Your charm is intoxicating. And I still contend you've got the silkiest hair on the planet. Thanks for all your hard work, Jen.

Dylan

People Are Alike All Over is another great classic episode. Starring Roddy McDowell from Planet Of The Apes. And Susan Oliver, Vina from ST TOS The Menagerie (actually the original pilot The Cage). That makes two sci-fi shows with Oliver about a human held in an alien zoo.

Gary Cameron

Love watching Twilight Zone with Jen! And Roddy McDowell going into space - to the Planet of the Apes? (Rod Serling cowrote the screenplay for POTA) 😗

Geoff S.

This first episode is very iconic. Conrad is played by Roddy Mcdowell who you've seen in an ape suit in the original Planet of the Apes. And a good observation by you because the blonde Teenya was in the TOS episode The Cage/The Menagerie as the disfigured girl that Captain Pike was with on the planet of illusion.

Ian

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone. 🔥 Those words get me super hyped every week rod sterling is friggin fantastic

Gary Cameron

"It looks like a TOS episode!" Yah, the blonde actress was in the first Star Trek pilot, that was turned into the two-part "The Menagerie" and the actor who first speaks to McDowell was in "Mirror, Mirror". 🖖

John Liebling

Jen the girl is Susan Oliver, she was in the original Star Trek pilot, the one without Kirk, the menagerie, which is a cage...she was the one put back together by the big brain telepaths, The Menagerie, or CAGE... Ironic and further Ironic Rody McDowell, former child star, he was in the original Planet of Apes, along with Charleton Heston, he was the scientific ape. Star Trek pilot is five years after the Twilight Zone episode, and Planet of the Apes is 8 years later.

John Liebling

Can't wait for the huge surprise, no spoilers, coming Jen's way in Season 2 of the Twilight Zone.

John Liebling

Episode 26 the time travel scientist - that was the professor from Gilligan's Island, not sure if Jen has ever heard of that TV show from the 1960s.

Gary Cameron

And two with Roddy McDowell; "Get your hands off me, you damned dirty ape!" (though the apes weren't technically aliens)

Darryl Low

The music for these 2 episodes was taken from library music written for the studio and then used multiple times in various shows. People are Alike All Over had Bernard Herrmann's Outer Space suite used throughout. For the Big Tall Wish next week, there is a dedicated score written for it by a composer that you definitely know. I'm saying nothing haha 😊

I liked the first one too, but it took a turn I didn't expect. I thought, because of the mind reading capabilities of the martians, it was going to end with them revealing themselves to be nothing humanlike in appearance and our guy freaking tf out. But the zoo twist was pretty cool, if not contrary to what they implied to him that he was simply a guest.

Chris Biebel

Interesting thing to note regarding the subtitles in the first episode. Rod twice gave the incorrect singular of "Species" (He said, "Specie", which actually is a word, but refers to coinage, not a type of organism. When it comes to types of organisms, species is both the singular and plural). However, the subtitles actually listed the correct spelling for the word as if he had actually said "Species."

I can actually say, I've never seen the astronaut one. first time

Flames Cagney

The 'Sexy Babe' is Susan Oliver. Very lovely and famous, popular TV Star in the day. Many many shows used her. Especially for ratings. Please think about doing Route 66 TV show.

Flames Cagney

I Love watching Twilight Zone with you.

The time traveler from 1880s was Albert SAlmi. Again a very famous and popular TV Actor. Because he played a great weasel

The guy in the zoo was Roddy McDowell. He later played Cornelius in Planet of the Apes. The Planet of the Apes screenplay was partially written by Rod Serling.

2026-09-06 01:00 I didn't realize I had seen the first one before until I saw the ending! Hoping we get to Fright Night this October for more Roddy McDowell. 😊

People are Alike All Over is one of my earliest memories of Twilight Zone that ended with a twist.

Keith Goodnight

The scientist in the second episode sure talked a good game about right and wrong and justice— but he was still willing to pluck a random person out of history with no more consideration for that person's rights than the Martians showed to Conrad in the first episode. What if he'd pulled some terrified 5-year-old child away from his family? Or for that matter pulled a father, leaving behind orphaned children. He didn't know what he'd get, and he didn't care. The two crooks weren't the only people without conscience who lost their lives in that episode.

Jonas

The scientist in Execution is not a good person. Not only did he kidnap someone out of their timestream, he thought sending a man back to hang would be justice. He already hanged for his crimes. To send him back is just bloodthirsty. I wish the story had been that once he got to the future, had a full belly and soft bed, he could have turned over a new leaf. The moral should have been that this man they called pure evil, an irredeemable bastard, can be redeemed. Either that or he is seemingly redeemed until some inconvenience turns him back to murder, and he's executed all over again. I think something like that would have been better, both in line with Rod Serling's politics and a more complex tale than just "New York City is too noisy for cowboy so he goes crazy and shoots up the place then gets killed by a different robber."

Carlos Stevens

Heh... You said you've "heard of" Roddy McDowell. So allow me to remind you. His most famous roll was Cornelius in Planet Of The Apes.
