VOTE: Poll #101

This week we'll start Seinfeld Season 8 and continue on with 2 DS9 per week now that TNG is complete! We'll also check out MEGAMIND cause I've just always wanted to see it, and also MINORITY REPORT, which is #4 requested on MOVIE REQUEST SITE

I can't believe we finished off TNG last week! Of course we still have the TNG movies to look forward to (they will be watched in AIRDATE ORDER with DS9) but it really does feel like the end of an era. I looked back and saw I posted the very first TNG ep on Oct 23 2023, so it's almost 2 years to the day we finished the series, and so much has changed since then! I am just feeling SO LUCKY to still be here with you guys, watching cool stuff and I'm just SO excited to keep going and check out more awesome stuff with you guys. Finding out how awesome Trek is has really made me just that much more excited for what's to come - falling in love with more amazing shows and movies no doubt! β™‘β™‘I know MANY of you are curious if I'll be starting Voyager. I have given it lots of thought and looked into whether the shows themselves would have cross over storylines that benefit watching in airdate order. While I did enjoy watching TNG and DS9 in airdate order, my decision for the time being is to keep going with DS9 at 2 eps per week and once we complete that we can decide if we'd like to watch Voyager. I hope this is alright! I want to dive deep with DS9 and I'm SO excited to start Season 3 next week - I heard it's just a total banger from Season 3 onward! Voyager fans please don't fret, this doesn't mean I'm not interested in it, I just want to complete DS9 first πŸ––

THANK YOU GUYS for being here! You guys are the bees knees! Ohhhh man, speaking of-- the WEIRDEST thing happened to me this week! I was in bed for the night, just drifting off to sleep and felt something moving in my shirt. I thought it felt like a huge spider so I was really freaked out!! I grabbed it in the dark and squished it with my bare hand. It was a wasp!! And it stung me! My hand swelled up but I put some ice on and it was fine, but mostly I was just disoriented from the freak middle of the night bee sting in bed! What the frig! 😱😱

Hope you guys have a safe and super spooky Halloween and a great week!! πŸŽƒπŸŽƒ β™‘β™‘β™‘

xoxo

Fantastic line up Jen. Looking forward to Megamind it’s one of the best animated films ever and it was a pleasure watching TNG with you. Thank you for taking us on that epic journey and I hope you are feeling better πŸ”₯πŸ––

Lex

Yikes, finding a wasp like that would freak me out! Week lineup looks amazing! 🀩

Randy Aiken

well Jen, that wasp story should tell you that you need to watch Antman and the Wasp, but after Antman ofc lol p.s. the wasps and bees have been bad around here too this fall

Summer

Ds9 this week are great sad we will have to wait for Voyager but at least you can mourish both

Geoff S.

I got stung by a bee at work that had made it into my clothing somehow. It really freaked me out too!

Laura Thornley

Double DS9 from now on is such a great thing to look forward to.

Banes

Damn, I thought you were going to say you had some kind of ghostly encounter - the surprise wasp sting might be worse! Jinkies!

Walter Crockett

Jen, I am really happy and excited about you’re decision with DS9. I like Voyager as well, but DS9 is my favorite, and I think you will get better enjoyment from both show if you watch them separately. You are in for a fantastic ride!!!

Darryl Low

The bee was just looking for a good night's sleep hehe. Lots of cool stuff to look forward to. Thanks Jen ☺

Brett Whittaker

Ok I been waiting for ages to say….THE JEN HADAR!!!

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Both Tribunal and The Jem'Hadar are very good episodes. And yes, S3 forward fuckin' slaps. Not that I'm not excited for this week, I am of course, but I'm very anxious to get to 3x01. This is gonna be fun.

Clay F

Looking forward to Minority Report.

Jason Scade

Huge congrats on completing TNG! I've got lots of catching up to do, still only half way through your S5. Stoked for Minority Report, it's fab! I've not seen in 22 years and still many scenes are vivid in my memory. Sold soooo many of this when released back in the day. I've not seen Megamind, hopefully can squeeze it in. I hope you will give consideration to following Seinfeld with at least 1 season of Curb. It is the spiritual sequel to Sein (but far superior). Sein is Curb version 0. Bizarre, getting stung by a bed wasp. Hope it cleared up promptly. I got stung by a bee once. For Β£50.

