His stray thought about using the key to make a portal near a black hole reminds me of a question: do forces and such travel through those gateways, or does the doorway have some kind of shield bubble preventing stuff from going through? If he opens a portal to space, is it gonna vent all the atmosphere to vacuum? If the portal is at the bottom of the ocean, is the area around him going to get flooded?
