BONEBROTH - metal band character concepts (Patreon)

so a while back i needed a band name for a commission so i slapped the name "BONEBROTH" on there, a name i'd used in the past for a parody of metal band logos. recently a friend told me they'd used that same band shirt in a ref sort of set in the same universe as the previous piece, so i figured i'd take a moment so solidify what I was picturing for what that band would look like in-universe.

Sketched these character designs out yesterday morning on stream, and touched em up + added a closer-to-finalized logo this morning. Had a blast whipping up character designs on the fly, just not so keen on the cleanup process until I have a need for it...

I initially wanted to do a muskrat somewhere in there because of the Comet in Moominland movie and i've been hyperfixated on Moomin media lately, and i'd initially imagined a bunch of similarly mustached-band members as a joke, but i quickly fell in love with each more varied design i put down first (the komdo dragon and the bearded vulture), and did the sea otter first - and the muskrat and sea otter were so similar, i'll end up using the muskrat look somewhere else, maybe a backup member. So i switched it up with the goat keyboardist to keep some more variety in there, was immediately glad i did.

I don't have any particular sounds in mind for them yet and my tastes in metal are pretty cringey and they can just be whatever, but I do picture the bearded vulture doing backup vocals like Agnete Kjølsrud in Gateways by Dimmu Borgir (at 1:22).

I don't really have any plans in mind for what to do with these characters at the moment, I've just had it on my art to-do list for a while to design a band, and of course I immediately fell in love with them so i'm gonna hang onto em rather than sell the designs as adopts. Also, I'm just so tickled by the name BONEBROTH being a hardcore band with a hardcore logo - one day I'll do a proper over-the-top Cristophe Szpajdel style logo for em too.

Furries, feel free to use this logo if you wanna put some fictional furry band merch in a piece, or put the band in the background if you're setting a piece at a metal show! (I'd just appreciate a little shout-out in the description if you use 'em - can tag JIMBOSMASH if you wanna tag sfw stuff.) Another time I'll put some color on their refs too to make proper refs sheets out of em, feel free to have a go at choosing color palettes for them in the meantime if you beat me to it, could take me a few months lol
