D

I still don’t understand why wick would do this.

David C

Holy fucking shit that was brutal

David C

And right after everyone was saying that Helen was one of their favorite characters too. Fuck. I’m not crying you’re crying.

Damz

Fuck

Seadrake

On one hand this blows, Helen was the best. Randidly has half the personality she does at best. However, I personally was disconnecting from the need to destroy the nexus. It's a bad place, but does it's destruction need to be the central point of existence? Now it needs to die burning and screaming.

BoringGuy123

Good god man, todays update was downright brutal.

Ferco

Puddles, I hate you almost as much as I hate Commandant Wick at the moment... Don't worry, it will pass, as the f*cking knot in my gut will eventually go away... But damn... Damn... This is personal now.

Connor M.

Well damn, that felt like a kick to the teeth. Im not going to question your writing choices puddles. But your definitely not my most favorite person right now.

Craig

Randidly should probably not tell Helen’s mother that he is “impotent”

Kemizle

Great chapter it kicked me right in the heart

kyle

Now it makes more sense....not so random. Still a surprise tho puddles.

Subliminary

Well that’s the biggest plot twist of the series so far. Ouch.

Disclancer

Shit, I should have know after that dive into Helens character yesterday. Fuck, I need a drink.

Luciaron

Just take Vualla and Lyra, give back Hellen.

Thundermike00

Damn, she died? Why? She was around for a long time. I almost cried.

mindcloud

Honestly killing off a main character like a insignificant flea with nothing other than the aftermath shown is making me consider dropping my support of your story. Honestly I would have rather you killed Vualla. I really hope you can show us the reasons why this happened IMO that is not how you should kill a mainstay of nearly the entire story. I feel like with all of the slipping deadlines lately that you are getting tired of writing this.

Chris

He had an aether connection to her. You could pull some fuckery where she is reborn in the AC. It happened with Shalls mother. The other is RG has been missing edge for some time. He has been sort of blasie about everything. I really liked rage Randidly there for a moment. We need more of that. He lost all the creepy dark parts of him when Gim Chimera took over what he learned on Tellus. He has been sorrowful for lives lost but when has he been angry?

SunderGoldmane

Yeah, the why has been cleared up. All this bullshit started with commandant forcing a romance. Now that I think about it this was foreshadowed quite a bit. Her explaining the difference between fighting with your life on the line and fighting even though you know your going to die. The one thing I will say that’s wrong is randidly should have felt this feedback. He felt Raymond dying and he not nearly so connected to him as he is to hellen. He should have known that she was dying, or that she was pulling a ether from him.

SunderGoldmane

I am confused how randidly didn’t sense this fight after you have shown precedence of him saving raymund. I was going to say it might be due to this overlay system being fucked up by velio but you showed that he felt Edraine using aether after the overlay system was attacked. I’m still hoping the explanation is upcoming, maybe tied to the same reason his absolute timing isn’t functioning?

Kurt A

I think its because Wick did some fuckery, like having the engraving guild cut off system access or something like that.

WarVenom

They did, they did show it. Commandment Wick's pride was hurt. That's it. The nexus is vicious and this was clearly planned for a while too.

HungryWaffl3

these 2 chapters have made me physically ill jesus christ

SunderGoldmane

No, she needs to stay dead. If she comes back to life then the nexus was right in the way they treat lives. If death has no meaning then there is no wrong is toying with the lives of others. Her death must remain concrete or it invalidates the struggle.

SunderGoldmane

Fuck, I just subscribed to the “all chapters” tier and finished this binge early this morning. Ending with Edraine and Velio of to do weird shit in the mysterious depths of the nexus. I thought, “this is good, I caught up right at the start of an adventure”. Then two hours later two new chapters drop and I settle in to read. These two chapters have fucked me up. I’ve been reading LoRG for...3 years? I didn’t realize how stable of a thread that Helen was in my enjoyment of this story until she was ripped out it. I’m seriously fucked up over it. It hurts. Like I thought I could cry once and be done but it’s been a couple hours now and I’m still breaking down over this. Now I’m INVESTED. I WANT randidly to win. I WANT this system to be burned down. I want to see what a man who comprehends loss is capable of. “Comprehension of Loss breaks the system”

Rhyden

I don't have anything against killing off important characters. If anything it should be done more often as characters constantly being saved at the last minute sucks and is a crutch. Hopefully in the future we can see a side story of the fight but I could live without that. All that being said, the biggest reason I felt it worth to write the post is because I hope this wasn't done just to make Vualla and even more central character coming up. Trying to rehash all the problems with Vualla as a character, and even worse the way the relationship was built, is pointless at this point but it's really worth saying how incredibly annoying it would be for Vualla to become as close to the story as Helen was/is.

zeith

Well shit that came outa left field but can see wick doing it. This hits harder to cause we just got through with neavah making rand be more open and think about himself. Wonder how this will affect his image refinement with the pinnacle seeker?

Raikazzen

This really hits hard. Ninjas out here cutting onions.

Steffen Thorup

"by a toothed-toothed shark" i am not sure what kind of toothed shark you are meaning, but i think this is wrong. Well written chapter, but it was tough to say goodbye to helen. As many are saying, this came out of left field, and during the whole nexus arc we have all become used to having her around.

Manu Sniter

Over time this will a natural development, I can't understand why you would expect otherwise?

drag0nreb0rn

I agree. Vualla is trash. Not enjoyable to read. Plus Rand has more chemistry with literally every other female. Yet we are spoon fed her romance. ...boo. #helenlives

Demitrius Fogle

Damn i really shed a couple eye sweats jist now

Demitrius Fogle

Puddles, i can tell you i loved helens character but the way you built up this was good.... damn it why helen 😞

Naoggeddon

Food for that next step of the grey creature. As much as I dislike the death of Helen and brings the whole struggle back to a more personal level then just a force as has been a discussion point lately I don't think she should remain dead unlike what a lot of people seem to be saying. The significance of her death isnt diminished by bringing her back its still a turning point for mc. Her presence is too much of a grounding point I feel to get rid of and still keep a good balance unless this is leading to a landslide type ending and this is the start of the "endgame"

ElectricintheForest

This was really well done, Puddles. I hated it, but it was very well done.

SunderGoldmane

Helen was first and foremost RG’s Knight. Vualla can replace that, she’s more of a co-conspirator. I don’t think it’s actually possible to really replace her function and I’m not sure it should be attempted.

Joshua Little

I had to take a few breaks to read this. Well done Puddles. The story keeps being great. Thanks for the chapter.

Jemini

Well, I am starting to get the sense maybe Puddles has suffered some personal loss. You don't portray the sense of wrongness you get from seeing the corpse of a loved one this accurately without having experienced it yourself. Really brings the Norece arc into perspective too. I mean, I could be wrong. Puddles could have just done his research very well. But, even with that, I just saw Randidly act and feel in a manner that was almost spot-on identical to how I was when I found my mother having died of a prescription overdose. I really have a hard time believing that can be done with a 2nd hand account. Having it mirror a personal experience does a really strange thing. It definitely broke my immersion because all of a sudden I was thinking about how accurately this mirrored my personal experience and what it might mean in the author's life. At the same time though, I do not feel it was a bad break to the immersion. It broke it for me just because of my personal experience, but the reason the immersion was broken was because it was so incredibly spot-on. So I guess I could say it was well done.

Darune Albane

... WoW the emotion you was able to bring out

Joey McGowan

Yeah I don't like Vualla at all. Her death wouldn't even matter to meas much as a random rider of Randidly's hes summoned.
