Correction: The developers of Road Rage didn’t loose that lawsuit, it was settled before going to court.

I forgot it was from this episode, but Homers "Aww, you suck, Marge!" unfortunately pops into my head a lot when my wife is driving. Don't worry! I never actually say it or so much as let my irritation surface even in a subtle manner, but it is strangely cathartic to hear Homer say what I could never. Speaking of driving, the wife and I recently upgraded to a minivan. Not exactly an SUV, but it's a similar transition as I traded in my 12 year old sedan. I've never felt more like a responsible adult as I looked through that thing and marveled at all the storage space and thought about all of the things I could fit in there. No more borrowing a pickup truck when I need to go to Home Depot! I've also never felt more lame.

About the ending, the main question is WHY the writers felt the need to randomly plug for NBC and Stone Phillips' Dateline. I can guess it was a spite move against Fox, the hand that feeds them, for saying they made no money off The Simpsons. This would have also coincided with the recent voice actor pay raise.

Nice Kool Keith on the intro, a much better artist than Eminem.

I always get this episode's title mixed up with the one where Marge gets breast implants.

Eve of the Stars

I rented Simpsons Road Rage like twice and played it so much...I had no idea Crazy Taxi even existed until later. I liked playing as Marge; she had a really good in-game quote: "I hope the traffic is nice."

Futurama found a good replacement for Troy McClure in the narrator from the "Don't Date Robots" filmstrip.

"Talking Simpson's JET" is my favorite NEO GEO fighting game.

Your comments on that Timeline article about a series of shootings associated with road rage helped solve a mystery that's plagued me about the movie LA Story starring Steve Martin . That 1991 film has a scene where Martin just starts randomly shooting at cars on an LA freeway because it's the beginning of Spring. Comedy ensues as a little old lady pulls out a revolver & shoots back. I couldn't understand what was happening but those 1987/88 shootings must have influenced the writing of that scene. Secondly, in the Curtis E. Bear scene I can certainly understand why the writers decided to have the mostly white crowd beat up Eddie with two by fours & not Lou. That latter would've been a bit too Rodney King-ish & would create a very unfortunate GIF that would probably play well at Trump rallies but not anywhere else. Keep up the great work!

Just a quick note from a Scottish listener to say "Edinburgh" is generally pronounced "Ed-in-buh-ruh". https://youtu.be/tgjqBZIoJs4 For once, Willie was pretty close to being right, although he was WAY off with "Glasgow" on the Sherrie Bobbins episode. Anyway, keep up the awesome work. ^_^

The idea of there being distinct "guy" and "girl" model cars is so goddamn stupid and peak capitalism/gender normative marketing technique BS, so I'm glad this episode dumps on it a bit (though maybe not enough IMO).

Ah, the episode that earned me a nickname in elementary school! You now officially have permission to read my comments as Curtis E Bear the Courtesy Bear. This offer is valid for Talking Simpsons only.
