So Jen! Dying to know what you would have loaded up in your spice weasel! What's your favorite spice? Maybe Jenger? I'll say one thing. This show seems to have a thing for slugs.

ngl most of the time when i do a rewatch i start at "hell is other robots" because i feel like it's where the show really hits it's stride.

The Robot Devil is voiced by Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson. Also, the fiddle contest is a direct reference to the Charlie Daniels Band song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”

As TC said,, it was referencing that Charlie Daniels song. Since you asked, there is an old urban legend, similar to Faust, about a blues guitarist who met the devil one night at a dusty crossroad and sold his soul in exchange for the ability to play the guitar. It was widely attributed to Robert Johnson, original performer of "Sweet Home Chicago", "Cross Road Blues" and "Traveling Riverside Blues", who died at age 27. But the story was associated with a couple of other blues musicians.

In one of the audio commentaries, Christopher Tyng, the show's composer, mentions that he learned to play multiple instruments when his former band mates left all their instruments at his house. His primary instrument is the drums, which is strange for a composer, IMO, but it works for him. He likes to add rare and obscure instruments to his compositions, like boobams.
