Dylan

Funniest moment in the whole first Avengers movie is Loki getting ragdolled by Hulk. Even if I’m having a bad day, that moment never fails to make me laugh.

Dylan

That shawarma thing was completely improved by RDJ. The guy is one of a kind.

2026-09-06 01:00 Oh so closer, yet far away, from not only the best superhero movie ever made, but, imho, among the best films ever made. I'm a harsh critic, and work in the industry, so I don't often praise films.

Randy Aiken

still getting the double e-mails!

Jen Murray

Dang sorry, that's annoying. Hoping they fix whatever the issue is with my posts soon 🤞

Randy Aiken

hey 2 is better than 0 !

Dean

It’s tough to remember that it was a WILD swing for a franchise to do a movie like this. None of the previous MCU movies broke a billion prior to this and they took the time and moderate box office results to build up to this brick by brick. Then the movie itself doesn’t hand hold the audience to reiterate the material covered in the prior movies. Also, even though this is Whedon’s first blockbuster, the balance of humor and serious tone felt much more organic than we would see later in the decade long franchise with “Whedonesque” dialogue. For better or worse, it truly is one of those rare movies that changed the landscape of media forever

Ian

Knew you would enjoy this one Jen and it's the one I've been looking forward to the most 🔥 love the thumbnail it's fantastic ✨👌

Darryl Low

Alan Silvestri is becoming the in-house composer on Jen's channel haha. Excited to watch this one again with you. It's been a while 😊

Markus W.

I know what I'll watch tonight! Jen, since you were asking about email notifications, I got two for this post, one at 5:22 and then 5:24.

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

James Spader (who played Jason Hanke in Seinfeld and was also in Stargate) plays an upcoming character is Phase 2 of the MCU. Excited to see if you catch him 😄

Curran Dobbs

In Black Widow's opening scene, the chair she's tied to adds four extra limbs (chair legs) like a spider.

Curran Dobbs

"He's just 'Marvel'-ing at the technology, I think..." Jen.

Bammer

You have no idea how hard I laughed at your little "oh f**k!"

Banes

I know the one you mean, but I don't think Howard the Duck is part of the official Marvel lineup!

Mastervodo

Great movie, and a great end to "Phase 1", bringing everyone together. Everyone gets a chance to shine in their own way. And the Helicarrier! One of the coolest ships in any IP, ever.

Mastervodo

I caught that too! Just slipped out, and she's usually so friggin' careful about it! Must have been a shocking moment!

Banes

Yeah!

Mr. Writhms

That was an Avengers level reaction, Jen! I remember seeing it in the theaters and the audience going insane during that first shot of all the heroes together. Your excitement in this reaction was just as epic. 😁

Christopher Lamont Harris

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie and I'm really impressed that you recognized the character, Thanos at the end of the movie

Major Peril

PUNY GOD! 😆 Gotta love that Loki beat-down doled out by the big guy. Hehehehe. Great reaction!

Markus W.

So just finished watching it, great stuff Jen! As for Natashas backstory, more will come in the future, right now we only know what she and Loki talked about. She was a bad guy, working as an assassin and Clint/Shield stopped and recruited her, and she's trying to make up for it. One other thing, after this movie an amazing show 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' started which is well worth a watch. Not asking you to watch it on the channel (now or ever, although I would love it if you did!) but I cannot recommend it enough! It has some connections to Coulson as well. That show is on my every other year show rewatch rotation 😅

Markus W.

I'm my head I went: "Language!"

William Rosmer

in the shwarma scene, the reason cap is covering his face is the scene was filmed way later and his actor had grown his facial hair out for another roll

Curran Dobbs

I look forward to my second attempt. Started to watch this morning but 3 coworkers called in sick so I was asked to come in while I was mid-watch.

Brian Straight

Fantastic watch Jen, this movie still really holds up well in showing the characters on their separate paths but then come together. The long and short of it us, at this point (and really about all we learn in the Infnity Saga) Natasha worked for a Russian (surviving Soviet?) spy agency and Hawkeye was sent to kill her, spared her and Hawkeye and Nick Fury brought her to their side by burying the "red" in her ledger she's ashamed of. (The kills she made in her Russian career.) The rights over the Hulk when it came to the movies was kind of in an "odd" state. At this point (IIRC) Paramount was handling distribution of the Marvel movies and had soul control over the revenue from Hulk in stand-alone movies which Marvel was willing to work with. When Disney took control of the MCU distribution they were unwilling to cede that privilege back to Paramount so Hulk on shows up alongside other Avenger characters in future movies (where Disney/MCU share revenue with Paramount. We do get some interesting Banner/Hulk stuff down the road. You've only tipped your toe in the water at this point and found the water pleasing, you're about to wade all the way in as the Infinity Saga really opens up. IM3: Meh. It's good. Thor 2: Not bad, probably gets more dislike than it deserves. CA2: You should love, good use of Cap and others it brings back and works well as a typical spy thriller from the era. (I'd say Jason Bourne level stuff.)

