This one was a magical adventure! I mean how could it not be with Robin Williams and Spielberg, and John Williams doing an amazing score! Loved Dustin Hoffman hamming it up as Hook and his henchman Smee too! Curious what you guys think of this one, let me know!

Dylan

Absolutely NO ONE could have played Hook as well as Dustin Hoffman!

Romero Cetera Rivers

🏴‍☠️ Hook!Hook!Hook!Hook! 🪝 Waited a long time for this one! Definitely one of my childhood favorites! 🥳 👍🪝🪝

Dylan

This one definitely hits harder as an adult. I miss this age in cinema, when things were magical and fun. Hook is just so pure and sweet and it is so much fun!

Ian

Wow had no idea you had already watched and had this ready to upload 😳 amazing 🙂 think I'm going to watch right away as by the thumbnail I can tell you loved this one 🔥 Dustin Hoffman along with robin Williams are fantastic in this . Cheers Jen for an unexpected surprise 🙂

Harvey Lee

🪝 Can hardly wait , I'll be doing my Captain Hook impression whilst watching this . Cheers Jen .😄

Ian

Robin Williams will forever be missed but he sure left his mark on the world and some wonderful movies Rip 🙏

Curran Dobbs

As far as controversy is concerned, I do happen to know that Julia Roberts was difficult enough to work with that she got the nickname Tinkerhell.

Sometimes there's an impulse to respond to what you're saying in the reaction video as if it's in real time and not pre-recorded...

rubberkidney

bob hoskins, the eternal smee and also mario. also now is the time to jump into avatar the last airbender reactions. now that you have been introduced to dante basco as rufio its time.

Darryl Low

Hook! Hook! Give us the Hook! This is such a fun movie that was sadly misunderstood by the critics when it first came out. They just didn't get it. Fortunately, the movie going public went to see it, and it has since become a favourite for many. It also gave us another epic John Williams score, with some really cool themes. Going to watch this with you now Jen. I'm sure you'll be on Good Form 😄😊

Geoff S.

She is difficult period. I have an uncle that had to deal with her while working at hotel/spa.

Curran Dobbs

On the bright side, the nickname being fair means I don't have to feel bad about laughing at it.

Curran Dobbs

In a way, Julia Robert's really WAS playing a "bit" part...

Curran Dobbs

The pirate that "doubted" hook and ended up in the Boo Box was played by Glenn Close with a fake beard.

Summer

Love how you care about all kids. Have you seen 7th Heaven or Life Goes On? Might recommend them next month

Curran Dobbs

I mean, there are no "small" parts but if there were...

AJ Lynch

If you are interested in more of an "mature" version of Peter Pan.. You should check out the Independent movie called Wendy. It does give you a more in depth look at the pirates and lost boys and how the story of Peter Pan came to be. It's pretty good! Here is a link to the trailer https://youtu.be/KKktQFFcXL0?si=vRi_R3gIWYlMnVFl

WinkNudgeNudge

Fun fact! The pirate who got put in the Boo Box was Glenn Close! Always loved this movie! So glad you enjoyed it! You're right, though, it definitely hits harder as a parent when the kids go missing...

Ian

Being a mother now movies like this are always going to hit you a little differently in a good way 🙂 the guys making the sets for this must of had so much fun being a carpenter myself I'd have had a blast . It was fun seeing Phil Collins in a cameo took me a moment to realise it was him who knew. This was simply a really nice heartfelt reaction , loved it . I don't normally drop recommends but for a change I will - the borrowers (1997) the Indian in the cupboard (1995) Cutthroat island (1995) The neverending story (1984) The chronicles of Narnia (2005) Nim's island (2008) Alice in wonderland ( 2010)

Matt

IT'S SNOWING!! 🤣

JPDotCom23

The Police Detective who talks to the family first time the kids are taken is Phil Collins

JPDotCom23

The pirate that starts crying and put in a trunk is Glenn Close. George Lucas, Carrie Fisher, Gwyneth Paltrow and Bob Hoskins also make an appearence.

David Grasso

Lousy movie. Easily Spielberg’s worst.

roundone9

One of my childhood favorites, I laughed and cried while watching this again

Matt

The Fabelmans 2022 is a must see for Steven Spielberg fans its based on Spielbergs early years as a filmmaker, and yes it has a John Williams score 😊

Erik Lundmark

First time I notices the Phil Collins cameo! Always too busy looking at the broken up parents... Only took 36 years...

Banes

It's funny that the Phil Collins cameo always goes unnoticed now - he was huge when this movie came out and it was a big laugh, at least in the theatre where i saw it. Time marches on; such is life!

Banes

Yeah, I think if there's an issue with this movie it's that it runs long, especially in the Lost Boys sections, as sweet as those kids are. Spielberg said he thought that he didn't let Robin Williams improvise enough, but I don't know if it needed that. Love this movie - a regular rewatch for me and great one for kids too.

David Lipps

WTH, I'm a 42 old man, and I low key cried 3 times re-watching this with your reaction.....lol, one of my childhood favorites. Love this movie so very much.

David Lipps

also, 2:14:10......frig off Brad.......hahaha

The Fly

Peter Pan is one my favourite books, wonderful writing and fantastic story Like many fairy tales the themes are deep and here's a good illustrated video of the meanings of Peter Pan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjI7vqizTRc

The Fly

I love all the practical sets and matte paintings in this film I think that Spielberg critiques the finished movie through a technical lens and there's lots of things he would have liked to have done better given more time

prot180

One of the very few kids movies I can still enjoy as an adult. It's a classic.

Andrew Hafey

Don't you dare try to stop me smee

Noremac

I think Hook is a pretty mediocre film. At the time it came out people expected Spielberg to make an instant classic, but despite the overwhelming hype it ended up being more schmaltz than substance. If the Hollywood polish and childhood whimsy doesn't work for you then Hook is pretty deficient in most other ways. What saves this film from being a total waste are the innate talents of Spielberg and Robin Williams. It was the overexposure of both the film itself and its family-adventure tropes at the time of its release that led to critical backlash. Time is kinder to this film both due to the nostalgia of people who loved it as children and a zeitgeist that is less cluttered with this kind of film making.

Bryan Tuck

This is one of those movies that I really like in spite of some pretty significant flaws. It has a hard time deciding on a tone, and it really is too long. But the good that's there really is pretty good, and the movie honestly tries to be about something. And the music score is just magnificent. At one point, the movie was going to be a musical. Williams and Leslie Bricusse wrote several songs that were ultimately dropped, but Williams still worked the melodies into the score, which is one reason it's even more thematically rich than usual for him. :)

Jeff Franz

Now it's time for The Fisher King!
