Jen Murray

Sorry for the delay, my internet has been acting crazy, took literally all day to get this uploaded. Got the techs coming tomorrow and Clash of Titans will be up as soon as it's fixed 👍

Dylan

Lloyd Bridges is just comedy gold in this. He doesn’t miss with a single line.

Dylan

I vote “yes” for Hot Shots Part Deux.

ioma

Yup! Hot Shots: Part Deux!

Rob Nichols

Another Jen giggle fest, can't wait! Funny how Lloyd Bridges ended up doing so many comedies, after turning down an offer to play the captain in Star Trek because he said it was silly crap.

Jen Murray

Omg was that MANDELBAUM!!! I JUST realized it!!!! I was trying to place him the whole movie

Geoff S.

The love interest was the girlfriend of Tom Cruise in Rain Man. The old general was in Airplane. The scene where he carries her up the stairs is from Gone With the Wind.

Geoff S.

Do what you can we’ll still be here!

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

MANDELBAUM MANDELBAUM! 😆. LATOYA, TITO, JERMAINE 🤣. Did you spot Susan Ross?? 😝 Also, the dentist at the end is parodying Laurence Olivier in Marathon Man 😂

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

Yes for Hot Shots! Part Deux!! But you have to watch Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III, although not absolutely necessary, it'll help 🤓

Rob Nichols

He was also in Airplane!, "I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue."

JPDotCom23

The second movie paradies 'Rambo, First Blood Part 2' so you have to watch it now

JPDotCom23

This movie was co-written by Jim Abrahams, who also directed it, he and the brother team of Jerry and David Zucker, were responsible for 'The Naked Gun' movies and the first 'Airplane' movie and yes, 'Top Secret' as well.

To Wa

Yes on Hot Shots Part Deux! In addition to Rambo (1985), there's also parodying of No Way Out(1987) which you would enjoy. Great reaction! Glad to hear you're interested in Top Secret! and Police Squad, too !

Drew

In addition to "Dances with Wolves," some of the movie references in this that you missed were "9 & 1/2 Weeks" (food scene in front of refrigerator), the "Fabulous Baker Boys" (singing scene), and "Gone with the Wind" (red stairs scene). "Hot Shots, Part Deux!" is even better, so look forward to that. There is a key "No Way Out" scene parody in that one, and think you'd enjoy watching that movie too though not as essential to see before "Part Deux" as "Rambo Part 2."

Erik Lundmark

Part Deux was just as popular, from what I remember, I'm in for that one too!

Darryl Low

This was a lot of fun to watch this movie again with you Jen. Another one I probably haven't seen since the VHS days 😄 Love physical comedy and sight gags, so parodies and spoofs always tick the right boxes for me 😊

Andrew Hogan

The second one is also very good. There is one scene in it that no one has mentioned but you’ve watched Apocalypse Now, so you should pick up on it. Other parody movies I’d suggest are Loaded Weapon which no one reacts to for some reason and Not Another Teen Movie which parodies rom coms and teen movies. I’d also highly recommend Dances with Wolves, it’s fantastic.

WinkNudgeNudge

Part Deux is just as good, if not better! The other one, as you mentioned,is Top Secret! Was Val Kilmers first movie and it's amazing! So so sooooooo many sight gags.

BND

The sequel is funny too, I hope you get to watch it.

Dean

Part Deux is even better in my opinion. The thing with the Zucker Brothers movies is they had a standard of ALWAYS have a joke happening on screen. If it’s not in the foreground, it’s in the background. And they’re jokes, not just references (that became more of a thing in the early 2000’s). Movies to familiarize yourself with for Part Deux (some for literal 2 second gags). Some of these I think you already reacted to on the channel: -Rambo II and III -Apocalypse Now -Wall Street -Basic Instinct -Terminator 2 -Kickboxer -Lady and the Tramp -Casablanca -Star Wars There’s even context stuff concerning politics (the movie came out right after George HW Bush’s presidency and the first Gulf War)

Harvey Lee

A great parody movie from one third of the Famous ZAZ team Jim Abrahams . Obviously a parody of Top Gun as is the typical fashion of this director there are Many scattershot references Like The Fabulous Baker Boys and 91/2 weeks are referenced here as well. Martin Sheen and Jon Cryer would re unite years later on 2 and a half men . Ready to launch into laughter Jen . 🤘😄

John DiGiantomasso

That was fun. I love it when you do comedies! Top Secret is one of my favorite films. It parodies genres more than individual films. And it is huge on visual gags and amazing filming ideas and techniques. It is very clever. I think Part Deux is more a sequel to this movie than a parody of a different film. This one is flying stuff, Part Deux is "prisoner rescue mission." It's a genre parody movie, too. Of the two of them, I think Top Secret is better.

Steve Holton

Jen certainly has a special gift for reacting to comedy! 😄

Andy Thomas

I still remember the promos for this right after the Gulf War. Dropping the big bomb on Saddam Hussein while he sat next to the pool.

BND

It's go time!

Chris Green

I hadn't seen this since the 90's. Great to see it again, it was Top Fun! Thanks Jen.

Joe Blankenship

I prefer Part Deux over this one. And ya gotta see Rambo 2 for that one.

Josh

Great reaction! I vote YES for Police Squad (In Color). There are only 6 episodes, but they're gold. "I'm a locksmith. And I'm a locksmith."

Marcus Hicks

For Part Deux-as others have said-Rambo 2 is the main parody......though I don't think its essential to have seen that movie first in order to get the jokes. Other films parodied in Part Deux is Apocalypse Now, Fatal Attraction and even Casablanca.

Yann Laliberte

Just watched this reaction 2 days ago. You asked what is the ref for the dog running gag. I think I may haf found an answer totally randomly. I just finished watching the 1989 movie "Skin Deep" with John Ritter and the main character almost sits on a dog two or three times during the movie until .... well... he does. Then it becomes "There's something about Mary". I have no idea why they would parody this obscur movie maybe they just though the dog gag was good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-WZGLucwus

mcfierce24

The sitting on the chihuahua bit is original to this movie, not referencing anything.
