Congratulations from all of us at the Talking Simpsons Network for making it through the first month of 2021! It's a time of new beginnings and that includes tons of new podcasts coming your way from us. And not just Talking Simpsons and What A Cartoon! but also our monthly $10 premium podcast, which we need your help to decide what we'll be covering in March.

Currently, we're so far ahead in podcast recordings that we've already recorded February's What A Cartoon Movie! (Whisper of the Heart), meaning that in Feb we have time to record our March 2021 movie podcast, and we can start as soon as you choose the subject for us!

And just FYI: For those of you who are new to the Talking Simpsons Patreon, WELCOME. Also, you should know that once a month we release the What A Cartoon Movie! podcast, an extra-long discussion about an animated feature film, exclusively for our $10+ Patreon subscribers. And when we open up the voting for each month's subject, we want all the $5 subscribers to also have a chance to be heard, so those subscribers can help pick episodes they might enjoy down the line!

Our next 2021 poll explores a subject we love: Disney TV toons and the film adaptations of them, all of which took their subject matters to the next level of animation quality and dramatic situations.

Here are the Disney TV theatrical releases you'll be voting on:

Doug's 1st Movie (1999), Mr. Funnie headed over to ABC and got a brand spanking new series AND film out of it full of cryptids!

DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp (1990), the Arabian Nights styled adventure that took McDuck to the big screen with a young genie. Shabooie!

Recess: School's Out (2001), the One Saturday Morning hit went to the big screen for a battle over summer vacation in a film full of Simpsons & Rugrats vets!

Teacher's Pet (2004), the Nathan Lane-starring adaptation that wasn't Disney's biggest financial success but this spin on Pinocchio was a critical favorite!

So please, make your choice known before the poll closes on the night of February 7! Thanks as always for your continued support of our podcast, we couldn't have made it to 2021 without you!

Do you think Doug and Pepper Ann would be friends? I think no, absolutely not

MilesDX

Such good choices. Gonna have to go with Teachers Pet, though. Was really bummed the home video released was the wrong aspect ratio. Though, it is a bit hard to watch nowadays, especially with Nathan Lane playing the titular character who is told he can't be a boy. Despite that issue, I do enjoy this movie and have it on regular rotation to watch (the character designs are so different from any other Disney movie and a joy to watch in motion).

DuckTales will likely run away with this one, but I really want to see if you guys can uncover whatever person was arrogant and/or brave enough to call it Doug's *FIRST* movie.

ToonJay723

Going with Recess: School's Out. While it would be fun to hear you guys rag on Doug for four hours, it doesn't seem to be winning.

mavrick

can y'all not vote for ducktales? ITS BEEN DONE LETS DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Angel Young

I picked DuckTales until I realized my vote does matter and switched to Recess! I loved that show!

Paul

I just gotta say what an absolute flex it is to call your movie "X's First Movie". Slow your role producers!!!

John-Charles Holmes

oh this is just sad, people, you gotta vote for Teacher's Pet-- IT'S A *TALKING* DOG!

corey6399

Awh man, I know Teacher's Pet isn't gonna win but I would love to hear your thoughts on that movie some day

ShyRanger

If you guys do another Disney cartoons movie poll, you gotta put Kim Possible Sich in Time and the Proud Family Movie on there.

Tanner Methven

Wow I was convinced I would be one of the only people voting for Recess

Cassidy Drake

Exciting to see Ducktales and Recess neck and neck.

Gonzalo

i do this for rip taylor

crystalhearts

The Assassination of Doug by the Coward TJ Detwell

John Kelly

Duck Tales or nothin

Gerardo Peralta

Im a huge ducktales fan but im very intrigued by the whatacartoon guys analysis of the recess show plus the soundtrack for the movie is solid nostalgia

Alex Irish

I saw the Teacher’s Pet movie in theaters...twice. To quote the South Park movie, my 16 yo self thought that movie was “fucking sweet”. I blooming went through the snow one time to go see it, no joke (it came out in January). My motivation to see it was when I saw the reviews and how surprisingly rave they were. Jeers to everyone who ignored it and caused it to flop hard.

Brian Hortin

Doug isn’t great but I do wish it had any kind of shot in this poll. The mystery of the Monster of Lucky Duck Lake (different from the Neematoad) will have to wait for another day.

Severin Murray

Not surprised Ducktales won. Worth remembering for the sublime David Newman score at least!

treby

Wow, judging from these results I definitely missed the boat on Recess. I'm not sure I ever even watched it.

SilkiePJ

Curse you silent majority! You already got plenty of Ducktales!

Tyler The Destroyer

Haha doug isn’t the biggest loser in the polls yet! Lol