Jen Murray

Don't worry I definitely love Trek so it's still on the table for future πŸ‘

Rob Nichols

Another great lineup. Eek on the wasp! A few weeks ago I felt a tickle on the side of my neck and instinctively gave it a swipe with my hand. From the corner of my eye I "sensed" a small black shape fly onto the floor, I leaned down to see and it was a spider. Blech!

Leanna

Definitely excited about two DS9 episodes a week! I think you'll probably like Voyager, but it's not critical to watch it in airdate order with DS9, so putting off the decision to watch it until DS9 is done makes sense to me. I'll also just add that I used to be deathly afraid of bees and wasps when I was a kid, and was proud of myself for getting over that fear as an adult. But uhh... I think I may have regressed a bit reading that story. 😰 (What better time than Halloween to revive old childhood fears lol?)

Fanchman

I support your decision on Voyager, but I do recommend you watch a few episodes of Voyager before you watch the 2nd TNG movie "First Contact". And If you do decide to watch Voyager, don't watch the 4th TNG movie "Nemesis" until you finish the Voyager series.

Major Peril

So, you might say you have "spidey senses" ?

Major Peril

Another great week incoming! Looking forward to your reaction to Minority Report and I know you'll just love Megamind. Congrats on finishing up TNG!

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

As far as VOY goes it's your channel, J, you get to decide how to run it. I'm down for whatever you choose to go with πŸ‘

Ian Hunter (NewbieInOttawa)

Yikes....I think I'd rather have the spider than the wasp as a nighttime visitor. Glad you're not alergic to them, Jen!

rubberkidney

oh no. no more tng, hopefully we can power through ds9 now, get to the movies

Brett Whittaker

I am gonna be that guy again… for the DS9/VOY debate I don’t mind either way BUT I think I would prefer to power through DS9 then start VOY fresh. It’s not really necessary to mix them for air date.

Ciarra Jade

Ohhh we doing the Jem Hadar this week. I’m so excited .. DS9 about to get wild πŸ₯³πŸ₯³ Idk why but I always had it in my mind that you would finish DS9 1st before tackling Voyager and I’m all for it πŸ™Œ

Michael B.

Oh right! I forgot there is one very noteable person from Voyager that appears in First Contact.

Saraliese

Curb would be great :)

Michael B.

As mentioned in other comments there is one noteable figure from Voyager that appears in the second TNG movie First Contact. So it might be a good idea to watch the Voyager pilot episode before going into that movie. Otherwise there is not much crossover between Voyager, the TNG movies or DS9 for that matter.

TechJJ

I think it's good to finish DS9 and then consider Voyager. There is no real crossover. Like TNG movies, even though there is a character going back and forth, but there is no crossover significance that would alter the perception of the story.

Byrd N. Hand

Of course, "The Matrix" was higher requested than "Minority Report." I know the site indicates you've seen it before, but, as with the LOTR movies, I imagine not for 20+ years. For the sake of completing the whole trilogy (most people don't care about the eventual studio-pressured fourth movie), please re-watch it someday (ditto "Jurassic Park," for the sake of also finally watching its 2 most immediate sequels, at the very least). πŸ™

Byrd N. Hand

One of Spielberg's more overrated films, IMO, but I'll still watch the YT edit.

Byrd N. Hand

I find it hard to believe that the remaining 4 movies are *that* deeply integrated into DS9 and/or Voyager. πŸ€” Surely she can finally just knock them all out and finally get them off the books?

Lintrinsic

There's a massive Voyager spoiler in the final movie that would completely alter the perception of the show.

Lintrinsic

There's a big Voyager spoiler in Nemesis. That really needs to be watched after Voyager is finished.

Lintrinsic

The movies are integrated with the remaining shows, more than the shows are from this point. In fact, the final movie that aired after Voyager finished has a big spoiler in it.

Byrd N. Hand

Great... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Byrd N. Hand

Yeah, don't care. People's claims that it's "Blade Runner" meets "The Fugitive" were a little too on-the-nose for me, and left me less satisfied than either one of those films, and the ooey-gooey ending, along with Tom Cruise entering what I call his 'over-the-hill former high school jock' phase (which sort of continues to this day) didn't help, either. I admire it, but I don't love it. Spielberg's 5 most overrated films for me: -"Jurassic Park" -"Schindler's List" -"Saving Private Ryan" -"Minority Report" -"Lincoln" ... and what I'd consider his 5 most *underrated* films: -"Duel" -"A.I." -"Munich" -"Bridge of Spies" -"The Fabelmans"

jon bolton

I'm more than happy for you to stick with DS9 for now. Sorry about the wasp. I had a similar experience when i was about 17. I was just walking down the street and felt a stabbing pain in the back of my neck. i instictively touched it and the wasp got my finger as well lol.

