Another Tim Burton for Christmas season and this one was pure snowy, magical fantasy! Again such a unique story! I thought Johnny Depp was absolutely fascinating as Edward. And Low-Key MVP to Peg, the sweetest lady. What other Johnny Depp or Tim Burton should we check out?

My favourite Depp/Burton collaboration is Ed Wood (1994) Tim Burton's masterpiece and arguably his last best film

Ian

Perfect description Jen it really is magical just like the cool snowy blue thumbnail 💙 can't wait to check this one out with you so shall do that right away 🙂 have a wonderful day Jen thanks in advance for an awesome reaction

Darryl Low

Excited to watch this very cool fairy-tale movie with you Jen 😊 I think Batman and this one are my 2 favourite Danny Elfman scores, especially the ice dance scene. And it was the final theatrical feature film of the great horror actor Vincent Price, as the inventor who never got to finish his creation 😭❄

Ian

Johnny Depp movies I think you'd enjoy - Alice in wonderland (2010) sleepy hollow (1999) dark shadows (2012) finding Neverland (2004) and Depp and Burton - corpse bride (2005)

Harvey Lee

A magical Snowglobe of a movie , Tin Burton and Johnny Depp are like the Scorsese /DeNiro of Fantasy movies . This was so good wonderful soundtrack by Danny Elfman . Edward Scissorhands cut away at the winter blues 😄✂️✋❄️❄️❄️

Noremac

Ed Wood! One of my favorite movies.

Lee

This and Field of Dreams are the two movies guaranteed to have me weeping at the end. (Having seen Jen's FoD reaction, I know not to expect any waterworks on her part, but I'm so glad she reacted to this.) EDIT: Yay, I was wrong!

Adam R

Can't wait to see this! ✂️🙂✂️

What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) is a good Johnny Depp movie, although I think Leonardo DiCaprio does a stronger performance in it. Vincent (1982) is a must-see early Tim Burton movie. Vincent Price plays the voice of the main character named... Vincent.

Corpse Bride is very impressive visually. It's probably the smoothest looking stop-motion animation I've seen. It doesn't hurt that it's a great movie as well.

rubberkidney

very blue meta today, i like it.

Jay Melville

You should really check out Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.

BND

That Johnny Depp he make-a me cry!

rubberkidney

took me half my life to realize the bully is the dorky kid in breakfast club.

Great reaction. Thanks. I have a lot of nostalgia for this movie. The loser boyfriend was also the nerdy kid in Breakfast Club and son in National Lampoon's Vacation.

Top Johnny Depp (I love each one of these 4 Depp movies below): --"Donnie Brasco" (1997) (w/Al Pacino). Based on true story. --"Chocolat" (2000) (Oscar nominee Best Picture). --"Dead Man" (1995) [Jim Jarmusch]. Score composed/performed by Neil Young. --"Finding Neverland" (2004) (w/Kate Winslet). Nom 7 Oscars including Best Picture and Depp for Best Actor.

Looking forward to seeing this reaction soon! How is it that you've not seen Sleepy Hollow (1999)? One of the best Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaborations in my opinion. Pssst.... it isn't really THAT scary. 😃

I'd be very interested in your reaction to "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", starring Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro. Directed by Terry Gilliam of Monty Python. Based on a novel by Hunter S. Thompson, who Depp plays in the movie and hung around with a lot, getting to really know him.

Noremac

My favorite Tim Burton movie is Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. In a close second place is Ed Wood. Generally I dislike happy endings. It almost always feels wrong. This movie has a nice bittersweet ending. If you're too unique it's very difficult to find a place in society, or even be tolerated. He's kind of a Frankenstein monster in that regard.

Sometimes, sad is beautiful.

Major Peril

Lovely reaction to such a sad but heartfelt fantasy. A wonderful Tim Burton story. Thank you. 😀 As mentioned before, the scumbag boyfriend was played by none other than Anthony Michael Hall, the nerdy little teen from those '80s John Hughes movies like Sixteen Candles (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985), and of course Weird Science (1985).

Milton Reduxed

Definitely Tim Burton's most personal film. Edward is how Burton sees himself and the bland suburbs & strip malls how he sees the world. You can picture Burton in high school watching on as his crushes date asshole jock bullies while he feels isolated & incomplete but finding expression in creative outlets

The scene where Edward is carving the angel, and Kim is slowly dancing in the "snow" is pure magic to me - the emotional heart of the film: he can't touch her, he knows he doesn't fit in her world, but with what he CAN do he can make HER world more wonderful, and she knows it's from his heart. (Vincent Price's last performance. Very melancholy movie for me in that regard, though he was *flawless* as the inventor.) Adjacent to this film but still connected - at the Seattle-area scifi convention NorWesCon in 1994, the winner of the costume contest was a guy in full Edward garb, with working scissors on his hand. The whole audience gasped and then cheered - it looked like Depp had stepped out of the screen. Insanely good, and it showed that the movie appealed to more than the "typical Burton fan" (people like me :)

Goddess of Empathy

The ending to this always makes me sad too, like, she NEVER went back up there? He was so close!
