Happy New Year! It's a whole new decade for the Talking Simpsons Network, where our podcasts are growing bigger and better than ever! And just like usual, we've got our monthly poll to pick the next subject of our premium podcast, What A Cartoon Movie! Each month we record a fresh, extra-long podcast about an animated film, and then release it for our $10 Patreon subscribers. And when we open up the voting, we want to let all the $5 folks have a chance to be heard as well so they can help pick episodes they might enjoy down the line. And as you saw in our recent updated schedule, an extended preview of this movie podcast will be our last What A Cartoon! episode released each month!

For January 2020, we're going back to a tried and true format: The Direct-to-Video Animated Film! Usually looked down upon by animation fans, there are many original animated videos that defy expectations of the genre, and we have four great candidates for our next What A Cartoon Movie!

Aladdin: The Return Of Jafar, the 1994 sequel to Disney's Renaissance hit that set the stage for the animated series that would follow!

The Animatrix, the 2003 anthology film that set up The Matrix's sequels with a all-star lineup of anime creators!

Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, the 1998 video feature that ends the classic era of Batman: The Animated Series!

An Extremely Goofy Movie, the X-Games flavored sequel to the previous WAC Movie subject that turns 20 this year!

So please, make your voices heard before December 8,  and let your voices be heard! Thanks as always for your amazing support, and here's to another great month of podcast fun!

I'm a sucker for all things Batman the Animated Series-related so I've gotta throw my hat in for SubZero!

Angel Young

I picked An Extremely Goofy movie but glad to see that Animatrix is winning.

Brian Hortin

I’m rooting for the Homer Genie

Frank Grimes

Good choices, picked Animatrix, since the others' prequels were covered prior.

nando

Need an excuse to revisit the Animatrix

Eric Romin

I'm surprised that Return if Jafar is #2 on here, as it's pretty terrible. It's actually the only one in here I've seen, and I'm confident in saying it's the worst of the 4 choices. There's no way any of the other 3 are that bad.

Curtis Bostick

Return of Jafar is the only one of these I've seen, but I also don't really care for it. I voted Animatrix because I have heard its it's good.

Charlie (Yami) Manney

Love the Animatrix. (My introduction to the Matrix franchise.) But I had to throw a vote over to “An Extremely Goofy Movie” it would give me a reason to watch the train wreck of a movie it was. Especially since I consider “A Goofy Movie” one of my favorite animated movies ever.

Kiaayo

Talk about the second best Matrix movie!

Christopher

The second renaissance portion of The Animatrix is truly haunting. Cannot wait for the guys to cover this! Hope it wins!

crystalhearts

The Animatrix is a great choice, but in my heart I want to hear a three to four hour podcast about an extremely goofy movie

Mike Mariano

If Return of Jafar doesn’t make it I would encourage you to cover an episode of the Aladdin series. Dan Castellaneta will always be my genie!

SomeBloke

The Animatrix is fascinating and should probably win, but I’ve only got one rule for these polls and it’s “vote for Return of Jafar.”

Marcel Turenne

I voted Return of Jafar both for the circumstances surrounding Dan Castellaneta stepping into the role of the Genie as well as it being the first of Disney’s direct-to-video features as well as the first ever DTV American animated movie, figured there’d be some interesting material to mine there. Not disappointed that Animatrix appears to be the front runner as it is a fascinating cultural product as well.

I'm picking the one thats "new" - that is to say, we've done batman, aladdin, and goofy already. let's get something fresh!