Byrd N. Hand

Yes, Curb Your Enthusiasm is the most logical follow-up to Seinfeld, given its ties to that series. Hopefully she'll start with the 1999 HBO special "Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm" (sort of the series' unofficial pilot) first. Of course, the series is also much more decidedly R-rated (or 18A, for Jen's sake; I know Canada's R rating is more equivalent to our NC-17, though they don't lock it away and treat it like an embarrassment πŸ™„), and, thus, will require more editing for YT.

Mastervodo

Strong week! Looking forward to Megamind and Minority Report!

Zapp Rowsdower

I haven't been stung by a bee/wasp/hornet since I was 12 or 13. I was in school and I got stung in the wrist/forearm area. My arm swelled up like Popeye. I may be allergic, so I have avoided bees and the like as much as possible.

Jonathan Morerod

DS9 is safe until the start of Season 4 - Then you need to watch the ST7 Movie (Generations) to aviod missing a Major Spoiler - Then DS9 S4 - ST Movies 8 and 9 (First Contact and Insurrection) - Finish DS9, then Start Voyager, ST 10 (Nemsis) - Enterprise can be done with Voyager there is no spoliers there - with ST Picard Series to finish.

Ootlander

Same, finish DS9, then Voyager

Clay F

Spielberg's Top 4 movies. Impossible to be overrated: -"Schindler's List" -"Saving Private Ryan" -"Lincoln" -"Bridge of Spies" In contrast, "A.I." is horrible -- a bottom 3 Spielberg movie.

Amarant Coral

Lincynity is correct. Jen, if you are reading this, do not watch Star Trek: Nemesis until after you finish Voyager.

RSK1995

I really wanted the whole thing by airdate including Voyager and the movies.

TechJJ

I watched all TNG movies before starting on Voyager. It's no big deal of a single character. Jen may not watch Voyager anyway. Even if she decides to watch it much later after the final TNG movie, so what? She probably expected anyway given the nature of Star Trek story telling. Not worth to not delay finishing just to inject another show. You can tell that's Jen's mindset of finishing DS9 before considering Voyager.

Lintrinsic

Nemesis needs to come after Voyager is finished. Plus, Jen already has the airdate order list and has been using it since the start of DS9. It shows where the movies fall.

Byrd N. Hand

No way is "A.I." bottom 3 when "Always," "Hook," and "West Side Story" exist. 🀐 I frankly just never felt that invested in the characters in either SL or SPR. It's as if Spielberg expected us to like them purely because they were the protagonists; not to mention the 'I could've done more' scene in the former (which was spoofed in an episode of Seinfeld, may I add) and the coda for the latter feel almost offensively emotionally manipulative to me. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Give me "The Pianist" and "The Big Red '1'," respectively, over them any day. "Lincoln" I found a bit too talky and somewhat preachy at times. πŸ€” Again, I admire those films, but I don't love them.

Clay F

Byrd, you get the last word. Enjoyed the discussion.

Lintrinsic

Let me put it this way. People can watch however they want, but I probably wouldn't watch a reaction from someone I knew was already spoiled to that degree and I doubt I'm alone in that. And by then the decision will be made, and potential spoilers are a factor in it.

Victor M

I'm here for Voyager, when does it start?

GÑbor Árki

Personally, I prefer it this way, to watch DS9 first and then move on to Voyager. It was worthwhile to watch TNG and DS9 in air-date order, since there are a few connections between them. Especially, because watching the TNG movies out of order could have led to spoilers being revealed, not really by the movies but by people trying to jump ahead to explain things. Voyager, on the other hand, largely stands on its own with hardly any ties to TNG or DS9. That said, the film Nemesis does include a small connection to Voyager which does constitute kind of a major spoiler. So, if there are plans to watch or react to Voyager, which I hope there are, it is best to save Nemesis until after finishing that series. And while First Contact does have a cameo appearance as well, I think that can be considered entirely spoiler free.

Clay F

I like Voyager but is nice focusing on DS9.

Slate

There's also an episode in a later season that's much more relevant if Voyager is being watched at the same time.
