Legendary movie. Bruce Campbell just kills it, his performance really takes this movie to another level.

Walter Crockett

Thank you Jen. This is one of my all time favs!!!!

Geoff S.

This is going to be fun!

Rob Nichols

I love 'em all, but this one's my fave by far. I remember when my brother bought this on DVD, with the case made from silicone that resembled the Necronomicon cover. He handed it to me and said "Here feel this", I took it and said "Ohh... that's not right."

Thomas Yanez

I love all three movies for different reasons, but my favorite part of the Evil Dead franchise is the TV show, "Ash vs Evil Dead". Fortunately, you watched the version of the movie with the ending that ties into the TV series canonically.

Jason Scade

So happy this one was a fun thrill ride for you. I'll catch it soon. Will you consider the TV series, sometime, to complete the Ash Evil Dead franchise?

This should be a ton of fun looking forward to enjoying some laughs with you instead of screams Jen 🙂only 1hr 21 I bet you wish all horror movies were this short eh Jen 😅

Harvey Lee

Groovy I just loved this one. , it"s definitely fun and campy in the best way The Stop Motion effects reminded me of Jason and The Argonauts I'll be locked into this after work Tally Ho Jen 😄⚔️

Kristin

This one is definitely my fav. The skeletons pay homage to a special effects master, Ray Harryhausen. He used stop motion. Clash of the Titans (1981), and Jason and Argonauts (1963) are our two top favorites movies for Harryhausen effects, and they are also on our list of favorite movies overall. Both tell Greek Mythology stories. We think you would enjoy both movies. They are a lot of fun, and very clever in their story telling given the filming limitations back then. If you like Bruce Campbell, he made a 1 season show called Brisco County Jr, which was fun. It's a western with sci-fi elements.

Adam R

Amazing how we got from the first Evil Dead to this! I think Jen would both love and hate Ash vs. Evil Dead. 😆

Geoff S.

Klaatu Barada Nikto were the words in Day the Earth Stood Still used to stop Gort. Also that valley he rode through alone has those weird slanted rock formations that have been seen hundreds of times in movies and tv shows. It's were Kirk fought the Gorn in Arena. It's called Vasquez Rocks and is north of Santa Clarita CA.

There's also a TV show called Ash vs Evil Dead that started in 2015 and is very good if you liked this you''ll like the TV show.

rubberkidney

oh i heard my email alert but in my wildest dreams i didnt expect such riches. def watch the show. also foundation.

john reed

give me some sugar babe !!!!! what a line !! 😂

rubberkidney

the alternate end is he wakes up way in the future.

Georgius Agricola

This is my favorite of the Dead trilogy! Besides the humor, it always struck me as a male fantasy: beating the bad guys and winning the girls! The guy who greeted him when he returned to S-Mart at the end was played by Ted Raimi, the director’s brother. Bruce Campbell also had a recurring role in the series 'Xena: Warrior Princess' where he played Autolycus, a thief.

Major Peril

COME GET SOME! 😃 Awesome campy comedy horror. My favorite of the trilogy by far.

Kane

I think the first one doesn't have enough comedy. the third one is arguably a little too goofy, the second is basically perfect, but I still love AoD. Glad you enjoyed these, especially considering how horror-averse you used to be.

Adam R

Little Ashes and the graveyard skeletons are some of the best gags. 🤣

Over50Gamer

I will watch this tomorrow night as a treat after completing my CE credits and renewing my CPhT certification and license. Whew! Been hacking away at this all week!

Loki Incredible

The working title for the project was "Medieval Dead", before it was later known as Evil Dead III: Army of Darkness, The title "Army of Darkness" came from an idea by Irvin Shapiro, during the production of Evil Dead II

Patrick

Yes to reintroducing the word 'Groovy' into day-to-day vocab. Also just to repeat what other fans have said, yes also to Ash Vs Evil Dead!

John DiGiantomasso

Listen up, you primitive screw heads! This movie is SO quotable! This was the first of the trilogy I saw, and it was fine without the ED1 and ED2 backstop y. (summarized here in the intro anyway.) I saw one of the alternate endings only once. Ash had to take six dogs EXACTLY then say the words. But there was an earthquake (or something) in the drop sequence so he lost count, Dirty Harry style. "In all the confusion, did I take six or only five?" SO he takes a seventh drop and ends up in a far future, post apocalyptic barren wasteland. I think. So glad you did this one; I knew you'd love it! One of my top ten favorite films.

Curran Dobbs

The composer for this movie also does the music for Xena and Hercules (which Sam Raimi produced, Bruce Campbell frequently guest starred in as well as Ted Raimi, Sam Raimi's brother who was the villager who said "You can count on my steel" and the bored unimpressed S-Mart employee he was telling the story to at the end).

Curran Dobbs

The biggest difference between theatrical and directors is the ending but there are smaller differences during the rest of the movie too, mostly the odd line.

Kristen

I’m hoping now that this has happened we can go more votes for Ash vs. Evil Dead on the recommendation site.

TheADHDOverlord

Well Done!!! You spotted Mr. Pitt inside of [redacted time heh].

Saraliese

Ash vs Evil Dead (show) is amazing and hilarious.

MattN

Army of Darkness wouldn't exist without Evil Dead 1 & 2 and I will always appreciate them in the annuals of horror history but THAT BEING SAID... this is farrrr my favorite. I love all of the camp, and cheese, and one liners, and everything from this. Great react Jen =D

Michael Knight

Bruce Campbell... Good,Bad....Im the guy with the gun.😂 Classic
