I'll be the one standing up in the crowd to say, if you want to check out Alien 3, then go for it. They tried to do something really interesting and there's a reason it's Alien 3, not Aliens 3.

I know you'll probably be watching Alien 3, but the one you might find more interesting is Prometheus. It mainly explains how the company knew about the organism and gave the orders to capture the organism in the 1st movie.

Did you know that in the comics there is an Alien Goddess? Its design was taken directly from HR Geiger’s catalog. Imagine the Alien but in human form.

Interesting little titbit, the actor for burke, Paul Reiser, took his mom to watch this movie, his mother hated his character so much that she said "good" when burke got taken out by the xenomorpth xD

To answer your question regarding how the queen comes about, usually in an established hive, they have royal chestbursters (they are bigger & darker versions of the ones you see in the movie), but in the case of this movie, if there are no existing queens, one of the normal drones can evolve into the queen...

Just fyi a bit of a tidbit in case you're wondering how the so called 'best marines' are acting so unprofessionally. That was actually a lie. It comes out in other plot in other media that the company basically wanted this mission to fail so they sent the worst squad there was. These guys are barely qualified to call themselves marines .And they gave them a totally green commanding officer. If they ACTUALLY sent the best they may have actually had a chance.

If you did not watch Predator you should at least the Predator (It has big action actor in the main cast) and I would recommend Predator 2. After I would watch Alien vs Predator (2004). It is more like fanservice movie for that crossover kind of like Batman vs Superman. You could consider Prometheus and sequel to it, but that is like more modern take on alien / prequel. It is kind of like Joker movie. It tries to be more artistic and pretentiously philosophical.

I agree with others who say don't bother with the rest of the Alien movies. The plot starts falling apart, and they're just upsetting. The Alien vs Predator movie is fun though once you watch the first Predator.

just realized this but why is the board surprised it exists. they literally had an entire plotline where the robot and mother were fine with the crew dying in order to get the xenomorph. that means someone knew it was there and gave the order to get it. idk maybe they didnt relay the information on it in those 57 years

NO i cant JUST skip something? how the heck you skip stuff? my brain wont allow it.....also some of you say: oh skip this one because its bad..... first of all maybe i like bad movies and second OH sooooo YOU watched IT!!! you watched it YOU know whats going on but I ll never know??? heck no! well after neila's reaction in alien i sat down and watched ALL of them (i have been avoid them for decades because ) ...they are fine! they are fine..BUT Neila is gonna kill ALL of us in the first 30 minutes of alien 3 .....i think she gonna like all the others though

It makes sense to end it off sometimes. For example, Pacific Rim. The first movie is work of art. But the second? People consider it to not exist. And for fair reason, it was made to sell toys and nothing else. For series though, like Marvel or Aliens, it makes no sense to skip unless you are done watching the series as a whole. There are key plot points that end up getting missed. And, overall the Aliens franchise is generally good. None of the movies are downright unwatchable, just kinda bad sometimes.
