1 episode til peak of peak. Midgar King(Dad) is 100% cold and not very supportive, not just you feeling that way.

i thought i was maybe overanalysing him lol but glad to know i m not the only one

stuhlpenner

Is it just me or were there some audio issues in this and the last episode?

Neila Reacts~

Little off topic for this episode which is not a spoiler, dunno if you realized but this will become very important in season 2 that ''Mitsugoshi'' is shadow garden :D the company that introduced chocolate, coffee, all modern fashion etc. they are active pretty much all the way from episode 3 :D Also man Shadow had no chill with Iris.. good lord.. Also also :D Therianthrope is both human and animal features so basically you too^^

Pls tell me you are doing Season 2 next. Also, im very impressed, you have a very high track record. Its always „I hope that doesn’t happen“ and that exactly whats going to happen.

Based on your episode description I think you've got a good handle on why Iris is acting the way she does. Tons of expectations and responsibilities, but feels like she can't live up to them and is losing control, as well as Shadow Garden/Shadow being, in her mind, part of why things are so out of her control.

Neila Reacts~

yeah i feel really bad for her tbh, which is why i was kinda HOPING shadow would let her win but i guess it wouldnt make sense in the anime lmao

wiski

Therianthrope = beast person, like Delta (wolf) and Zeta (cat) .

Just thought to mention it, but if you want more actual Shadow Garden shenanigans in chibi form, they made in-between episode shorts featuring the Seven Shadows doing stuff, usually referencing things that happened in the last episode. It works better if you watch them right after the episode they reference, but they're still fun and you get to see a lot more of Shadow Garden, including characters that aren't in the show much. It's called 'Kage-Jitsu!' and they have season 1 and 2 (for the 2nd season of the show) on the Kadowkowa Youtube channel. Just search for Kage-Jitsu! and the first results should be the playlists of the show from Kadokawa. (use CC for subtitles) It might not be something you react to, but it's fun to just watch, especially if you want to see the Seven Shadows interacting with each other or get some deeper insight on things that happened in the show.

I think it was a hick-up on my end? I can't seem to reproduce/find the part.

They're very fun. Also, the last Kage-Jitsu of season 2 includes an important correction that will be relevant when the movie comes out sometime later this year (unless it gets delayed, no official release date yet).

wiski

Yeah, not sure they ever had a release date for the movie, I think it was announced in 2023?

Author of light novel is making spin-off what happened when 7 shades was in care of Cid. It is currently available as progress-unlocked lore in Gacha game "The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden". Can't recommend the game in long run tho. I'm not tracking info about publishing that spin-off as well But that more or less explained how Shadow Garden [spoiler - no telling] that is shown after credits in ep20

RandomNJguy

March 29th, at Animejapan 2026 they are supposed to drop info on the movie and the new LN I believe. Seems like movie will probably drop either winter 2026 or Spring 2027.

The other two shadows are Eta and Zeta… Eta is like the Einstein of the shadows super smart, she made the slime that Shadow used to turn into Mundane Mann and Zeta is a cat girl.

The Force

So it's a 2 week old episode but I thought I'd explain based on what a friend who read the manga/lightnovel explained to me when we watched this episode, though I kinda understood it I got clarification from him. Also this was awhile ago so apologies if I misremember for any who come after. Shadow didn't actually *do* anything to Iris. As you recognized Iris is *very* keen when measuring her opponents. What we see is actually, as she describes, her recognizing that he *could* have done that to her in that instant because of how powerful he is compared to her. She's the strongest person we see in the mind of when fighting Shadow and because she's actually strong enough to measure the gap she can see just how easy it would be for him to defeat her. It's actually an interesting way to denote just how strong Iris has gotten that instead of mismeasuring Shadow-as-Mann's strength she can accurately recognize it. Whereas other strong characters such as Goldy (who is actually pretty strong as pointed out) Annerose and Quinton couldn't in their own ways. It's also worth noting that she is consciously examining people, which is part of why she doesn't notice anything with Cid. She and many others usually only think to measure their opponents or when threatened/in dangerous situations whereas Beatrix, Shadow, and other high level characters are constantly doing so usually out of instinct as they're always looking for opportunities to challenge themselves and grow. Another part is Cid is semi-unconsciously through all his 'background character' training constantly suppressing movements and instincts that would suggest his strength to those watching him, and Iris isn't strong enough to glimpse through that, but Beatrix was until he consciously acted it down to throw her off.

NotFunny

The reaction to the cliffhanger was too funny 🤣
