close! Wishing you all the best in these final weeks and days. Have you picked out any names yet? Maybe something like Jean-Luc? 😊 Normally, I would suggest taking a break and going back to movies for a bit before diving into another series. But with the little one on the way, it might be much easier for a while to fit in reactions to single episodes rather than full-length films. Since Star Trek is still ongoing, I’ll hold off on recommending any other sci-fi series. So instead, here are my suggestions: - CHUCK (2007-2012): a weird but fun mix of action, spy, drama, comedy and romance, with a ton of pop culture references. 5 seasons, 91 ~40 minute episodes. - BLACKADDER: haven't seen it myself yet, but it is the favorite series of a friend of mine and he considers it to be the peak of British comedy. Apart from the first season which he says is a lot weaker. It has been on my watch-list for more than a decade but just never got to it yet. 4 seasons, 28 ~30 minute episodes.

Laura Thornley

Rules of Acquisition is a great episode! Also, how did I miss that you were expecting? I had no clue, hope all goes smoothly!

Lemurian Jones

Off having a baby...'somewhere'. Maybe in a hospital, maybe in the woods with druids. I'm not familiar with Canadian healthcare.

Lemurian Jones

Blackadder is a classic. Not familiar with Chuck.

Erik Lundmark

Many many well wishes! 😊😊😊😊😊

William Rosmer

Replacing Seinfeld if say curb your enthusiasm is the best choice thematically

Opti_Frog

Ted Lasso would be excellent.

Opti_Frog

Derry Girls would be fantastic.

Lean

how about we change thigs up a bit and go with, lets say "arcane" or, "game of thrones", or "lost"?

Mastervodo

You would LOVE Ted Lasso Jen! But I would also love to see you react to Arcane! It's not too long, it's the best animated anything in the last decade, and you would love that as well! Fantastic music and score. Great story. Awesome voice acting. Before committing to a year-long, multi-season series, please consider Arcane again!

Mastervodo

Yes, yes yes please please please!

Amarant Coral

Excited for Last Action Hero. One of my top ten favorite movies of all time. I would vote for It's Always Sunny to replace the Seinfeld spot.

Ian

Season 1 was amazing but season 2 was average at best

Randy Aiken

Hope you have a GREAT FANTASTIC and MEMORABLE week Jen! 👼 How about something totally different for tv series....maybe doing one season of a number of old comedies, like Gilligans Island, Petticoat Junction, Green Acres, I Dream of Jeannie, Sanford & Son, Threes Company, Brady Bunch, Good Times, The Jeffersons, Mork & Mindy, WKRP in Cinncinati, Cheers, Family Ties, ....okay, I am showing my age, but the 70's and early 80's were fun to be part of. 👴

Marc Peterson

One of the top honored TV shows of the past 25 years, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. A fabulous period piece of late 1950s and early 1960s. Great story telling, incredible cast, hilarious and poignant. Must see TV. Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein, Tony Shahloub, Kevin Pollak, Jane Lynch and a great ensemble cast. The list of Emmys, Golden Globes, Peabodys, etc is a mile long. Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) is a young, affluent Jewish-American housewife (Upper West Side Manhattan). Bryn Mawr educated, she embarks on a stand up comedy career after her husband leaves her. No other show captures that late 50’s/early 60’s American optimism and possibilities like this one does. The character of Lenny Bruce is woven throughout as well (marvelous Luke Kirby). 43 episodes over five seasons on Amazon Prime. Filmed on location all over NYC…Columbia University, Greenwich village, the garment district, Apollo Theater…

Mastervodo

Me too! Just after Arcane.

Eric Janssen

Yah, you probably want to watch Last Action Hero instead of Jurassic World: Rebirth— I heahd dose Spielberg dinosahs were just tehbble…There were walkouts at the screenings, everyone was so disappointed. (Only true Children of the 90’s are getting the joke right now. 😛 I love this place, and I’m GOING TO SEE THE MOVIE! ✌️😁🎟️)

Eric Janssen

Then again, there is always the possibility of watching a show made BEFORE you were born… Someday, somehow, somewhere, we are, by the end of this decade, going to sit a reactor down and make him/her watch a Columbo episode.)

Eric Janssen

One reactor this week finally got curious about Mary Tyler Moore. Season 1, no less.

Joseph H Searles

After reading all the comments I noticed that no one suggested M*A*S*H as a replacement for Seinfeld. I know that it's eleven seasons long but that just shows how good it really is and since Jen has already reacted to the movie she can see how the show evolved over the years.

Marc Peterson

I was born in 1955...Howdy Doody or Rin Tin Tin perhaps?