Chris Biebel

Just a little thing to notice. When both Thor and Black Widow are trying to calm down Hulk, they refer to him as "Banner" and Hulk responds poorly to that. When Captain tells Hulk to "Smash", he addresses him as Hulk, not Banner, and the Hulk responds well to that. Hulk and Banner aren't actually the same person, and Hulk doesn't like Banner, so calling him "Banner" makes him mad. Captain, however, showed him respect by calling him Hulk.

Curran Dobbs

When Tony is bonding with Bruce Banner, he isn't just being nice to Bruce, he's being nice to the Hulk inside. I think the Hulk retains at least some level of awareness of that.

Curran Dobbs

"Do bullets do anything to the Hulk?" They irritate him, like aggressive mosquitoes.

Curran Dobbs

Agents of Shield might be something you'd enjoy. It "Grows The Beard" somewhere mid to late season 1. "Growing the Beard" is the moment when a series finds its footing or voice and shows a noticeable improvement. You can guess which show it refers to.

Curran Dobbs

In the final post credit scene, Chris Evans was hiding a beard he grew for another part.

Over50Gamer

When I saw IM3 in the theater, I didn't like it. But, through repeats, it really grew on me and I think it's way better than IM2. The second Cap Am, though, is widely regarded as one of the best in the MCU. :)

Over50Gamer

Ooof! One of those times where it sucks to be valuable.

Over50Gamer

I remember seeing this in the theater and, let me tell you Jen, it was amazing.... especially experiencing the audience go absolutely bananas over the Hulk/Loki scene. I couldn't even hear Hulk say "Puny god!" due to everyone (including myself) roaring from laughter and cheering! 😂 I was shocked to see Harry Dean Stanton make an appearance as the guard who helped out Banner after he, as the Hulk, landed "all big, green and buck-ass nude".

Curran Dobbs

Oh, I mean, I could have said "No" but, you know.

Kevin Sommerfield

The trope of heroes fighting before they come together is a very old one : the Three Musketeers and D'Artagnan, Robin Hood and his Merry Men, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table - all fought before becoming friends. And it happened in every comic book team up too! Thanks again for the reaction!

Lorenzo Turner

Don't know if anyone mentioned it, but the writer/director Joss Whedon is also the creator of Firefly/Serenity.

Banes

That's my secret, Cap...when I watch this movie...I'm never angry.

Jonathan D

Awesome reaction!!! "You should've left it in the ocean."

Thomas Malley

"Does mother know you weareth her drapes".... Jen cackling ... :p

Opti_Frog

In my opinion, MCU films are the closest modern cinema has come to the creativity and fun of 80s cinema. Pure, distilled adventure entertainment for all ages. Not every MCU movie hits the spot for everyone, and as with anything this successful there eventually was a backlash, but when The Avengers came out in 2012 it was more than a modern classic. It was more than a phenomenon. It was a cultural shift. Supposedly, as far as studio execs understood, the live action superhero genre peaked with DC/WBs release of The Dark Knight. Marvel changed everything, and no one who tried to emulate them was very successful.

Opti_Frog

"Are you an alien?" always tickles me.

Simon

My first time hearing Jen say fuck 😂 Kinda wish we’d get more of that lol.

Thadman

Technically, Loki and the Asgardians are not gods. They are god-like to us, but they do have a lifespan. They're born, live and die. It's just they're VERY long-lived, like a couple of thousand years, on average, I think.

Thadman

In the shwarma scene, the only one who didn't look exhausted was Banner. He looked all refreshed, but just really hungry. 😆

Over50Gamer

Marvel Studios hit that sweet spot (at that time in the MCU) in casting, directing and writing, and all the people who were talented with those three things, that DC failed to do consistently. Probably why DC bent over backwards trying to get those same people to work for them. Now DC has James Gunn, which is a good start, but they'd better hire other good people AND treat Gunn right, or else their new momentum will probably crash again.

Allen D. Warren, MSEd

Jen, Seriously....you cannot go on to IM3, until you watch the TV shows that came out on ABC concurrently with these movies. Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, and even a few episodes of the first season of Jessica Jones!! I recommend season one of Agents of Shield, season one of Agent Carter and the first episode or two of Jessica Jones!! Really!!

Jason Scade

That was awesome! So exciting, we had to watch it in 3 parts. Fab reaction! "Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?" 😂 Thor: Ragnarok is very good.
