I have never seen any Lupin show ever is it necessary to watch part 1?

Robot House

If people want a good starting series Part 5 is really good and its "filler" episodes are all direct homages to the different eras of Lupin tv shows

this reignited memories from my early tween years. During the summer, when nobody cared how late I stayed up, I made sure to catch this on Adult Swim every time I could. I would say this was the show that really got me into anime, because while I did watch Pokemon and DBZ, those were more "yeah it's on I'll watch it's fine" whereas Lupin I HAD to commit to watch and had ot watch as much as I could.

"Bach" is pronounced "bahha" in Japanese so yes, "Ronbahha" is a bad translation.

Glad you shout out Mike Toole on the show. Maybe you could bring him on sometime :)

A correction about the Oshii Lupin movie: he did attempt to make it but fell through.. His proposed concept became the first Patlabor movie.

I loved watching the Castle of Cagliostro for the WAC movie the other month, so as soon as you guys mentioned an episode of the show would be coming to my earholes, I was pumped for it. And after watching this one, I think it's safe to say Henry is right - it definitely will have ruined me for going back to watch other episodes of the show because THIS WAS SO GODDAMN GOOD. The... compromising nudity of Fujiko this episode definitely rubbed me the wrong way as I watched it, so I was very glad when she at least got to take the upper hand in saving herself and blasting away with that machine gun, and with the added context I now know that this was still a much better use of her than many other Lupin The Third episodes, that does make me feel a little better. Despite the fact that, uh, "Ronbahha" or whatever he's called in the subtitles IS EXACTLY EGGMAN stares you in the face from the moment he shows up, it never really dawned on me until the grenades blew up in his face, covering him in soot. Suddenly my brain went HOLY SHIT IT'S JUST EGGMAN, and upon telling my friend about it, he pointed out that Kamajī in Spirited Away ALSO looks like Eggman, and then obviously you two pointed out Porco Rosso's pigman himself is also very Eggman like, so I think it's safe to say the Sonic character designers were a fan of Miyazaki's.

I've never seen the show or been part of its fandom, so forgive me if this is well-trod territory, but something has been bothering me about the way Lupin is being pronounced. Words that are translated into English from Asian languages tend to be quite consistent in the pronunciation, so I figured it was supposed to be Lu-peen. But evidently the title character is supposed to be French, which is apparently where you're getting the Lu-PAHN pronunciation from (or that's how it's said in the show, perhaps). But as I'm sure Bob can attest with his French knowledge, that's not quite right, either. I don't know how to type it out here in a way that can be heard, but Google Translate pronounces it the way I, in my ignorance, would imagine it should be pronounced. Sorry for being pedantic, but hopefully I'm in good company and you guys appreciate that sort of thing now and again. :)