Noremac

I'm really hoping for Always Sunny next - I feel like it was the true successor to Seinfeld as best sitcom. It kind of upped/lowered the bar for how selfish main characters of a comedy show could be. Curb Your Enthusiasm might be my second choice, because it is funny, but it's essentially the same show as Seinfeld.

Noremac

I'd love to see Jen watch Columbo.

Eric Janssen

@Marc- I’m in the minority people who can’t STAND Lucy, but we have had one Honeymooners reactor.

Jen Murray

Yep it will be hard to watch a 2 hour plus movie without stopping. TV episodes would be much easier to record in one sitting

Batguano

All the best for the adventure ahead. If you're moving into more TV could you please try not to have multiple 100+ episode shows running at the same time. It sometimes feels like the variety in the channel has gone.

Jake McNulty

It's your channel Jen, do as you wish, but I'm inclined to agree with Batguano on this.

Rob Nichols

Perfect suggestion. And a short lived show so not a huge commitment.

Major Peril

Yes… more Arnie fun! I’m in. 😃 Wishing you all the best in your upcoming life-affirming experience! I know you’ll do fine. Just please take it easy on yourself, no need to rush back. We’ll be waiting patiently for your return… and hopefully the big reveal! As for filling the Sein void… maybe you could knock out a bunch of single-season TV shows or mini-series, like: * Watchmen (2019) * The Queen’s Gambit (2020) * Band of Brothers (2001) * Stumptown (2019) * The I-Land (2019) * Devs (2020) * Almost Human (2013) * Journeyman (2007) * Mare of Easttown (2021) * Midnight Mass (2021) * Masters of the Air (2024) * Flashforward (2009) * Constantine (2014) * The Dresden Files (2007) * Limitless (2015) * Terra Nova (2011) * The Night Of (2016) * The Outsider (2020) * The Finder (2012) * The Lost Room (2006) * True Detective: Night Country (Season 4) (2024)

mikethemotormouth

And I'd rather have 11 seasons of M*A*S*H than 15 seasons of IASIP

mikethemotormouth

I saw Last Action Hero for the first time myself not too long ago and found it to be way better than I expected. So excited! As for replacing Seinfeld, Arrested Development PLEASE! It's so clever and funny and the perfect length at 5 seasons. Whenever we're done with Trek, I strongly recommend Fringe or Lost at 5 and 6 seasons respectively.

Jason Scade

I am very fond of Sledge Hammer! (satirical police sitcom that ran on ABC from 1986 to 1988. It stars David Rasche as a sexist and violent detective who loves his gun and disobeys his superiors) Lots of madcap 80s laughs with the Dirty Harry meets Frank Drebin character of Sledge! It owes it existence to Leslie Nielsen's 'Police Squad!'. (Sledge even borrowed the exclamation point!) From 1982, single season, six 30 min episodes. The Naked Gun films are the cinematic continuation of Police Squad, with Nielsen playing Drebin. If Sledge Hammer! is worth seeing (which it is, if you like the genre), then Police Squad! is unmissable. And it's in color! Police Squad's! awesome opening intro (contains no spoilers / 1 min) www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LfTitTf4CM

Lorenzo Turner

+1 for Arrested Development, it's a classic and one of the funniest shows of all time. I also recommend Scrubs, Parks & Rec and 30 Rock.

Jason Scade

Derry Girls is a laugh riot. Currently re-watching it. 🍀

Jason Scade

@Carlos I'll need to refresh my memory, it's been so very long. :P

They're ALL good dogs

All four of the shows you mentioned to replace Seinfeld are amazing. Can't go wrong with any pick. Also consider Parks and Rec.

Yelnick McWawa

Curb Your Enthusiasm, Cheers, The Office, Arrested Development

Glenn Galloway

I'd love to see you react to IASIP. I'd also recommend Cheers (added bonus of having the most iconic Intro Song on television).

Ant

Wow terrific list!!

Ant

Jen, take all the time you need, I do not measure your output against my pledge. Important to look after you and our new wee reactor! All the best to your fam for the next exciting chapter! Will be here for you when you are ready, do not push it! xx

Bret Kay

Big Bang Theory, or The Office, would be fun when Seinfeld ends!

Grga Pitic

I'm one of those few people that just can't watch Seinfeld no matter how hard they try. So I'm hoping for either more movies or shorter TV shows if something like this happens again. Personally I've not lost hope for the last 2 seasons of "IT Crowd".

Thegonagle

Arrested Development is pretty great. If you watch that, I’m here for it.
