Neila out here talking about kidnapping a husbando.. sheeeesh

Minidiamant

Tengu do indeed age differently from ogres. That’s why she thought Hakoru would be dead. But now that he is a kijin his lifespan increased.

Elias Cristerna

The reason Hakurou never visited his daughter is becuse he didn't know she existed till this moment. His wife, Kaede, didn't tell him because she didn't know he was still alive. The seed was planted about 300 years ago before they separated to their villages, the bun was baking in the oven for 285 years, and Momiji was born 15 years ago. In that time Hakurou should have died of natural causes, but he basically defied nature and continued living. Which is why when he first met Rimuru he was a shrunken, decrepid looking old man who could barely keep one eye open until he recived his name.

lord_haseo

well i think benimarus age is closer to momiji with albis being over 400 tho its never said benimarus age

The Force

I wouldn't stress too much about age when it comes to monstrous races in most anime, especially true fantasy anime, they tend to be wildly erratic. Also while we don't know Benimaru's age it's kinda implied he's pretty young. Like early to mid 20's. Which sure she's 15 and that's weird (to us) Albis is at least 400, that seems like as much if not more of an age gap problem xD

yeah they explained i the episode that he didnt know

Ketanak

i will love and battle for the cato humm i mean what about Gobta?

Ketanak

Also even IRL a 15yo dog and a 15yo whale is way different in the maturity level so maybe 15yo tengu is adult

Sorry, just wanted to highlight the fact of the RIDICULOUSLY LONG gestation period of Momiji in her mother's womb. Also yay! My first reply from you.

Doomchild

adding to that, the reason for the long gestation period is because monsters give up a part of their life-force when they have children. Kaede wanted his child but didn't want hakurou to lose part of his life for it (can't remember if it was implied that it was her one-sided decision to have a child, but Hakurou never knew she was pregnant afaik) so she held the pregnancy for centuries until she hadn't heard from him for so long she was sure he had died of old age. she didn't want to keep their daughter from him, she just didn't want him to have to give up part of his life span for her.

Some guy

The word you were looking for is "defile" (to taint or corrupt something that is holy or pure)

Virtuous_Wanderer

It seems that base race, and magic capacity has an effect on lifespan. Hakuro should have died but, he was an exceptional ogre strength wise. I think it is theoretically possible for a monster to naturally extend its lifespan near infinitely by way of increasing their magicule capacity/density

Spicoli

I was thinking more along the lines of "deface"
