I understand completely how you feel about the action in this third season. Tbh, yes, they did speedrun it. I don't remember having felt like this underwhelming feeling about the fighting parts when reading the manga. That said, I still appreciated this season a lot (personally, I love to see political and economic talk in anime) and your reaction so far were very great. So thanks a lot 🩵

As a big Slime fan and a world building nerd, I love the action in the anime, but I also love the slower parts, with the world building and slice of life stuff. To me, it shows the author tries, in great length, to build this world and tries his best to show it. However, I of course also get that other people find it to slow and off putting, finding some part a slog to get through. There's nothing wrong with that either. To each their own after all.

Yeah, the fights are great, but I really enjoy the world building too. I remember back when I read the novels, the author went into so much detail (like SO SO MUCH detail) on the dungeon. Compared to that, this season is practically action-packed.

Fun fact: The actual translation for Rimuru's Elite Four is the four heavenly kings. (Which sounds way cooler in my opinion.)

Regarding the action in Slime: See it as a game of "Civilization." You first have to build your economy before going to war. With the first half of the first cour of season 4 coming to an end, we finished light novel vol. 11 (of 23). In the second half some major events will happen, also we will see some new very important faces (some fan favorites). The second half of the overall story also will have waaaaay more action.

Geld lack the firepower compare to the rest of the crew but he is boasting the best defense if we except the OP Diablo and Veldora. The only reason Shion would win against Geld is because Shion's ability ignore reality. In war you attack with Benimaru and you defend with Geld but sadly, Veldora took this job for "world saving" reason

I feel like the reason Geld doesnt boast the same kind of fightingpower that the others have is because he is more of a builder and craftsman. He does enjoy fighting and he is the leader of the orc faction in Tempest but i think he much rather enjoys helping out in building projects. Its just that he is also the Orc Lord and the fact that he has insane defensive stats that he is in a wierd position where he kinda does both. Its kinda like asking Kurobe ( the ogre smits guy ) to help in a fight, sure he could and he would be pretty strong, but hes more of a smith and less of a warrior. However Geld went into this fight without using many of his skills and he wasnt wearing any armor or his shield, an all out fight between him and Carrion would go super hard me thinks.

Yes same, as a worldbuilding lore the slower parts are gold for me to understand the world, I do think they draw out a conversation a bit *too* much sometimes in slime, I think Overlord handles that better. Though obviously I'm not in the majority considering how many people vocally *dislike* that. I imagine primarily young'uns (my only 33 year old ass said)

To be fair to Geld, he is PERFECT for what he is. Geld is the tank of Tempest his job in combat is to make whatever opposing force there might be STOP, and for a tank, he also has VERY good debuff (with his rot), and DPS by virtue of being the Orc Lord. Stack all this on top of his numerous High Orc soldiers, and they are quite literally able to become a giant impenetrable wall of bacon and steel. Benimaru, Shion, Diablo, Gabiru, and Gobta all just tend to outshine him by being either quality builds (ones that are good at a lot but great at very little), or pure DPS. That being said though, it takes on average 1-3 DPS units to take out a single Tank of the same level if properly supported. Geld, his High Orcs, and a dedicated squad of healers/buffers would be a neigh impossible force to get through without a way to nuke the entire line. (Benimaru and the other Tempest Elite could do it easily but, that is by virtue of them all being at a quasi-demon lord level or greater)

Exactly this. Geld is first and foremost, a construction specialist, and a fighter second. Geld and his Orcs are the ones you call up when you want a road built, or for nobody to ever be able to get through that road with force. In a realistic setting Geld and the other Orcs would probably have the highest casualties in an all-out war with an army of equal caliber because they would be the first ones sent in to stop an advance, and wear down the other army until Benimaru, and his unit was ready to join the fight. That or, Geld and his Orcs would have the LEAST casualties by being employed more as selective units inside another leader's ranks to specifically root out enemy forces kind of like tanks/LAV's in a modern battlefield. Their whole job could be sending in a small heavily armored force to shatter lines or uproot fortified positions.

I definitely agree with the sentiment that the world building is slow, but In the end it’s really good. It just takes time. Season 4’s course part 2 will be releasing very very soon so get that Slime Hype ready! Neila I’m pretty sure you’d be able to *when you’re ready* watch season 4 while it releases. You’ll love it! Soo much action!
