I think they said they used brass (messing)

I mean Tsukasa wouldn't make Chrome develop scientific stuff, Tsukasa is what you could call a "Luddite". Named after Ned Ludd (who had nothing to do with the actual movement he was just historically famous) Luddite's were a political group of textile workers that opposed automated machinery out of concern for their jobs. They often destroyed the machines and sent threatening letters to mill owners and government officials. Nowadays, like a lot of words, the meanings shifted more generally to mean people who aggressively oppose, or are hostile to, technological advancement in general. Tsukasa actually fits the mold better because he actively tried to kill Senku to prevent technological development. Remember he told Senku he wants to keep the stone world primitive and "untainted" by society/humanity.

Different comment cause completely different response: They mentioned using copper and brass for the engine parts. Brass is Copper/Zinc alloy and does tend to have a more golden hue of coloration than copper itself mostly cause zinc lightens it. I think it's more flexible iirc? So it's better for moving parts than straight copper cause it's less likely to break from pressure/stress
