Brett Whittaker

This made me wonder why they never did an alternate universe episode in TNG

Dylan

No better way to end the night than with a new Star Trek reaction with Jen 🔥🖖

Rob Nichols

I always thought they should have done that in Parallels. One of the many Enterprises coming from the mirror universe, with Picard wearing an eye patch and a face scar claiming "You are all prisoners of the Terran Empire!"

Christopher Lamont Harris

I'm glad you're enjoying Deep space nine and Star Trek the next generation I love your reactions 👍

scott osborne

though it was not shattered mirror universe they did in a way though it was shattered time with tasha when she went to enterprise b

scott osborne

Shattered Mirror Universe I REALLY DONT LIKE THESE EPISODES but kira in tight leather outfit makes it bearable

Ian

Really looking forward to this one especially after reading the description 🔥 engage 🖖

Sykonee

Ah, the return to the Mirror Universe, one of Trek's greatest Monkey's Paw tales ever.

William Rosmer

when watching kira and bashir interact i always remember that the actors ended up married to each other during the show.

Geoff S.

I like the alternate Kira’s wardrobe in this one

William Rosmer

notice odo pulled a gun, that's something he's completely against in the main universe

Bobby Coolbreeze

That Kirk and Spock name drop gave me chills!

William Rosmer

the mirror universe is like 99.9998% embracing the nurture side of the nature vs nurture debate. with like...the argument that elements of their main universe characters still in there

Chris Biebel

They even had a son together. Just for clarification for Jen, they married each other in real life while the show was in production, not as characters on the show.

timdoesphoto

My understanding is that they were open to doing mirror TNG but had a hard time cracking a good script. Just didn’t work out.

Desmond

You're right, they're definitely suggesting that there's a bit of the Intendant in Kira, just like there's a bit of Smiley in O'Brien, and a bit of Mirror Sisko in our Sisko. The whole "nature vs nurture" debate.

TigerMyth

Poor Jen. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Summer

Jen makes Trek new

Clay F

She did look good in purple.

Opti_Frog

I had completely forgotten about Bashir exploding Odo. That was awesome! 😀

SetsunaYuki

Its funny because I think at this point both of Bashir and Kira's actors were married.

Goddess of Empathy

The chemistry Nana Visitor has with herself is truly unmatched.

Kristin

I don't think they got married until later, but they definitely could've been dating at this point.

Guy Incognito

You can see how much fun the actors have playing some completely different roles: Kira from oppressed to oppressor. No consequences for Quark's 'bad' behaviour in 'our' universe vs. bad consequences for Quark's 'good' behaviour in the other universe. O'Brien's courage. Garak's sense of loyalty. And of course Mr. Sisko's performance among his crew and in front of both Kira's.

"Mirror, Mirror" has always been my favorite episode of TOS, and all during the run of TNG, I hoped there would be a follow-up. Obviously it didn't happen during that series (although it did in other TNG-related media), but DS9 took up the challenge... and fumbled the bag. Every rewatch of "Mirror, Mirror" has reinforced (to me, anyway) the notion that the Terran Empire was the Mirror Universe's version of the Klingon Empire, down to the shiny gold elements in the costumes and everyone being armed to the teeth. That idea gained real support when one of Kang's crewmen in "Day of the Dove" used an agonizer to torment Chekov, a device we had only previously seen in use in the MU. As a result, it seemed to me only logical that if the Terrans and their allies behaved like Prime Universe Klingons, then the MU Klingons should behave like Federation citizens. But that wasn't the extrapolation made by the DS9 production team. In fact, there seems to be no "mirroring" of the Klingons and Cardassians at all, as they're just as ruthless and violent in the MU as in the Prime Universe. Furthermore, I think it would have been better if the Mirror Bajorans had oppressed the Cardassians, as that would have been the perfect reversal to see in the MU. But for whatever reason, we got "Crossover" instead. C'est la vie. For what it's worth, I think I'm a voice in the wilderness on this topic. So far as I know, no one else has an issue with the way things turned out according to DS9. But in the unlikely event that anyone here shares my disappointment, I'd love to know about it.

Summer

I know everyone wants the end of the season and beginning of 3, I can hardly wait till episode 12 of season 3 where blank blanks I know Jen will be exited she already blanks but this is when I blank about blank back when I first watched.

Tyrone Tyrone

🤯You are so right about there being no mirroring of the Klingons and Cardassians. What's your take on Star Trek: Enterprise In a Mirror, Darkly.

Tyrone Tyrone

7 of 9 is great, but Kira in Dominatrix mode😮is top shelf fan service🔥

Lee

I was never a fan of Enterprise (unpopular opinion: Scott Bakula is not a good actor), mainly due to Braga and Berman ignoring pre-TOS fanon and other stuff. But I was very much looking forward to Manny Coto's Mirror Universe take, and I think he got a lot more right than DS9 did. Although I wasn't on board with the MU needing an entire Starfleet vessel to crib from in order to jumpstart their technology. They had their own Zefram Cochrane and there's no reason to assume he was less competent an engineer than Prime Cochrane was. Again, c'est la vie. But it was a blast seeing the TOS uniforms again, especially compared to those hideous jumpsuits.

Summer

I just realized the mirror universe comes from the universe in Playing God that went back in time to Kirk

Marcus Hicks

If you want an excellent Star Trek novel to read, I can highly recommend "Dark Mirror". Its a TNG novel where the novel is intentionally pulled into the Mirror Universe.
